  1. Hey! Cant guarantee its the same problem but the symptoms seem very familiar! Had a 1997 Magna... all the wiring in the alternator had melted, took it to an auto electricians and that repaired/replaced the wiring but commented they repaired it a little better than factory wiring due to the fact i had two amps running!! Damage was around the $140 mark which i guess wasnt as bad as i imagined. Hope yours is not so serious also. Good Luck
  2. If you want to retain the factory head unit - the only option i know of is to use a tape to 3.5mm plug adapter thingy, much better quality than an FM transmitter Thanks for the idea, ill look into it but now you've got my mind going! Do i really want to retain the factory head unit?? I do miss my Alpine/Pioneer system i had in my previous car, more than i thought i would! Cheers
  3. Yep, Another Gen 1 owner here! 2006 CVX, Blue/Grey (not sure on the official colour name), just ticked over 50k doing a run down to Busselton (WA). Did the whole wine tour deal through margaret river with four adults and three kids. Very happy with the handling in the wet on the winding roads loaded up with seven people and day luggage. Can anyone tell me if there is logic behind the overdrive button defaulting to on, then once disabling it a light appears on the dash with "overdrive off". I just presumed it would default to off and you would have to engage once you hit cruising speed. On occasion ill forget when you first start the car to disable the overdrive and it is noticeably sluggish. Shouldnt the light come on to alert you to a function being active?? Im may be overlooking some reason if someone can point it out or advise if the default can be reversed! Has anyone come across a tried and tested accessory to link up an Ipod to the factory stereo in the CVX? I bought the top of the range Belkin FM tuner/charger with "Clearscan" but it is still very average. Thanks all

    What tyres?

Hey Wilsact What size and profile are your Scorpion STR's. No one has brought these to my attention as of yet but Pirelli is a very good brand. Price??? Thanks Nicho
  5. Hey Raj Welcome aboard...Good to have another Gen 1 member! Feel free to respond to or instigate topics of discussion..dont be shy! Even if you think it may be insignificant it could be quite useful to others who may not be as wise about our vehicles. Cheers mate Nicho
  6. Ha anyone got any good "softroad" trip/treks in and around Perth or even further south... except for Wedge island!!! Heading down to Busselton in a coupla weeks and wouldnt mind doin a spot of beach fishing and day trips. Thanks Nicho

    Gen 1 or Gen 2?

Check out these mods on the "highlanders", some people have too much money...and perhaps time! http://www.cardomain.com/MakeModel/Toyota/Highlander C ya Nicho
  8. Hi Tony Slightly of track of the questions you were asking, but if you intend to do a little off roading, a taller tyre will get more clearance between the diff and the ground. Onle marginally but every little bit counts. I guess the limitations come into it with clearance under the wheel arch though! Does anyone know if you can get a suspension lift for the Klugers? What about Diff Locks? Cheers
  9. Hi Tony, When you say you felt every lil bump, what is as noticeable to your passenger or only to yourself being the driver? Have you considered fine tuning the pressure and going 36 then 38? I'd be curious about your results. I guess the only problem would be keeping the other variables the same, ie. distance, acceleration etc... Ps. Has anyone ever mentioned using a different pressure for the front tyres vs the rear tyres. ie. 38 i the front and 36 rear? Any changes?? Happy Klugering!
  10. Hi c32kompressor! just wondering if you attended the course or know of anyone that has. If yes, was it worth it? How did the soft roaders handle the conditions. I'd be interested in doing a course but for the money i would want to know it was useful for our types of vehicles Cheers Nicho

    Gen 1 or Gen 2?

Hi guys Just wondering if anyone can give us a estimate of what percentage of this forums users are Gen 1 owners and what are Gen 2 owners. Ive been reading up and whilst some info is universal i guess a fair bit may be irrellevant to a Gen 1 owner like myself. Also can anyone tell me the best place to find a Gen 1 bonnet protector and head light protectors. Ive had no luck with Aunger or with general cruising of the net. If anyone has pics of any Gen 1's that have been "done up" or "accessorised" ive love to have a look! How about many Gen2's for a bit of inspiration when the piggy banks a little more substantial? Thanks guys

    What tyres?

Hi Trentgiz, Thanks for the info, at least it gives me somewhere to start. Were you given a rough estimate of how many k's you would reasonable expect from a set? What did they set you back? Thanks mate
  14. Hey Raj; Im by no stretch of the imagination knowledgeable about cars but it seems quite high, we have a 2006 CVX and we are getting around 12lt per 100km and that is city driving with very little freeway use at the moment Nicho
