  1. It is less than a 5 minute job with the diagnostics tool ... sounds like the dealer is the tool in this case.
  2. 660km between fuel stops is typical for me in my 2011 Ascent Sport manual. That is using Shell 91 with 4c discount too ...
  3. The fuel saving will be less than the cost of any chip ... if you drive sensibly. Few people are worried about economy after spending so much on a truck.
  4. HID bulbs don't live forever and what you have experienced is a normal sign that they have reached the end of their life. We're getting to the point where some of the earliest Toyota's with HID headlights are needing replacement, where many people (including dealers) are mistaking the problem with an electrical issue.
  5. This is normal, to reduce inconvenience to customers. What more do you expect? If you're not happy, leave the car with them an hire a replacement.
  6. I've heard the same on both 70 series and 200 series 1VD engine. Ask a dealers opinion, or that of a local 4x4 forum member (as suggested above). If it also runs rough, misfires, lacks power or has abnormal exhaust smoke, the dealer should be your first stop.
  7. The entire air conditioner unit behind the dash is different. The GTS has dual zone (driver and passenger can select different temps) and extra sensors & controllers to suit. Best to buy the car with the features you want to begin with (even if that means BRZ).
  8. Good feedback! First thing I would be doing is removing the dealer billboards (aka number plate surrounds). Makes a much cleaner look. I wouldn't be able to handle anything hanging from the mirror, as it would swing around and probably hit me in the face when going around a nice/fun corner.
  9. Sorry for the late reply. It is a drum up issue in Australia, as 1 person wrote in to a newspaper and it got published. There has been a service campaign in Europe, like the Aurion VVT hose here, but not a safety recall. See here. New Zealand and Australia haven't needed to do this, as it hasn't been an issue. Dealers in both countries have been reminded that the injector seals are not reusable. The issue can be identified easily when the rocker cover is off (valve clearance check) or through the sump drain plug during services. So stick to the service schedule! As for an Amarok ... be careful not to stall it (ie it has no torque) lol
  10. "Toyota Australia to publically debut new Corolla at Sydney motor show in October" I know more than that, but that's all I can say for now :(
  11. Just because it comes up as N/A doesn't mean Toyota (in Japan) stopped getting them from the supplier, just that Toyota Australia don't expect to move any. No point having money sitting on shelves.
  12. Auto transmission sits on 2000rpm even at 100km/h - 2 overdrive gears, while the manual only has one. Hence the auto gets better fuel economy, whilst the manual is faster 0-100.
  13. Only if it will have a diesel engine, which is what the partnership is about.
  14. Rumour has it that a Supra successor may arrive in 2015. One concept used the Lexus RX powertrain - mid-engine rear wheel drive 2GR-FSE with hybrid transaxle, plus front wheels electric motor driven. Total was certainly over 300kW. Also talk of a 3rd Toyota sports model, under the 86, being about the size of a Yaris.
  15. New TV Commercial. Enjoy
  16. Put your foot on the clutch and the transmission gets no load, so will change speed to match your road speed. Take your foot off the clutch and engine speed and transmission input shaft speed will change to match. In first gear stop start traffic I can hear both in first gear on occasion. It is a momentary knock and doesn't continue. If yours is the same (got a video/audio file of the noise?), it is not a durability issue, just gears having some small backlash as they are reverse loaded (without this backlash, the transaxle will whine like a b#%ch and wear out quickly).
  17. TRD Aurion: Harrop HTV1320 Lotus Evora S: Harrop HTV1320 If the TRD Aurion is meh, the Evora will be meh+ (through base tuning alone).
  18. I've parked a Black 86 GTS at Chadstone, on the roof outside JB Hi-Fi. You got 2 hours, come get it!
  19. Updated overnight, nice find. Edit - not a fan:
  20. If I was allocated the work 86 GTS for the weekend, I would have snuck along ... Damn random pool car allocations! Anyway.
  21. A technical bulletin *should* have been issued for this, but I don't have access to this at home to confirm. Speak with your local/trusted Toyota dealer and see if they can find one. Reply back to let us know how it goes (I will have a look for the bulletin if they don't find it).
  22. Although I don't think it is the issue in your case (because it has only been a week apart), when the fuel tank is near full it can make a knock/slap noise as it sloshes around. It wouldn't happen at initial turn in, but would be a little delayed as cornering forces build and may repeat as it rocks side-to-side. Another thing I noticed with a stationary Aurion was that the rear suspension/brake did make a little squeak when you pushed the side of the car (ie rocking the car to get an extra half litre of fuel in at the service station), as it occasionally happened whilst driving. Again, probably not your issue.
