  1. Good evening I know its been a while since i made this original post but im back again, hopefully with a better idea of whats going on. Firstly im going to put a ground wire onto the steering wheel control to get the function working again. Secondly, im still figuring out the wiring for the antenna in the rear of the passanger side of the camry, im assuming the wire attached to the window is either the defrost device or the rear window antenna. Does anyone have any diagram, visual assistance with antenna wiring for a camry acv40r? i cannot find it anywhere on the net, and im assuming for my radio to stop crackling on every station i need to earth and put power onto the rear antenna? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciate, im in need of some help, short of me going to an auto electrician and spending money on something i hopefully dont need to Thanks
  2. THanks for all the responses everyone I guess ill just have to live with the fuel consumption reading. I do have amps in the car, a mono amp for the subs and a 700watt amp for the speakers. I have disconnected the mono amp for the subs and the issue still remains. The only other option i have to rule out the amp causing the radio static is to wire up direct to the head unit. But i dont really see how this will make a difference as there is no issue with my music when im playing from cd/usb/ipod. The signal distortion is only through the radio channels.
  3. Evening all I have a couple of issues that i would like to get some feedback on. Im hoping im not the only one that has experienced these "problems'" Ive had the car for 18 months, and have looked after it really really well. Its nearly up to 80k on the clock, my issue is, that no matter how much i baby the car while im driving, taking it really easy on the pedal, i cannot get the fuel consumption to go under 12l/100km. I have it serviced every 6 months, and only put premium fuel in, yet i cannot get good fuel economy out of the drive. Does anyone else experience this? My other issue is that i installed a pioneer DEH-P8100BT head unit when i bought it back in June 2010 and i have never been able to get a radio station without static, i can hear the sound, but i am always hearing distortions while driving and it is really frustrating, i have connected the wires exactly how they are meant to be and have even tried another antenna resulting in the same issue. I have had the radio taken into repairs to be told its apparently perfectly fine, so im just wondering if there is someone out there that has had this issue and resolved it. For antenna power i simply connected the blue antenna wire from the head unit to the orange antenna amplifier wire from the camry. I am told i have to double loop the wire to make the amp on the antenna work? im not even sure how to rectify this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am desperate for some answers. Thanks very much
  4. ok well the sound system is done but even with the orange radio amp wire connected to the red accessory its not clear at all. I need to find out if there is another way to get a better signal from the antenna. I will post pics this week
  5. lol soz man, got a training session after work tomorrow, ill connect the orange wire to the accessory and see if it explodes. Cheers :)
  6. ok so ive put the whole sound system together, one thing i cant fix is the radio. I have channels but they are very static. I noticed theres an orange wire for antenna amplifier but i had no where to put it on my new head unit. Im assuming without this the signal strength will be very weak. Is there any other wire i can connect this to so the signal is boosted? Or do i have to basically get a new antenna now? Yes as the antenna is incorporated into the rear window, an antenna amplifier is used to strengthen it's efficiency. According to the Camry manual, this is usually fed 12v from the radio when it is playing. I'd say you need to feed it 12v to get it to work So would i connect it to the red accessory or the yellow battery wire? and is this safe?

  8. Im in brisbane man, but thanks very much for the offer :)
  9. alright ill take a look and see what i find anyway may as well list what im installing head unit - pioneer p8100bt (bluetooth) amp kit - kicker amps - pioneer 1200watt mono for subs and 120x4 amp for speakers speakers - 6" 230watt splits for front and 6" 300watt for rear Subs - Twin 1000watt pioneers I have a 08 Camry Sportivo, just thinking of replacing the battery with a really good one to support the sound system so the power doesnt dim when im driving with subs on. Any other suggestions will be much appreciated
  10. This is a link DJKOR posted in an earlier post See if it helps http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236753 Thanks very much for the info, one last question. I bought a facia plate today and the toyota parts salesman told me i only needed the front plate for the new head unit to fit in. But when i checked the measurements and put the face of the head unit into the facia to see if it fit flush, i noticed a gap on either side. Any suggestions?
  11. My apologies if there have been 10 million threads about this. I cant seem to find a decent guide. I just bought a Camry Sportivo 08 model and i want to replace the head unit with an aftermarket one. I have ordered the new facia kit etc. But i have no clue how to pull out the factory spec head unit and replace it with my pioneer single din one. Anyone know any good guides for this sound upgrade. I plan to change all the speakers in the car with aftermarket ones and chuck subs in the boot. Your help is greatly appreciated :D thanks very much
  12. thanks very much for the replys. Im thinking of getting a black 06 sportivo model. 19 grand for 75k on the clock isnt too bad. :)
  13. Hi there. I was thinking of buying a new car and im looking at the 2006 camry sportivo. My question is: can the head unit be changed? I dont like using factory spec head units and would prefer an aftermarket one and i was curious if this one could be changed or if its intergrated with the rest of the dash thanks :)
