  1. I wonder if mine is going to be quicker than both of yours next week. (lets see what the 5afte can handle eh?) With a highflowed gt25 ihi turbo on a 2001 sportivo.. 2.5catback system with TRD muffler (custom 3inch dump) / custom manifold. sard fuel regulator , k&n flat panel. turbosmart t piece boost controller / garrett boost gauge, standard ecu mapping. standard fmic (toms tuned) (number 38 of 110 2001 sportivo turbo). Didnt change the profile of the standard turbo ..but highflowed it as big as a gt28 catridge! Hoping for at least 180kw (if it throws a rod.. the 5agte build will have to start a bit sooner!) ------------------------------------- I doubt your car will get anywhere near 180kw atw. Your stock engine is a 7A, not a 5A. 180kw @ the wheels or @ the flywheel ? in both circumstances though i would have to agree with Jason aka Cha54 ..... i dont think u would b able to get the 7A with that turbo up to that much power. bah typo.. i meant to say 7afte hehe. yeah i know its got no forged pistons..but it handles 150kw fine. im sure another 30 aint exactly that hard. - if it blows it blows big deal - just shows its limits. hehe besides its nothing anyway.. the stagea is lucky to be on 230kw on 12psi.. you guys are such a bunch of negative ******wits and jokers and this forum sucks ****.. you dont help each other all you do is throw ego's around. No wonder all the other communities of cars think your soft cocks.. you are. ill go back to skylines where people actually help each other and arent so far up their own ****s they cant see daylight..bunch of try hards. oh wow my zre has 180kw .. so **** what ? thats puss. lol

  3. i thort id post up my highflow for the rolla ihi rb5 with garret gt25 rear! should be back together next week ..should go better! BEFORE http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll166/Keir_Mclean/rolla%20turbo%20deconstruction/ihirb5.jpg AFTER http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll166/Keir_Mclean/rolla%20turbo%20deconstruction/P8260162.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll166/Keir_Mclean/rolla%20turbo%20deconstruction/P8260163.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll166/Keir_Mclean/rolla%20turbo%20deconstruction/P8260165.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll166/Keir_Mclean/rolla%20turbo%20deconstruction/P8260167.jpg
  4. Well the old ihi RB5 is knackered mixing oil in the water and leaking water lines from the turbo ended up ripping it out.. not worth rebuilding it its tiny. So ive decided on something bigger and better. garret gt2860rs turbo (there was kits for a gt25's but they looked to small) from queenslands MTQ. total cost of $1604 retail with in bonnet turbosmart gated boost controller and garrett boost gauge. will need a new fuel regulator i suspect also.. ( anyone know of any regs suitable that arent overkill?). Also going to get a custom hi mount exhaust manifold made up as the stocky low mount leaves very little room to work with. its also been dodgied up with a weld across one of the headers thats now leaking air again anyway so its time to get the bin. (planing to build a 7age for it in the near future with 4age head / forged pistons and 7afe block.) going to keep the boost low for the time being until new motor is built. If anyone has done this retrofit with a 7afe please let us know what turbo you used and manifold. Pics so far of the tear apart more to come. (apologies for the clarity of the shots will take them in daylight next time). http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll166/Keir_Mclean/rolla%20turbo%20deconstruction/ihirb5.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll166/Keir_Mclean/rolla%20turbo%20deconstruction/rollaenginebay.jpg
  5. I've done a bit of reading with the 5age engines in ae112r's that you can use 4age pistons / cranks and heads for a decent 5agze kind of build. My question is has anyone here done anything similar with a 5age/7age and what parts were needed. do they use the same crank etc ? Am very interested in building a decent 150+kw engine for the 2001 sportivo with a fresher turbo and then ripping out the old 5age completely for the refit when the new one is ready. any info would help greatly ;)
  6. Well yesterday i found out my turbo had a cracked housing and was leaking from the oil and coolant lines, and intercooler piping was drawing air...not cool. I've decided im going to book it in at MHQ for a hiflow and a bigger compressor wheel (and hopefully a new inlet housing) of the standard ihi turbo. Keeping the exhaust side standard for the quick spool. Theres no room for a vf28 mod unless its side mounted from the sheer lack of room. any info on mods for this model would be handy especially in the zorst department.
  7. i found motul gearoil made alot of difference for the ae112r. (cleaner changes) and previously used penrite 15-30w engine oil with not to bad results. going to try redline gear oil next.
  8. this is interesting :- Toyota never made a wide-valve angle 7A-GE based on the 7A, but many enthusiasts have created one using a combination of 7A-FE parts (block, crank, rods) and 4A-GE parts (head, pistons). Likewise, an unofficial supercharged "7A-GZE" could be built from 7A-FE and 4A-GZE parts. hmmm a 7a-gze keke
  9. Hmm ive got a similar vibration turning left in the AE112R sportivo , i figured the chirping sound was from the brake pad giving its 'wear sound' as when i jump on the brakes it disappears and secondly is starting to create a pull on the steering when you hit bumps or lumps in the road. (no doubt requires a balance and an alignment). next to figure out this caliper assembly got the caliper nut off , just not the caliper and its not budging. I suspect theres more bolts to take off that are hooked up to those ridiculously tight brake lines??
  10. ive got a dry stiffness in first gear in a 2001 sportivo 5 speed. ive only had the car a few weeks but apart from 1st it seems fine. with 133,000kms on it. never changed its gearbox oil but i've been recommended redline 75w90. (i'll let you know how that goes) wouldnt mind knowing the engine oil capacity of the 7a's 1.8litre anyone?
  11. Im sorry I gotta get something straight. You were given one of these??? What number is yours? I have the same Sportivo turbo model, and id definitely reccommend the upgrade of the turbo and manifold (as ive done this and is a massive upgrade!), changing the restrictive exhaust, getting rid of the stupidly long intake pipe and a Boost controller set to 10psi or less :) Theres really no bolt on mods for this car, if you want to upgrade it will have to be custom work. Unless you open it all up and put in stronger rods and pistons and running a larger turbo and more boost :P Post pics im intrigued to see yours :) Karl. EDIT: They run an IHI RHF4 Turbo one of the smallest that they make. Ok that's pretty much the size of it 'new turbo'. its number 38 of 110. yes its definately one. From the looks of the turbo i imagined it was small and yeah the manifold looks ugly. It has a 2.5inch catback with a reasonable muffler though which is a bonus i guess, but on this turbo totally useless. it needs at least a vf28-vf34! I have a spare t-piece boost controller and gauge but no point overboosting it yet till i get a compression test on this engine and see where it stands. http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll166/Keir_Mclean/keirs%20random/rollasportivonumber38of110aspx.jpg
  12. I just got given a 2001 gold limited edition turbo rolla i believe its a - AE112R. Sure its got a 5-8psi turbo with a tiny fmic but its quite a lacklustre setup which would be lucky to be dynoing at 100kw's im thinking. very torque based turbo and chuggy on the rev ranges. My question is what have people done to revive this setup ? (other than move to the newer vvti/li platform)is there many bolt on mods for this engine apart from adding a much bigger turbo? Any suggestions are helpfull :) 120,000km engine owned by old people and well looked after.
