  1. I'm planning on heading up to the snow! I want to either buy or hire chains. Konig seem to be the most popular brand, and on their sizing chart for 245/55/19 tyres their chain size is '255'. The hire/buy store in Mertylford Vic sell the 'Magic T2' or 'Magic V2' for $430, which are self tensioning. They also sell a Chinese rip-off called the V2 without self tensioning and lower quality steel for $200. The store advised that I check the owners manual for recommendations, if any, on limitations/advice for snow chains, for which the limiting factor is the clearance between the inside of the front tyre and the steering arm knuckle or other critical components. My Question is: Has anyone bought or rented snow chains for a 19" Kluger, did you need a special low profile set, and how easy was it to find / buy / fit? Cheers, and Thanks Roger.
  2. I'm pleased to report that I picked up my new KX-S from Lane Toyota (Melbourne) today with a FULL TANK of fuel despite a momentary 'identity crisis' for the car ;). Good to see that the city dealers also do the right thing. Full credit to "BlindKidSeeks", Cheers Roger.
  3. Whofan Did you say you replaced the 'park-lights' (the duller small globes near the headlight globe proper) with LEDs? If so, which ones did you use pls - I'd be interested in doing the same with mine. Also, did you do the same with your rear park/brake light globes? Cheers Roger.
  4. I'd be interested to hear how many people have 'upgraded' away from the KX-S stereo to a third party unit. I'm not talking about the Flyone unit - I dont have the ability to install it myself - I'm referring to head units from the major afternarket suppliers ie Sony / Pioneer / JVC / Alpine etc. Cheers Roger
  5. Thanks for the heads-up on this. I'm just about to pick up a new KX-S and have an old Nokia 6151. I have been planning to upgrade it - if it doesn't reliably connect to the new car, that'll be enough of a trigger for me to switch to a Sony Erricson ... Anyone know if an iPhone has any issues? Roger.
  6. Hey DadOnBike Interesting that you got such a high quote for the new KX-R. Knowing that these cars sell well, I negotiated and ordered a new KX-S AWD at the end of December for an early April delivery. My price was only a few $000 above your quote. I was happy to order and wait for a specific build and colour (2010 compliance plates) and get it straight off the boat (it arrived at the dealership this week). I believe that the KX-S is the pick of the models in terms of useful stuff for the $$$ (though it would be nice to have built-in GPS). It would be interesting to hear what others are paying for a new one at the moment... Roger.
  7. Gee, Rice Racing - I am surprised to hear your sting on the brand - especially after your detailed run-in and performance measurement thread, where you were glowing about it all.... What happened to make you turn sour? [EDIT] - actually, you dont need to answer that - I just read the last few posts in your performance thread - it seems to be about the dodgy oil line, and general product support you are/were getting from Toyota. I'm sorry to hear of your poor experience - I hope that my Kluger (currently on order) is better in both respects. Roger.
  8. Fantastic! and well done - gutsy to take a relatively new car apart like that, and excellent result! Makes me want to go out and do the same myself. Roger
  9. Well, BKS, it would sure be nice if my Kluger is delivered with a full tank....... hint hint.... Roger

    Kluger Price

I'm currently in the market for a KX-S (AWD) with mats (floor and boot), tint, and towbar. Got a quote for $54.2K on the road, Melbourne. Not sure whether this is any good. I have a couple of months - would like to order now to get delivery when my current lease expires. Is this a good price? What is the current average lead time? Cheers Roger.
