  1. Thanks kluger2 that link was spot on. I found that I didn't need to touch the bumper at all. I managed to get the tail light off just the same. You do need to have the special long socket set though and a small handle to get into the confined space. Apart from the socket set and handle costing me $58.00 I think I got out of it relatively cheap. A lot cheaper than if I went to a dealer to get it replaced and now I have the socket set as well.
  2. Thanks kluger2 that info looks like it might do the trick. At least I can see what I'm up for. I just picked up the light today so I'll attempt the procedure this weekend. Will let you know how I go.
  3. Have managed to get a good deal on a genuine tail light with a dealer. Just wanted to ask the members if any one has changed a tail light on a Kluger as yet and how hard was the process. Are there any tricks to it, is it easy to change or difficult. If any one has any feed back it would come in very handy as I'm contemplating changing the damaged tail light myself.
  4. Over here in the West the dealers quoted me $342.85 it comes as a complete housing. They don't sell the plastic cover separately. I can get after market LED tail lights for around $360.00 for a pair shipped to Australia. If I don't have any luck with the wreckers I have contacted I think I might pimp my ride while I'm at it.
  5. Just smashed my right hand side tail light last night. Totally ****** off. Got a price from Toyota spare parts and nearly fell backwards. Amazingly the bumper repaired itself within a couple of hours. The plastic bumper just popped back to its original shape. Between my wife and myself have had a few minor mishaps like this and this car is just amazing. Some how it manages to survive major damage. Except this time with the tail light. Would any members know where I would be able to get genuine spares at better prices than the dealers or are they the only registered genuine spare parts suppliers in Australia. It seems I can get prices for parts out of the US for the Highlander Model which is the same as ours shipped here much cheaper. Don't really want to claim on my insurance the excess is about the same as the cost of the light and I would lose my no claim bonus. Any suggestions.
  6. Any tips on where I would find it. I've no idea when it comes to this stuff. I presume its under the bonnet somewhere.
  7. Just wondering if anyone can help in locating the relay switch for the parking lights in my Kluger. I want to connect Led strip lights to it so I can switch them on or off together with my parking lights. Saves putting on the headlights for daytime driving. A pic with the location would be extremely helpful. If anyone has done this tips would be appreciated as well.
  8. Look into the Kumho tyres. We have had ours on now with 41000kms wear and still going strong. Should get around 60000kms. I think they are a bit cheaper than the Bridgestone tyres as well. Have a set of 265/40R/22's on which gives you a very smooth ride. Very little roll on cornering and the cars handles alot better. Worth changing to 22's but just watch your insurance if you do so. Otherwise I'm sure the 19's in the Kumhos would wear just as well. Great price you got on the Bridgestones but if you're not getting the mileage out of them shouldn't you be looking at other tyres?

  11. If you had invested in the Grande it would have solved your problem . Our kids have the dvd player on most journeys and you don't hear a peep . Totally worth it.
  12. Did that lowered the pressure to 20 psi but it was still getting bogged.
  13. I have recently started taking our AWD Kluger off road. Had no problem taking it through bush at Wellington Dam WA and handles well on gravel roads but on our last outing on the beach North of Perth we had some trouble getting through soft sand. I know that the Kluger is not a proper 4WD but does anyone have any tips on how to drive a Kluger in soft sand. It travelled well while the beach was flat but as soon as I reached a slight embankment close to the shore line as I tried to pick up the revs to get up it the car started beeping and the engine lost power and the accelerator cut out. After friends of mine got me out of the mess I backed up the beach and tried again. The same thing happened as the car gained momentum and I started to climb the embankment the engine lost all revs and the car was bogged again. Gave up in the end and ended up going to Wedge Island North of Lancelin instead where the sand on the beach is a lot firmer. If anyone has any tips on driving a Kluger on the beach they would be greatly appreciated. I should also mention that a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee was getting bogged in the same spot so my Kluger wasn't doing too badly considering the circumstances.
