  1. thanks SuperDave, will do.
  2. I have to say after my earlier comments, the tail lights blend in well in that colour car.
  3. Waiting for new mufflers semi chambered style, similar to what I had on my camry. straight through mufflers gave too loud note down low, 1500 rpm and below, which droned through the car. trial an error will win in the end. tax deductable of course.
  4. another thought, you can get radio's that you can put the front plate in that spot and the bulk of the radio can be placed under the seat or in the boot or anywhere convenient.
  5. Dam taxi drivers, you got to watch them. LOL
  6. I wanted to put a little back in to this club because I have got so much out of it paid on the 25 jan /10 cleared on the 4th feb but profile still says pending ???
  7. This is where I mounted my two way radio and my taximeter fitted nicely in this spot. just out of interest where do you get this scan tool and how much ?
  8. that is one good looking unit Mkay.
  9. driving one of those, and one of my collegues does as a cab I might put him on to these to make him feel better. lol
  10. looking at the bonnet it is a large surface area, it needs something to break it up, whether its a bonnet scoop or some form of stripeing dare I say it like an xr6. it just needs a feature to finish it off. IMO.
  11. this might be a stupid question but since I have gotten a lot out of this club I thought I would join as a silver member, I did this on the 25th jan and my profile says its pending even though it shows I have paid it.????
  12. Did anyone see the news on SBS this evening, the part concerned was made in the US for the gen 6 unlike ours made here, seems the manufacturer in the US making the part "on the cheap" and toyota is copping the blame. there are even lawyers trying to blame toyota for the "fly by wire" system, which is incorrect, it happens to be two plastic parts of the pedal that stick together thus disabling the throttle from releasing. toyotas fix is a metal shim, for a better explanation, in the throttle assembly, which apparently takes half an hour to replace. thank god we got aussie built aurions without this problem.
  13. best of luck not only with the weather but the race too !
  14. sorry guys I like the original sportivo grill, the others seem too bland. the only thing I might mesh the bottom grill, one of my collegues had a rock go through it and wiped out his air con condensor "OUCH"
  15. the more I see the facelift aurion with the clear tailights the more I dont like them especially on the white and black aurions, maybe a smokey finish ( to suit the colour ) similar to the older sportivo tailights
  16. Thanks for the offer, but I will stay with the resonator set up. I am confident that it will fix the problem.
  17. Just an update , going to put in another resonator before the rear split. this will be the cheap way out I think.
  18. dont worry too much about it .I too have done the Y pipe and I had this problem before that. It only comes on for a while then resets itself after starting a few times, it may be an error to do with the mod or as mentioned in the forum, there are a multitude of errors that can set this off. taking it to toyota is a good idea as they can check it with a "scan tool" which will show up the errors.
  19. G'day Scoota, when i worked in spare parts a few years back there was a product called stone guard or stone chip,i think VHT brand, can't really remember exact name,it's a rubberized black spray that you can spray layer upon layer to your wheel arches until you have the desired thickness/deadening affect (basically brush on body deadner in spray form).I do remember it was around $15 a 450g pressure pack, and i didn't go far, from memory it took 2 cans per wheel arch to do it properly. Sorry i can't recall the exact name, but if it's still available it might be worth a try, especially if you do have noise is coming thru the wheel arches,i'm thinking this would be one of it's many handy uses. :) yes I have seen that before, I changed part of air intake ( first stock piece ) this has tamed it a bit. that stuff would be good for tyre noise too. I think theres only one answer now VAREX. closed for working and open for fun. lol
  20. definately be cheaper for either the right mufflers or another resonator. thanks for that.
  21. according to the manual total weight trailer and contents 1600kg also it recomends trailer brakes for weight 500kg and above.
  22. anybody got an aurion in cairns ? I will be up there for a week from 28th feb, if there is anyone I will be looking for from the esplanade while downing a cold one !!!
  23. Thanks Daryl as usual. currently I have oval redback straight through mufflers, which I had long before the Y pipe mod, while these give a nice note giving it some stick, not too loud, its the low rumble which is louder than I wanted, and it travels through the car. I may have to change mufflers to a semi chambered type like I had on my camry.
  24. Ok ive done the Y pipe got a good sound until Im cruising 1500 rpm and below, and the low note gets a little louder, It seems to be reverberating through the wheel arches etc. Is there a soulution to sound proofing?
  25. funny thing, I have had what looks like a flying brown ant in my cluster ever since I bought the car from glen waverly (melb) I hope it wasn't a quarrantine risk bringing it to tassie. LOL
