  1. man i feel ur pain ill never take my car to a dealerships service department...i had a guy from north sydney toyota to have a look at my car to change my lift bolts and he seemed scared to do it and was scared to do the job so he told me to go to terry shields toyota, i ended up getting a mechanic i kno to change my lift bolts with no problems at all.

with my 01 astra my abs light kept coming on and i took it to holden about 6 times and they kept saying that theres nothing wrong with it and they couldnt get the abs light to come on, so i drove home from the service department and guess what? the stupid light came on, so i made sure i drove back to holden and showed them...they said it was the left hand abs sensor and i that i had to rebook my car in again for them to fix it, i rebooked it and they had my car for a whole day and when i picked up the car they said there was nothing wrong with the sensor...man i was so ******!

also when i bought my celica from a mazda dealer in the agreement was to change the timing belt (i didnt know we have timing chains) and that they would replace the spark plugs and use a engine oil filter and use castrol magnatec oil, after i got my car back i asked the dealer if everything was done and that ***** said "yes" i found out our cars dont have timing belts and they didnt replace the spark plugs they didnt use a genuine oil filter and they used a valvoline multi purpose oil 15w 50 oil in my car

The dealer told me the car comes with 3 yrs warranty but they have to do the service at $220 so i told him where to stick the warranty

btw sorry about the long post...i get all heated about dealerships and there stupid warranty they offer and id like to say the holden dealerships that i dealt with is at blacktown and arndell park and the mazda dealer was at blacktown

  2. nice sig vyets

i use to have the same problem to when changing from 1st to 2nd from what i read before i think 00-02 have small shifting gates thats why from 03 up they made the shifting gates to reduce ppl from crunching the gears...i swear i hate the noise when i crunch gears ouch!

  3. question to people here who are well educated about engine oils...

I am about to get my 1zz tuned and am doing a pre-tune oil replacement, as well as filter. I have read some debates about filters before, but is it worth getting a genuine toyota filters or will a $5 filter from super cheap suffice? Also, my engine just hit 70,000kms and i have heard that maybe fully synthetic oil will not suitable for engine that has that many k's on it, so i am thinking (instead of fully synthetic royal purple) getting HPR15 Penrite semi synthetic, i have seen good results from it first hand.

    Suggestions?

    Cheers

i think ur better off getting a 10w-40 hpr penrite oil or even go i think its 5w-40 because of the colder months ahead

  4. yeh i had pedders look at my shocks and yep the front and back shocks are stuffed now i have to buy 2 brand new tires and get both front and back shocks replaced...damnit and i was going to buy a cai too.

im gona get a 2nd opinion with my springs coz the dude at pedders reckons my springs werent installed properly like the thread ontop of the whole strut assembly arent equally the same height (the center thread visible in the engine bay once u take the cap off from the suspension strut) im going to get my shocks replaced from where i got my car lowered...but if he did a dodgy job i aint going back to him.

ive had my stock shocks with my lowered springs now for about say a yr and a half.

  5. just want to get some u guys opinions on whats causing my rear tires to wear in patches on the inner side of the tire and my rear tires are really noisy well now i know why. i went down to bob jane t marts and they reckon i need new shocks, my car is lowered 1 and half inches, i was thinking if i need to replace my shocks replace them with kybs.

  6. i was reading the oil review conducted by street commodore magazine and i was really really suprised with the results that came from the test, for eg the 1 im using motul turbo light oil performed as 1 of the worst oils and left alot of wear on the test bearing same as mobil 1 and shell helix ultra, i was really suprised with penrite's fully synthetic 5w 60 which left next to no wear on the test bearing.

  7. my brake pads are starting to get low and im not sure what kind of brake pads to get my budget is around the $100 mark i was thinkin about bendix pads but after reading the forum on the mrt site all ppl gave about bendix was negative feedback..btw i got a celica and i think the pads are the same as a sportivo

  8. im looking for a cat back system but i dont think $800 up is worth the money for the increase u get.

theres an exhaust place near my house called carline mufflers at mt druitt which has a really good reputation he quoted me around $400 mark with a lukey exhaust, any1 know wat lukey mufflers are like?

  9. i tried doing the coolant bypass mod but i couldnt properly see or get proper access to the hoses i have to remove since the celica engine bay is so tight and hoses everywhere near the throttle body.

what did u guys do to make things easier to do the mod? i removed the intake hose and there was still not good enough access to the hoses, maybe i have to remove the battery aswell?

is this mod really worth doing? even all the hassle

  10. If you want a decent exhaust system go to a shop that does quality custom work not just a run of the mill exhaust shop that'll replace the rear muffler on your Dad's Magna. Most of them have no idea about the sportivo and the engine's characteristics so save your self the headache and ask for a quality custom shop.

And if it's a good system your after then buy a CES ;) (you're waiting for that one rollamods weren't you?)

20 odd systems can't be wrong!

very few mechanics know about our engine they think our engine is just like any other 1.8L engine.

ive heard good feedback about CES exhaust systems but there in qld n im in syd, theres a few good exhaust places in syd like hitech mufflers n another good reputable 1 that alot of ppl go to is carline mufflers at mt druitt near my house hes done a few sportivos

  11. just wondering if u guys know about the situation with broken lift bolts on the 2zz motor? im not sure if the sportivo engined corollas are affected, ive got a 2zz celica and i thought the problem with broken lift bolts was only in america n not australia...but 2 australian celica owners now have discovered they have broken lift bolts, toyota australia said they are un aware of this problem.

do any of u guys know any good mechanics in syd with experience on our motors?

i bought the new design of lift bolts i just hope mine arent broken because its 6.5 hrs worth of labour

heres a link on the lift bolts
