  1. Hi, I'm looking for a picture of the bottom of an Aurion chassis (specifically, the exhaust assembly near the engine) to compare with mine. Does anyone have one by any chance? If not, could someone tell me if there should be a shield around the exhaust weaving circled here? To me it looks like it's sheared off, but this OEM picture (for a lexus) looks like it's meant to be like that... Thanks
  2. Sexy! Misa Campo that is :P ..oh and your car :)
  3. Thankss, one more question. If the compressor cools the air, what happens when you turn the knob to maximum heat with the a/c on? Is the compressor always off..?
  4. Is this the same for the manual a/c? Or when you turn the a/c on in the manual one, it continously runs?
  5. So yeah, took out the air filter for the first time to find heaps of leaves and other pollon stuff (was expecting to see only a bit of dust). Anyone else checked their air filters and found this stuff? Seeing as I don't have an air compressor, it is kind of hard to remove all the debri (got some of it out). Anything wrong with keeping it like this without cleaning? Would I be losing efficiency? Thanks
  6. Do you have a bluetooth handsfree module installed? Could be that..mine does
  7. What is transmission flare? Google didn't give me a proper answer.
  8. I didn't have any "knocking" as such, but there was a humm noise at low speeds, and a grinding noise upon turning sharply on a cold start. Sent it to Toyota to inspect. They found the A/T steering fluid had leaked, and replaced the whole steering rack. Also replaced the VVT-i hose and re-aligned the wheels. Was under warranty so free, but they said approx. $2000 normally..all done within 2 nights :) Car has done 43 000km. Quite happy
  9. Hi all, Need some help removing the air conditioning unit of my AE101R Corolla 1999. I took out most of it and the screws, but it's manually operated so there are two blue wires on top and two more wires on the bottom + the electric wires at the back of it. I managed to take the re-circulate wire out, but am having trouble taking the other 4 wires out and don't want to break the holders. Does anyone know how to take the unit out, or is there a service manual somewhere for it? Edit: Sorry having trouble uploading images using the forums' uploading program, can anyone guide me about this too? :) Thanks! Thanks!
  10. Not sure about the SATNAV unit, but the stock AT-X head unit has it, so I'm assuming the 6-Stacker would too..
  11. you can choose between low and high; think the bass is more clear on high
  12. Dude I know exactly what you're talking about! Most of the time (not always) there is that annoying clunk! And no, it doesn't always happen for cold starts, it happens normally. Never got around to telling Toyota though, just ignored it..my cars done 40000km's, so I'm pretty sure the gearbox would've been "beded" lol.
  13. Hi we're getting far far higher fuel consumptions than most people here - 14.2L/100km! Me, my mum and dad all have a soft foot, and the car hardly ever goes over 2000rpm. Driving was all urban driving with a decent amount of starting/stopping at lights, but 14.2? I think that's way too high for driving with a soft foot.. However, we use the aircon all the time, could this add so much to the fuel consumption?? P.S. This was a one time manual calculation & shall be doing more in the future.
  14. I don't get this, so does this mean it'll change gears close to the redline? Why wouldn't it be the same as flooring it on 'D'? :S And yeah, good luck! Please post a video too :D
  15. So you mean you can't go to the keycutting shop in the shopping centre and ask them to cut a key? Not even to open the doors?
  16. Thanks everyone for your help. Yeah, I never leave the car on for like 3 minutes, only till the rpm goes to about 1000, which take about 45 seconds on in the morning. Thanks.
  17. Sorry, should've done a quick search. I read the manual, and can't find where it says this. The only things about cold starting I could find were "Do not race a cold engine" and under the "How to save fuel section pg 215", it says Could you please give me a reference to where it says its BAD for new car engines? Still unsure whether I should leave the car for a while if it doesn't damage it.. Cheers.
  18. Hello all, My dad believes that on a cold start, you should let the car idle for a while before driving. When you initially start the car it's at about 1500rpm, and he says to let it drop till 1000rpm before driving off. Is this just an old technique which he would've been neccessary for olden day cars, or is it actually better for the car to let it idle for a bit? Thanks
  19. Hey I just managed to get the AUX a few minutes ago. When I asked Jaycar how to connect the resistor to the plugs, the guy recommended tinning the wire and just shoving it in. I "tinned and shoved" one end of the wire into the F8-19 (One left one down from top left corner with the clip thingo you push to take it out facing up), and the other end of the wire I connected it to the resistor, and since the resistor metal wire is so thin, I just shoved the other end of the resistor into socket where the brown ground cable goes in(so there is a brown cable and the resistor wire piece both in at the same time) and it worked! :D Of course this was for testing purposes, and I shall make a proper connection tonight and install it tomorrow :)
  20. No worries. I was too excited to fix it, so never got to read your edit. Hence, I didn't use a multimeter, but managed to fix it with on the second guess :D WOOT For anyone who wants to know, it was F7-4 (Nice guess DJKOR(probably more intelligence than a guess :P)). I also got the AUX to come up on the screen (was quite a nice feeling when it lit up saying "AUX" :)) Shall install the stereo plug tomorrow. Cheers
