  1. Crap !!, thanks Jeffy anyone want to buy a brand new/unused air filter?
  2. I changed the spark plugs on sunday, have put denso iridiums IK20, bought a wench and extension from repco for $30, I removed the engine covers and cleaned the top with a cloth and then vacumed it . removed the plugs and starter coils and carefully turned the spark plugs anticlockwise to remove them, I did one at a time , took 20 min to do the whole thing the old spark plugs were in a bad state , brown on the tips and did not seem to be a point on them , as compared to the denso. did a test drive and no engine lights got on , so no misfire or anything like that. next DIY is the cabin air filter , question on that. I have seen some utube video showing the method , I removed the glove box and did not see any chamber or casing which could be removed which houses the filter as shown in the videos. there was white plastic casing and everything was bolted down , no moving parts. so either the previous owner has replaced the original parts or there is another way to get to teh filter. I tried to see if there was a way in through the engine bay near the windsheild but no luck there . does anybody know how do i get to it? thanks
  3. Does the extended warranty being offered have a condition that says you need to get the car serviced from the same dealer?
  4. I need to do some touch up on the 05 camry , it is mica blue colour , do most of the retailer keep this colour or should I go to the dealer , do it need a paint code to be exact , is it written somewhere on the car, what is the best method of doing a touch up.
  5. Will try the spark plugs change this weekend. I am hoping that by changing the spark plugs I get a smoother ignition start, becuase at the moment I feel when I crank it the ignition is not very smooth, could there be another reason for it, I will also reset the ECU as someone mentioned , may help improve performance.
  6. the next job I need to do is to change the spark plugs, how easy is that and what is a good brand to buy ,cost ? is there any diffference between plantinum and iridium ones. any recomendations? thanks
  7. Just an Update, got the K&N Oil and Air filter and finally got the time couple of days ago to work on the car , changing the air filter was simple enough , did a test drive after that and the car felt a little more smother with it and a slightly better throttle responce. the old filter was in good shape but the flaps on the end were all twisted, crappy job of fitting it by the last owner. Oil filter was a little more tricky , had to find the right spot to put the jacks and supports, after that it was a fairly straight forward job , luckily the filter was easy to get to. put 5-50 fully synthetic oil , the results after the oil change was again a smoother and more responsive engine. have a go doing it yourself anyone thinking of doing a DIY , you will save a bundle and you will know the job is being done properly, thanks to all the guys in the forum for their advice and photos.
  8. wanted to order the cleaning kit as well from amazon , but guess what , they dont deliver the cleaning kit to Aus!!, maybe because it is a liquid. the kluger I have is a 2009 so gen2 I guess, the kluger engine is fantastic, pulling a big car in the way it does is amazing(had a few signal turns green races with it ). no complans about that. but going from a tall driving position to a low one makes you feel you are going a bit faster, and there is no body roll in the camry like the kluger so faster turning, it is all in the perception is'nt it. feel more in control with a manual as well.
  9. I had a look online and bought a K&N oil & air filter from amazon, cost me around $50 including delivery. I had a look at the air filter and noticed the one of the clips was not locked in, it did take a little effort to lock the back clip , I guess thats why the previous owner or dealer left it open. the air filter was not too dirty , but I will change it anyway. I am realy enjoying driving this car even though it is a 2.4, it pulls very well , driving a manual is so much more fun than auto, my other car is a kluger so you can understand where I am coming from. thanks
  10. I have recently bought a 05 sportivo 2.4 manual and wanted to know how easy is it to do the Oil Change and Air filter Change myself, Do any of you guys service the car yourself. where is the air filter located, thinking of replacing that. the car is great in most respects but I dont trust the oil that it has got , thinking of going with fully synthetic Oil. also did anyone find any difference in car performance when using BP Ultima fuel, I have heard it cleans the fuel injectors, is a full tank of it a good idea once a while or should I stick to fuel additives. thanks
  11. the cargo mat, mud guards, car mats is a must have, I got it thrown in from the dealer as part of the negotiations, I had a hayman reece tow bar put after market as the dealer were asking too much for it, save 3-400 bucks.I also had the front windows tinted for $120 after market.
  12. This is true and it should in theory settle down to normal with the next tank. I have experienced long term changes in fuel consumption after servicing. The first happened when I changed the engine oil to Mobil 1 SuperSyn 0W-40, the average consumption jumped by 1-2L/100km, and I put it down to the oil. The second happened when I had the oil line replaced under the customer service initiative, the average fuel consumption dropped by 1L/100km. are you still using Mobil 1 SuperSyn 0W-40, any ideas on why the avg jumped up, I would have thought better Oil equats to better avg. I was thinking of putting the same one in my kluger.
  13. Just had a service done through dealer, driving to the dealer (around 25K)fuel avg was 10.9, after service on the way back 13!!, same traffic condtions. does this settle down to the avg I was getting before, what could be the reason for such a jump? my guess is the Oil that was used, on the invoice it said 10w30 oil , from earlier discussions it was pointed out that they use semi synthetic , If I change the oil to better one now do I need to change the oil filter as well or can i still use the same one ,which should be new if the dealer has changed it.

    TowBar Hitch

there are a few hayman reece distributors in melb , I got my tow bar fitted by a dealer in coburg, have a look at their web site for a dealership in your area http://www.haymanreese.com.au/index.htm
  15. I paid 41.8K-driveaway for a 09-Kx-r 7 seats,2WD couple of months ago, including mud flaps, car mats, rear cargo mat (very handy), this was in melb, not on toyo finance(could not come even close to rates or fees offered by credit union) or fleet, was offered retail price, told them will pay 41.5k(lowest price I could find on this forum) max for this car with extras because others have got it at this price, went to 2 dealers with this price, first dealer could not do it , the second one agreed, done deal, shop around if you are not satisfied, if one dealer can sell the car for a price I am sure there would be others who can do it as well.
  16. Hi Guys , I am getting ready to buy a Kluger Altitude FWD, I am based in melbourne, can anyone give me some advise on fleet pricing and discounts, how they work and the negative aspects of it , I dont have a ABN or run a business, but a company I spoke to say even private individuals can get the discount, if it is that easy than why is'nt everyone doing it specially if you get 5-6k off the RRP ..Advise Please..
  17. Hi Guys I am close to buying a 09 Altitude FWD, have been going through online sites for more info about the car when i came across this review in Wheels Magzine , it is about the 2007 car of the year testing , and how the kluger flipped over on its side, this is the link for it http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/Car_of_the_Yea...plate=domWheels. was wondering if any body has discussed this before or has anybody got any advise , because after reading this review I am having second thoughts. to all people with kluger's and families have you faced any issues with body roll big enough to make the Kluger roll over?
  18. I am thinking of buying a 2009 Altitude 2WD as well, dont want any assesories on it except for front tinted windows , was wondering if I go for fleet discounts how much cheaper can it be , anybody else got a good fleet price for a Altitude or regular price ,based in Melbourne,
