  1. 2010 corolla usually 95 ron fuel = 6.5l but then again ive got 10 k on the clock and just got back from gold coast via tenterfield to snowy mtns due to cut roads
  2. Theres no reason why a competent welder or boilermaker (and not some dodgy mate of a mate) couldnt reweld it if you were in a big hurry for it, but seeing its under warranty id wait and save the trouble.
  3. Ive also noticed the oddness of the stereo sound. It hard to describe but its like you are not hearing all the sounds. like half the music is muffled. its as if the mid sounds are non existent. I thought it was just me but when i play the same cd in my ford i can determine the sounds a lot easier. it may have related to the speaker positioning. sound deadening could be the go.
  4. The surface doesn't necessarily have to change, if could be the thickness of the glass and the shape of the reflector behind it that can change the way the mirror reflects. Id prefer to have a flat mirror and put up with the blind spot. I just cant seem to get the hang of trying to guess where the car ends and how close i am to hitting something. Can anyone suggest a supplier to replace the curved mirror with a flat one. Ive consider sikaflexing a flat mirror over the original one but dont like shoddy looking work and that would look very dodgy.
  5. Can anyone recommend a good sound deadener matting or brush on and was it worth the effort/cost?
  6. thanx for that . ill try it this week and see how it goes.
  7. anyone know how to turn off the seat belt reminder chime?
  8. Hi Dutchie the colour is graphite. Your last statement sums up the feelings i have regarding a touch up job, that will just worsen a bad situation. I am going to get a few more quotes b4 i do anything at this stage and that will give me time to scrape up the money.
  9. thanks for the tips . unfortunately it is quite deep so im going to give the touch up paint a go and then hit it with clear over the top, then cut it back to the finished level. will give an update when i see the results of this bandaid. However, everytime i look at the door my eye goes striaght to the scratch and evil thoughts for the person responsible.
  10. I sourced 3 quotes ranging from 230 - 600+. Has any one here had a repair on metallic paint and if so how close did the painter match it? Can anyone recommend a spray painter in the canberra area?
  11. our new corolla has just been keyed. the scratch is on passenger side door and about 200 mm long but not quite down to the metal.I know there is little I can do about it apart from fixing it asap. any suggestions on repair or is it a trip to my new favorite spray painter? B)
  12. Thats interesting but not surprising. Over on the Ford Terrritory forums owners are discussing how ECU "reflashes" or tunes are voiding warranty and other issues. Obviously, the tone in this forum is more positve towards getting the most out of our cars and not complaining about warranty issues (may be a demographic thing ie older owners v revheads), but you may want to be aware that any mods will more than likely leave you out on a limb when it comes to any warranty. Having said that how much more kw can we get from chipping a new corolla?
  13. Ever since camshafts took that giant evolutionary step out of the ocean (block) and onto land (head), us educated people have referred to them as cam-covers :P Or valve cover ;) and I only sold my 20th century encyclopedia because i thought i knew everything, pity we are in the 21st century now.
  14. mmm do you mean the rocket cover for the anti nuisance vehicle missile system, located behind the headlights, (available only in the iraqi and afghanistan models) or the rocker cover that sits on top of the engine head?
  15. we have eventually recieved our corolla. What a gr8 and fun car to drive but im finding the clutch a bit on the light side and hate the side mirrors, I dont like how they are not flat and give a deceptive view of whats behind when reversing. Alot different to our 78 corolla we owned years ago. The new rolla was originally bought for the missus but I havent given her much opportunity to drive since delivery. I gave it a good going over with the meguires on the weekend and it looks great. Ill try to post up some images soon. cheers
