  1. amazing build. a fair amount of time and effort has gone into this , congratulations! Green is awesome.
  2. 4AGET Echo. *cream* WANT!! http://www.turbinetech.ca/projet_detail.php?id=5&SESSID=7e989784ed042796f5d33f66a0b5b046 and...how cute!
  3. Awesome build, well balanced build. I see this car around town a fair bit, huge fan. Great to see you took her to track!
  4. Induction, anyone? Here is an example: Method: Ballistic Bellmouths So off to Woolies! Mick Mick!! Approx $5 Dollar mod!! - In this example they used emptied out Egg Holders - ingenious! Should yield better throttle response / noisier at WOOT etc. Beats the stock hose sitting behind the headlight. I think I'll relocate the hose to feed from nearer in the front so whilst the car is moving, fresher air can be directed to the bell mouth. Another example:
  5. Come come! We can have Echo battle!! Fly by on Youtube:
  6. Here is the link to the lap times: Nat Soft Link Here is the individual lap time break downs: Individual Nat Soft
  7. Not too bad given that is the first track day with your car! Consider this, you went from a Starlet Turbo with crappy brakes, and stock power to a Corolla with more power, more powerful brakes, a completely different suspension setup. You have your reference time for the next outing. We can experiment with braking lines and tire pressures. I felt that they were the key deciding factors in allowing me to get a PB. Shotgun ride next time! Also...do 14" rims fit on your car? I'm thinking about putting back, my stock rims.
  8. Previous: GGIII.T Winton Awesome day. Please find below my times. 02:03.0 02:05.6 02:05.7 02:30.6 *:**.**** 02:10.5 02:02.5 02:01.7 02:01.4 02:01.0 *:**.**** 02:04.3 02:01.5 01:58.7 01:58.7 02:11.3 *:**.**** 02:08.3 02:00.4 02:00.4 01:59.9 02:10.6 02:00.8 *:**.**** 02:07.5 01:58.9 02:02.5 01:59.2 01:58.6 01:58.5 *:**.**** 02:04.3 01:57.7 02:00.7 01:56.2 01:58.0 01:58.1 I think the *:**.**** indicates end of session. Notes: Session1 - Spun on flying lap @ Esses (squirmy under brakes...turn in whilst braking = ballerina spins). Dint to mojo. [02:03.0] Session2 - Fiddled with Tire pressures (from 38psi to 35psi)[02:01.0] Session3 - Fiddled with Tire pressures (from 35psi to 32psi), achieved a higher top speed on the back straight @ 130km in 3rd (NGK Straight)[02:00.4] Session4 - Played around with braking distances, change up in gear selection upon slow sections - caught in 'dead zone' in the hairpins. i.e. 2nd gear high RPM? or cruise in and out at 3rd gear, but suffer with accerlation? I opt for 2nd gear for all through the hairpins (Penrite to Repco cnrs and also turn 10) [01:58.5] Session5 - Combined Group A / B /C. Chasing a red E30 BMW / WRX GC8 (all with vain on straights), but I guess that desperation allowed me achieve the PB [01:56.2] Previous Winton Reference Times [Combination of self and brother): Starlet EP91.T (Coilovers, Semi slicks) 1:51.3 GC8 WRX (Stock) 1:53 Corolla 1ZZFE Goose (Coilovers, CAI) 1.58 Starlet EP91 (Stock) 2.01

  10. Perhaps your mates car with the no cai is set up for more response? 4kw difference is not that much in terms of on the road driving? CAI on the track makes the throttle reponse a little lagging down low in the RPM group because the air takes a little bit longer to travel through. Given that dyno's are a top end measurement, the ability of the CAI to 'suck in' cooler air away from the engine bay could prove that extra 4KW? Some of the stivo track guys have a KN Filter with bunnings spec pipe getting air from where a cai would normally sit, with the formula of good throttle response down low and cooler air to the filter at speed. Up to the owner really. I think a KN Filter is about $120 vs a CAI setup which could range from $200 - 400. Anything over stock would be beneficial.
  11. Hope so. We did sub 2mins with a 1.3L starlet, which was stock bar 15 inch rims. We did 1:53 with a 1.3LT Starlet with Coilovers and 15inch rims. Come watch if you're bored. There is a nice bunch of cars out: Aiming to go 1:55. Will find out more this weekend @ Winton. I'm in Group A, which has a nice bunch of cars to chase. :D 24 degrees with some morning showers i think . So it should be ok.
  12. People have tried. Few have been successful. If i had the cash I'd splash it out
  13. Winton has lots of left turns....better get that fixed! Could it be because of the plastic tray guard?
  14. I think this is the corolla in question: Mind you these are improved production cars! I think they are pretty quick times still!
  15. Hi All, Just looking for reference times for an Echo / Yaris 1.5L, in particular for Winton Raceway? At the moment I can only find this one: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?05/04/2009.WIN.Q6 Lauren Gray Motorsport Echo: 1:47.5223 ....which is from the improved production car series. This time was achieved with uprated brakes, coilover suspension , exhaust and engine management tuning. They have an Echo and Corolla Sportivo in the Production car championship: Hoping to find a good reference time for a stock Echo / Yaris 1.5L. At the moment i have a figure of around 1:55 (long track) Thanks in advance. Cheers, Jules
