  1. Is this like one of the Die Hard movies where you have to pick a colour & if you get the wrong one the car blows up :o I asked Toyota to disable the key in ignition sensor last service as its physically impossible to lock the car without the key and they told me no can do as it would be "modifying the vehicle"
  2. Spotted a black RUNX at cnr Pacific Hwy & Ryde Rd yesterday about 12.40PM
  3. Yeah, I think I saw that a while ago when I was having a look around the forum. I guess the point I was trying to make was does removing the old speakers & adding the sound deadening & new speakers risk damaging any part of the interior/trim if you are careful? Thanks again :)
  4. No idea in what order I would upgrade yet, I guess I'm looking to experienced peeps like yourself for a bit of direction How difficult is it to remove the dash mounted tweeters and front/rear door speakers? Anything I need to look out for? What about installing the sound deadening material? I guess I would need to plan it properly from the beginning - i.e. what type of setup do I want first before I start choosing make/model of head unit, amps, speakers. I travel mostly on my own, with the occasional passengers, so looking for a setup that is reasonably loud with good sound quality in the front is primarily what I'm after. That being said, currently I try to tune the stock headunit so you get the "surround sound" effect from the drivers seat, so rear speaker would also be upgraded at some stage (plus probably add the sound deadening to the rear door speakers as well) Thats a tight setup I'd have to go and measure, but 2 boards in a backpack doesn't leave much room length or depth wise (maybe a couple of inches at the most) Too loud? It can never be too loud :P (says the guy with tinnitus )
  5. Hey guys, Just thought I'd ask for some input re upgrading sound for the Placebo. Stock sound is ok, but I'd like to upgrade it sometime in the future. Main problem being the boot is mostly filled by my 2 bodyboards which just fit length & depth wise. On top of that I have a plastic storage container sitting on top of my board bag to put my wet wetsuit, flippers & other crap in when I have finished surfing. So that pretty much rules out a conventional subwoofer. The carpet that runs along top of the bootspace obviously won't hold speakers. However, I guess I could get a solid parcel shelf made up that would support a pair of 6x9's of 7x10's. I'd probably start by replacing the stock in-door speakers, but am worried about rattling & vibration. To me, sound quality is far more important than being the loudest knobwrench on the road . The other idea I had was getting a pair of those speakers that bolt onto the bottom of your seat & pass low frequency vibration through the seat simulating the effect of a subwoofer. Not sure of the proper name for them can anyone point me in the right direction Cheers in advance :)
  6. E-Gene, I don't know you, but congrats on the bub :) A blokes gotta do what a blokes gotta do, but I think JJ's post has some very good points in it (unless the $$$ side isn't really a problem- maybe keep the Sportivo for you & get a second car for the missus?)
  7. Haha, I saw it the other day as well either on Pacific Hwy or Lane Cove Rd heading south. Made me think of this thread when I saw it
  8. I would say that its just asking to be stolen <if it actually has that stuff under the bonnet> BTW has anyone seen that guy in Sydney who drives a red Hyundai Getz with the number plates Schu? He tried to race my mate off the lights one day (mate had a 180SX). I think you'll get the picture
  9. And a spare 9 Gees for when you blow the mother up
  10. Oct 05 I think was the last factory production
  11. Do you know what RON the E10 fuel is?
  12. I have a problem with surging, but its only when I hit 6000rpm. I wouldn't call it much of a problem though :D
  13. http://www.caltex.com.au/about_news_detail.asp?id=309 Should answer all your questions. Although after reading through it, they don't mention the RON. This is the pdf listing all current servos selling E10 http://www.caltex.com.au/media_files/PressItem.876.1206.pdf
  14. Not sure if we're talking about the same car, but I saw a black Sportivo with C-One badges/stickers driving down Old Windsor Rd this arvo in the rain.
  15. I've put a couple of tankloads of the Caltex E10 and the Sportivo def goes better & fuel economy is similar to Vortex 98.
  16. I hear the police are more than happy at this time of year to provide you with a written copy of your hastiness :P
  17. I work right there at Nestle along with another Sportivo owner and still haven't been spotted Just reached my 1 year anniversay as a Sportivo owner & can say that this has been the funnest car I have owned
  18. Did you notice he pulls the handbrake on after going into the river
  19. I think that this will most likely be your problem. Try pushing against the speaker grill whist having your stereo cranked & see if it still appears to distort / rattle. Still there's never a bad time to put bigger & better speakers into your car B)
  20. Why not just get a friend or family member to take it for a drive once a week?
  21. Hey All, Not sure if its been answered before but can you/how do you disable the stupid key reminder beep that tells you that the key is still in the ignition when you open the door? Cheers
  22. 1./ Read the manual 2./ Check the dipstick when the engine is cold & then when it is hot
  23. Oct 05 build Sportivo, bought new in December. I run it on Caltex Vortex 98 (most of the time) or BP Ultimate 98. 23K kays on the clock, best fuel efficiency is 8.6L/100kms for a full tank. Generally around 9L/100kms though. snakes
