hey guys, big thank you to you all for coming down on our Dyno Day!! Was really appreciated, and helps us keep our club alive and keep having these dyno days and other events (eg, ToyotaFest coming up!).

Sorry i didnt get a chance to say hello to you all - i was pretty busy being "fan boy" for the day, being harassed by crown admirers, and keeping up my club duties.....

Impressive outputs from those little 2ZZ's!!

I too was quite shocked with that silvertop 20valve 4A-GE which *very nearly* pipped Dave for the <1800 NA title!!! 6 months ago and Dave would have been OWNED!

P.S. it sure is something watching the little 2zz LITERALLY lift up out of the engine bay when that second cam profile comes to play!!

oh - and i was happy with my sedate 128.6kW from the 100% stock 1UZ-FE :)

for a little bit of history from last year's event.........

around 45 cars entered, with just about every major model covered in the event. Everyone who entered had a good time, with a very relaxed atmosphere and a lot of cars brought out that are VERY rarely seen!!!

There was even a mini featurette in Hot4's (or Fast Fours, cant remember) a few months back with some pics - expect a little more magazine coverage this year (HOPEFULLY).

The 2nd Annual ToyotaFest Car Show is all go!!

Toymods car club is proud to present the 2nd annual Toyota Fest Car show. It will be held at Reading Cinema's on Parramatta Rd in Auburn on Sunday October 2nd 2005. Once again we are heading back to the original home of Capitol motors Toyota and all Toyota owners are welcome.

As the second year of our Annual event Toymods wants to give as much notice as possible for what we hope will be a huge celebration of Toyota at it finest.

To be eligible to enter the vehicle must be Toyota bodied, any engine and driveline combination is welcome. You DO NOT have to be a member of the Toymods Car Club to enter and we encourage other Toyota clubs to present club displays.

Entry fee is $10 per vehicle to cover the costs of venue hire and Class Trophies.

Spectators entry is free :)

Trophy classes and eligibility:

Best Original Classic - Best/Most Original vehicle Pre 1980

Best Modern Original - Best/Most Original vehicle available between 1981 and 1997

Retro Tech - Best modified Classic with a modern flavour

Best Engineered - Car best engineered for its purpose

Street Sleeper - Most deceptive high performance car

There are no boost limits for the forced induction classes, the toymods car club does not handicap those people who have constructed an engine capable of supporting higher boost levels.

There are also no restrictions on the type of fuel used on the day. Should you be running anything other than PUMP gas please advise the Dyno opperator PRIOR to your run.

FYI our current club record is held by an owner of a nice little ZZE123 sportivo which lay down a very healthy 111.9kW at the front Wheels! I would really like to see a few more people from sydney come out and compete for that trophy - there is no way any of our 4A-GE's etc will be able to compete with you......

As well as this there is going to be some rather tought old school celicas, crowns, supras, some crazy conversion cars etc etc.

Anyway, im just trying to promote a pretty good little club event - come along just for the BBQ if you want and have a chat/gawk.... we would never shun a person from just coming along to have a look!

I hope to see some people there!

FYI - i have no beef with rollamods' comments, as i know the guy on a semi-personal level, it was just our attempt at bringing a little humour into these forums, maybe even some light hearted attitudes :)

Yeah i rekon my post does sound pretty harsh, but if you have faith in your purchase, you have nothing to worry about and everything to be proud of. Sorry to those i offended :)

Interesting that this clutch and flywheel combo fixes the much discussed notchy box syndrome you guys have.

This car was a $300 turdbox me and a friend bought as a runaround for when we busted our real cars, but it kinda took off when i bought the 4age for $100. Everything was done by me on my driveway except a wheel alignment (i was only 2mm off with my measurements tho!). The 4age is a great little engine for the car, since its so light its just zips around everywhere :)

There is a turbo and manifold sitting next to me ready for use, but the $$$ need to be saved first and i need to fix my other car

The koni's really make a BIG improvement over using munroe or other family brand shocks - it never bottoms or anything. The ride is very stiff, not recommended for the comfort seekers, but it holds the road very well in most road conditions. There is a bit of an oversteer issue but that i belive is due to the different spring in the rear (harder). The 18R-G is a dinosaur of a motor, but it fits in perfectly with the era of the car and suits what i want from the car. All the EFI gear is factory atm, but will change over to something aftermarket once i make my mind up. I recommend an RA28 to anyone with a weekend passion for classic toyotas! It's how i got started :)

This isnt my car, but a conversion i am doing for someone in my spare time. Its not too hard a swap as the supercharged engine comes from the same model car in japan, only i bought the front half as a "front cut" from Ichiban Imports and pulled everthing out to go into this guy's Aussie sedan.

On top of this, i have wired up about 3-5 engine conversions in different stages of ccompletion, do all wiring myself, almost eveything mechanical i do myself too. I dont have a garage, only a carport and an uneven driveway.

being a moderator on two of australia's biggest Toyota based forums (Toymods and Twincam.org), i know what it is like on the other side of the mod panel.

Your job as a moderator is defined in the name, "Moderator" - ie to moderate forum activity. That role demands that you are imparcial, consistent, objective and fair. Of course you are going to cop personal attacks, people whinging about this and that and it is a thankless job - but that is no excuse to go off in a flurry of deleting and editting to your own desires.

Just for some bling factor which no one will ever see.....

Just to put evidence behind rollamods statements, a friend of mine paid ~$400 for a HD clutch for his SX rolla, and he works for toyota.

I bought that same Daiken clutch with a standard pressure plate for $200, if we allow an extra $50 for the HD pressure plate... then thats a massive $150 markup on the RETAIL price of the Daiken.

Oh.... that friend WORKS for toyota too :P

The 1st Annual Toymods Show & Shine is all go

The event will be held in the front car park of Reading Cinemas on Parramatta Rd and will open to the public at 9.00am.

This is an excellent venue in regards to location, amenities, surrounding shops, and as an added bonus, the site used to be the original Capital Motors! How could you ask for more..?

Sunday, 3rd October is the October long weekend, giving anybody that needs to travel the luxury of have an extra day to unwind after the show.

The show will be a casual affair with FREE entry to all spectators, while entrants will have to pay a $10 entry fee. (This will be going towards any expenses for the day). There are plans to advertise in a selection of publications and if we're lucky we may even get a mention on the radio (96.1FM and 2WS FM). The criteria for entering are minimal... MUST be a Toyota body and be in a presentable state (the only exception is if it's a 'rare/interesting' Toyota being restored/modified).

The Show & Shine will be judged by independent parties with trophies being awarded for a variety of categories (yet to be finalised). As well as this, there will be a raffle, some small competitions throughout the day, and hopefully some special attractions (one of which may be the mythical white Celica belonging to the Toymods Club President ).

We are still on the look out for extra sponsors for the event... if you/or you know of anyone interested please email the board at board@toymods.org.au

It's all geared to be a great day, with much fun to be had, and I sincerely hope to see Toymods out in force at Reading Cinemas!

Well there is another cruise coming up that i wouldn't mind having a few of you friendly guys coming along to. Its a fun twisty drive with some very nice roads, some fancy little corollas, and a group of friendly Toyota nuts.

Time: to be safe 9:30am for a 10:00 Departure.

Bring: Handheld UHF CB's, Full tank of petrol (pleny available along Windsor Rd before Mcgraths Hill), and your fancy car :)

This Cruise is being organised on the www.twincam.org forums, but as usual its open to all cars, and we would like to see a large prescence of all kinds of Toyotas.

We'll do the Putty road run up north out of Windsor, possibly go up into Mt White or somewhere for lunch, and then head back home on the famous old pac or wisemans ferry rds.

ill provide directions on paper for everyone, if i can.

Dont forget to top up ur fuel and remember ur CB's Channel 16.

with regards to the idea of sportivo's having "black boxes"......

.... these rumours are all coming from and have started in AMERICA. This is the same AMERICA which thinks that using a 5mm head gasket is a good way to turbo an NA car, the same AMERICA which said that a 2JZ-GTE was impossible to fit into an MA61, the same AMERICA which said that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, and the same AMERICA that started the idea of a "semi-forged" piston......

... i would be careful about ANYTHING that comes out of an americans mouth.

dude... its simple.

If you are having a problem with a specific dealer's attitude towards you - their paying customer whom they OWE the honour of good service, then you simply should take things to their immediate superior. If they dont listen, just keep stepping up until someone does.

In your case i would've asked to speak to the dealership proprietor or even sales manager and explain that as a loyal toyota customer who has purchased a brand new toyota, you are owed a level of honesty and service in your warranty book mechanical servicing. The owner of the dealership, if they have any respect for their own business should listen to you and at least do something to quell your agnst.

Myself i would've just got on the phone to Toyota Australia and explained that none of your local dealerships are taking any interest in your concerns for the mechanical issues you were having with your 2ZZ-GE, and as a consequence it is now broken.

This is the bummer about new cars though....

yeah it did.... i hardly call it a drag though... was more like a spirited race to 2nd gear.

i would seriously be interested to see a proper 1/4 mile between the two cars, see what the difference in power curves makes?

Next cruise.... dunno, there is toyota nationals in dubbo over easter, so toymods isnt doing much until a few weeks after that.
