    KLUGER FOR TOWING

Not a problem with the 700kg trailer, I have found the Kluger does well in that way. Peter

    KX-R 17" Tyres

I got the Dunlop AT3 on mine at the moment, My last set of Dunlop 245/65/17 tyres. I got 60,000 out of them, They did pretty good considering. I am not too happy with the AT3's due to road noise compared to the others, I may just bite the bullet and go for Coopers soon to see if the road noise is a lot better. by 6000 ks the AT3 got noisy. yes they were rotated. Peter
  3. I am just interested in why any one would want side steps on a Kluger as they are low, just interested thats all. Peter
  4. I have Dunlop AT3 on mine, due to the areas I go, I have been in soft sand, I would not do too much real soft sand travelling due to the no low ratio in these. I have been in some real rough terrain, the kluger handled it very well. I believe by my experience that the AWD Kluger is a good all rounder, you just have to remember it is not a full 4x4, and look at where you are heading, make sure of height of obsticles etc. Treat it well and you will get JUST about any where with the AWD Kluger. Sand running makes the engine work hard, but I have yet to let the tires down to fully test her this way. Always best to lower tyre pressure when in soft sand anyway. Always carry a pump for this sort of terrain. hope this helps a bit. Peter

    KLUGER FOR TOWING

I tow quite a bit with my Kluger, Late 2009 KXR AWD, I have towed 1.5 tons, it does not take too much notice of the weight, I have not done too far with that sort of weight. I do tow a 6x4 trailer for camping, usually have quite a bit of weight, but handles that quite well, A lot of my camping is off road, in rough areas and has quite good fuel usage. mind you I can do any thing up to 30 ks at 5 - 10 khr, due to my bird photography. I do not think you will have much trouble at all, as they do have a 2 ton tow rating. Peter

    Polishing new car

I have had my Kluger for a month, I was talked into getting the Paint protection. I love my cars to look their best, but I still wanted to use it as it was made for, going off road and in the bush. I just got rid of my BA ford I bought from brand new, not a scratch on it, but I still went off road for my wild life photography. This is why I got the Kluger suppose to be built for minor off roads. Anyway I went to the same area over Xmas as I had taken the ford, no scratches on her. I went on the same tracks and the Black Kluger is scratched to pieces. Is this coverable by the warranty on th eproduct and can I use any of the Marquie products, being black and a high shine shows up badly. Going into Toyota tomorrow to see what they say. Peter
  7. I have the 5 seater, do not need the 7, as for size, it is pretty well exact size except for height as my old BA ford, I think bumper to bumper the ford was a tad longer. economy is pretty good as far as I can tell at the moment, I have been averaging between 9.6 and 10.2 l per 100 around town (Adelaide) I get just over 600 ks with air con on. I have the AWD due to the fact I do go off road a fair bit. I would not go in some areas due to it not being a 4WD, as it does not have low range. SO I hope you are not confusing your self with AWD and 4WD. I would dare say it will do beach runs as long as you let tyre pressure down. One day I shall test it going over the Coorong fishing and doing photography. As for big for the family, not always the safest, but seeing as technology is going in leaps and bounds the Kluger is surely one of the safe options. Prior to air bags etc, 4x4 and AWD drives were not safe, just big. I do not and more than likely will not regret getting this vehicle. Peter

    fuel mileage

My Kluger Kxr is now a month old, Most times it reads 9.6 to 10.2 depending on the amount of lights I have to stop at. I have not fully tested it out as yet, but I am getting over 600 ks around Adelaide with air con on. Tomorrow it is going in for it's first check up, so we will see if anything changes. Peter
  9. Thanks for the comments everyone. Sorry for the slow reply, been busy. The Kx-r is great to drive, pretty good on fuel with plenty of room. The lens I was shooting with was a 150-500mm lens, I use it for my birding, hence why I chose this AWD. great for getting out where you would not want to take a normal car. Black looks great, but I was talked into having the Paint protection. I went out for some birding. The Kluger was not going anywhere else other than where I had been with my Ford BA. The ford did not scratch but the Kluger is scratched real bad, I have been told it is the Protection that is scratched, can it be buffed out or does it need to be re-done. Or just totally buffed off the vehicle. Thanks all Peter
  10. Well I have been pretty busy lately, but finally got the Brand new Kluger Kxr AWD. Nice in black with Nudge bar. I have had it for just over a week, it is great to drive and is very quiet. I am hoping over the Xmas break I can do a bit of off roading, I do bird photography in my spare time, hense the AWD. This photo was taken the day we picked it up, went for a small drive and stopped just behind the Airport. Peter

    Rotten egg smell??

I have been driving the BA for 51/2 years since brand new. I was told it maybe the Catalytic converter, but I noticed it only since the 1st service. As for the air conditioning, if you have it on recycle it does smell, this is to do with the type of material used with the pads or something, if I use recycle I have to change it to normal 2 to 3 minutes before stopping and turning the car off. If you do not the next time you start the car you get a real bad smell coming through the vents.... This is what the dealer told me, Peter

    Rotten egg smell??

Dido, but you don't have too drive hard. I have a slightly up hill drive way for 7 metres until it flattens out, drive up it and stop at the front of the roller door which is flat. Bugger me that 6 dozen rotten egg smell hits us 7 out of 10 times. When picking up my daughters and there friends, they honestly think their friends old man is ferral.:( 38,000 ks on and nothing has changed I have not yet picked up my Kluger, I will be next week. But on the Smell, I get it with my ford BA. I first noticed it after the very first service. that service was done at 1500 km. I was told it was the fuel we are using ???? so I changed to 95 octaine. there was a bit of a difference in the smell. Plus when the car was tuned correctly it was less evident as well. So by the sound of it I have to get use to the Kluger having the same smell ahh well. Peter
  13. I would like to know this as well, shall look at the link... The reason for me is during the times I am out in the bush, I may get out every five minutes for getting images of birds. Due to the areas I go, I am well off the road and usually the only one around. It is a pain to have to put the belt on for a few hundred metres, or have it so it is belted up behind you. Peter
