Hi Tengis, I did end up getting this fixed. So about 9 months before this post my air conditioning compressor started making bad bearing noise and was replaced. At that stage they told me I would not need to replace the condenser. We then went into winter and stopped using it. The condenser was actually becoming blocked and was spiking pressure and overloading the compressor, causing it too cut out. If they had replaced the compressor and condenser at the same time it would have saved me money in having it regassed the second time. Not only that, but the pressure was spiking to 200psi and has potentially taken some life out of the new compressor. The airconditioning specialist I went to the second time was adamant that if they checked the pressures correctly they would have discovered the condenser was stuffed. Anyway all sorted now and working very well

Hi all, After a bit of help with an issue with my airconditioner in my 2006 ATX. So when the outside temp is low ie morning the aircon works perfect no issue. Once the day warms up and it get to about 25 degrees the compressor will cut in, the revs will jump up and then the compressor will cut out again. So no cold air coming through. I have had it checked by a workshop but as luck would have it there was no issue found and it worked perfectly for them. Anyone had a similar issue and traced it back to relays, sensors??? Any help is appreciated.

So guys Need some help tracking down why the rear demist has stopped working. The fuse seems to be fine. Does anyone know where the wiring hooks up to the window?

Thanks Full throttle thats exactly the answer i needed. I think instead of taking the spoiler off i will do what you suggested in sealing from the outside. I can also see it lifting a little so maybe the clips are broken on mine as well.

So a bit of an update. Had the rear window resealed by a different company and they successfully stopped the leak ....yay. They were pretty unimpressed with the butchered job the first company had done. Holes in the sealant! But now I have new leak coming in from the spoiler by the looks of it arggghhh. At least it should be a relatively easy fix. So has anyone taken their spoiler off and is it held down with glue or is it just a seal? On a side note I have just had the belt tensioner go at 145000klms, so new tensioner and drive belt done for roughly $1200. I'm starting to find it harder to call her my ever reliable Toyota.

Thanks Auri While i have water coming in at that exact spot as the diagram, its while the car is stationery and with rain. Have to take off the strip on the roof gutter next I think.

Yeah ended up doing that and its not visibly getting in anywhere obvious. I seems to be somewhere up higher in the qtr panel. Had the windscreen guys come back and double check the window, they put extra sealant around the window so we are pretty sure its not from there. So that leaves the roof gutters?

Nah no sunroof. Its really driving me nuts!

Hi guys I have a bit of a problem and want to see if anyone else has tracked down the problem. There is water getting into the boot of my 2006 Aurion and it is ending up in the right hand boot pocket mostly (the jack side).You can see that it is trickling down the wheel arch when you take off all the boot trim. So coming from high up in the rear qtr panel. I have had the rear window taken out and resealed and it still leaks. The main boot weatherstrip is also new. So I am thinking it might be coming from the roof gutter? Has anyone removed the black strip on the roof and how does it come off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have just had to replace the water pump in my car, 2006 model with only 120,000klms. Cost .... $1200 most of which was labour as the job take 8-9hrs apparently. Toyota wanted $1800!!! So worth shopping around. They said it was tricky but were able to leave the engine in place, so I guess if Toyota drop the engine that's why it costs more. Anyway the signs were a slow drop in the coolant level, a bit of bearing noise on start up that went away after 30 secs or so and a few white flecks of coolant on the brake fluid reservoir. So all in all a bit disappointing due to the low klm's and being well looked after and serviced regularly. I would think that due to its location you would put a fairly strong water pump in.

Thanks for the answer DJKOR. I had read about the vvti stuff on here before but didn't put two and two together. Just put it down to another strange sound from this engine lol It is slightly concerning as at times i have actually heard a noise like piston slap under medium to hard acceleration and would have to assume the cause is the same. That noise happens far less often than the Grrr noise at start-up, although it did occur once straight after a service. Hopefully total failure is fairly rare, especially after reading of the cost to fix if out of warranty.

^ I wouldnt worry about it Silver Aurion, if you had this issue you would definitely know about it. I have this randomly in my car and it is a loud and very unusual noise on start-up. Sounds very much like a mechanical Grrrr noise as others have stated, coming from the top end of the motor. I did tell Toyota about it at one of my services ( 75000klm from memory ) and as with all random noises it didnt occur for them and I was told all is fine. Although surely someone in Toyota service knows what it is ! I now have 100,000klm's so im hoping due to its infrequent nature that it is nothing to worry about. It would be great to have an answer to what engine component the noise is coming from though.

Hey mate, just check and see if you can return the part if it does not line up correctly. I say that cause we used to sell non genuine panels at my old work and eventually stopped as the panel beaters could never get them to fit properly. You may get a perfect one but sometimes there is a reason why thay are so cheap. The rumour was that they bought the old panel stamps from the genuine factory supplier, so it had probably punched out quite a few panels by the time they got it. It is very cheap though compared to genuine (around $500 or so new) so its probably worth checking out :)

^ Wow that would suck big time. I think i have been lucky to find it sooner rather than later.

Just had an oil change done and luckily the mechanic removed the plastic engine cover. A rat has been taking advantage of the residual heat coming from the engine on our cold Canberra nights, not sure how long it had been doing this, but long enough to get a decent amount of crap under there :( I was very sceptical until he took me in the workshop and showed me the nest and the mess it had made in the valley. It had been chewing the foam on the underside of the engine cover and thankfully it was that and not the injector wiring that runs through that area. So it might be worth popping the cover off everynow and then if you have rodents in your area, cause apparently its a nice place to hang out. Not to mention there was no other visible signs of it being there. Now the hunt begins ........ and some ratsack !!!

^ I had mine replaced (20000 klm's ago) and it still occasionally holds 2nd in the same way as yours Sandmgray's , I find if i accelerate a bit harder it will change gears. Haven't yet had to explain to the cops that I'm speeding through the suburbs cause i want the transmission to select 3rd lol. And yeah it has never been as smooth as other Aurions i have been in. At least the flaring stopped though.

Thats a really low act . I guess it's because we are not like them, that we will never able to understand why they do **** like that. Its the same sort of thinking that allows people to open they're car door onto the car parked next to them. Not cool at ALL.

Drove their car and was pleasantly suprised at the power, comfort and equipment level. Started looking around and found a White ATX at a very good price. Had a rear wing, 16" Kappas , and tinted windows. That was 2yrs and about 40000klms ago and would have to say it has been my best car choice so far. I have had V8's that chewed juice (and had less power) and so called locally made luxury cars that were not as comfortable as my "base" model Aurion. Still very happy with Ally the Aurion :)

^ That is one HUGE rear skirt on the white car Although on reflection, maybe this is just an extreme version of the current trend of "lets ruin the look of a cars behind, just cause we can " philosophy. Thinking new Liberty sedan as one of my most annoying rear styling changes, along with our Sportivo.

I would say without, its a very clean and sleek look.

I agree with the above post regarding the sportivo's , it does take a while to get used to a new look, but I think its going to take a looong time to get used to that rear end.

I hate poor customer service. I wanted to buy a new laptop , anyway the one on display was password locked. So i asked for it to be unlocked so i could have a play with it to see how easy it was to use , what the touchpad was like etc. So the sales assistant goes yeah i can do that and unlocks it and goes away. Not thirty seconds later he comes back and informs me if he does not stay by my side he cant leave the computer unlocked, pushes in front of me , (hits alt,ctrl,delete) and locks the computer. WALKS AWAY and starts talking to his mate at the front of the store ................ what the ****** . After being treated like that I went to a different store and bought a laptop that day , so they missed a sale but it really p***es me off when people in retail dont understand customer service ... its your job !!!!!!!

Bad bad drivers, just when you think you have seen the worst of them , somebody comes along and ups the ante ! I was sitting at a T intersection ( im turning right ) waiting for a Commodore to pass from the left. He slowed right down and at the last moment put his indicator on to turn right down my road. He then stopped completley and waved at me to go out in front of him... what the , he had right of way !!! He was an older driver but not old enough to be doing that kind of S**T !

So true mate, the reason why i bought an aurion (as i owned a falcon) was because i could not stand the build quality in the ford.....but to be honest i didn't realise toyota slacked off this much im dissapointed. My 95 camry that i had back in the day was absolutely perfect ! I really hate this plastic s*** Toyota needs to return to making cars the way they used to make them. I feel the same , my 95 V6 Camry touring was rock solid , very quiet on the road and even at 15years old was an excellent car to cruise in , the interior held up very well. I can only hope the aurion holds up to that standard !

For me it is my old 1978 UC torana. Lowered ,resprayed and with a bored out 202 six cyl with flat top pistons, 350 holley ,extractors and exhaust. Light weight with moderate power = a lot of fun. It was a very rough ( too low ) and raucious car and i loved it !
