  1. I have taken delivery of the new model Prado, and so far, so good. It's a very sophistcated on road performer, with a distinct Landcruiser feel about it off-road. My only real disappointment happened to be on the first and only time I took it off road. It was not a big trip, and it's only done a few hundred kays, so I wanted to keep it gentle. Anyhow, before i start let me say that the front door warning chime bugs the hell out of me. You can't leave the front door open with accessories on or the engine running. There is a list of customisation option listed in the manual, and this may be one of them, so I am hoping Toyota can turn the bleedin thing off. I googled the problem and noted that some enterprising cabbies in London have had to resort to cutting the wire from the car door! Does anyone have any idea how to turn the chime off. While I am on the subject, the new prado's vehicle stability control and traction control system was put to the test, with both electronic and mechanical systems working together to limit wheel spin in soft sand and improve traction. This is a great feature which helps you keep momentum, but again, a very load audible chime (as well as the illuminated dash light) is emitted each time the system kicks in, adding a lot of confusion in the cabin. I have had four prados, and grew up around 80 and 100 series. The toyotas of old only really beeped or buzzed at you when something was wrong. I was taught to shut things down if a warning buzzer or alarm signed. The new Prado's system chimes repeatedly when all systems are working perfectly. I'm certainly hoping there is a way to shut down these annoying cabin chimes to ensure I am left to focus on the job at hand. Cheers 1310greg
  2. Hiya all, I have just taken delivery of my fourth prado, only the second brand newie, and so far impressed. I have a few query about the bells and whistles that the manual can't seem to fix, so here's hoping you can help. The new model is a big leap forward. Cheers Greg
