  1. Hi all, sent my SA zze122 for a wheel alignment today after noticing that the front passenger tyre was worn a bit more on the outside edge. was home reading the alignment results and comparing it to the service specifications posted by Dave (http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/11228-suspension-service-specifications/). camber specs for the SA zze122 for 195/60r15 is suppose to be: -0"31' +/- 45' left right error of less than 45' mine seems to be way off especially the LHS front. was the wheel alignment not done correctly? should i go back for a re alignment? the reference wheel diameter was also wrong: its suppose to be 15. does this matter? btw, the zze122 front camber is adjustable right?
  2. I can't see the length on the old belt. the writing is quite faded. hence the concern for a change soon. best i could made out on my belt is 90916-02544, which seems to be right. (its superseded by 99366-H1830 now). The toyota part is quoted at $96.92. quite expensive? the parts salesperson told me that the 99366-H1830 is 1830mm. I am thinking of getting a gatorback of 1815mm instead. suitable?
  3. 99366-H1830 supersedes 90916-02544. and i suppose 1830 = 1830mm not cm :P was also told that the 99366-H1810 replaces the 90916-02551. the length would be the key i guess. how much length difference is ok? bosch catalog says 6pk1815 (1815mm)
  4. I have been given this part number: 90916-02544 (old) which has seen been updated to 99366-H1830 (new). Anyone know which is right? same part just different number? Length wise? I am assuming H1830 means 1830cm. I have a SA made zze122 though. same as the JPN one?
  5. digging up this old topic, does anyone know the part number for the 1zz serpentine belt? whats the length, to cross reference to non-oem parts?
  6. i would once i actually stop leaving out of can food.. life is tough as a student..
  7. rocker cover dude. i was hoping to do it once and right. so preferably with a torque wrench. re the oil filter, was hoping not to make a mess. you hv any to spare? :D
  8. please please, would anyone be nice enough to loan me a torque wrench, preferably 3/8 drive. attempting to do my rocker cover. btw, would also like to borrow a 3 leg oil filter wrench or a toyota filter cap. need to get an overly tighten oil filter which my previous mechanic did I will be happy to pick up and drop off. If you are near Herston, that would be even better! ^_^
  9. Hi everyone. was greeted by a ugly oil leak when I raised my car to do an oil change. (this is a 2004 corolla 1zz) I did not notice any oil stains on the concrete. The seems to be behind the engine, facing the firewall, lower section, below the oil chain tensioner. After having a closer inspection, I also noted some oil on the front, to the left of the manifold, on the engine. I have tried to clean it up a bit to help identify the leak as I cannot identify the leak source. Could it be the chain tensioner? I also tried to clean the chain tensioner area initially. Thus it looks cleaner in the pictures, but it was also covered in black oil. also took off the plastic cover to have a look at the valve seals. looks alright. It is engine oil right? golden brown colour... Also what is the component circled in red (clean under view 4) with the rusty looking thing? Maybe some one with a better eye can help me out? I don't notice any performance difference, nor is the engine light on. Please helppp.... Or any very affordable mechanic that anyone could recommend?
  10. dropped by a local SCA for a car battery test today. was told the battery is good, just that it needs a charge from a battery charger. results are: volts:12.41v CCA measured 275 CCA rating 325 do i really need to buy a battery charger? car cranks up fine atm, but battery is quite old.
  11. thats for a coolant change? how abt if I wanna flush the system? I am switching brands?
  12. dragging out this old thread here.. how exactly do I do this right? could someone give me step by step? do we flush using tap water or distilled water? how do I go about flushing the heater block and engine block? I do need to warm up the car and turn on the heater to open the thermostat? can I run the car with the radiator cap off? cheers!
  13. yea kenshin, thanks for your guide! i replaced the o-ring using your guide. looking at the radiator, other then the drainage plug, there seems to be nothing else there. anyone can verify that is the correct toyota product to use on the car?
  14. everything else is dry as a desert. i ran my fingers and a piece of tissue down the entire length of the radiator. the only place tt is wet with coolant is the drainage outlet when u stick your finger into the hole. its now much better with the new o-ring, leaks a lot less. but nevertheless leaks a bit, i will monitor and see how it goes and hopefully it stops. anyone else got any ideas? other then the drainage outlet at that corner, is there anything else that may possibly leak?
  15. Hey guys, Question regarding the o-ring on the radiator drain plug. So I noted a leak at the drainage hole, and hence i went to buy a replacement o-ring, 16492-21050 for my 2004 corolla (SA model). Swap the o-ring over with the help of a few fingers, and manage to do it loosing only a small amout of coolant. Now the issue is that it still leaks from the drainage outlet with the new o-ring? i am sure i changed the o-ring correctly, pushed it into the groove and screwed the thing back. There appears to be a slow dripping leak still? seems to occur more frequently after cooling down rather then while driving <---maybe i am wrong about this
  16. So the brakes suck.. Is there any way to inspect them visually? I am buying one off second hand and want to check this. Also, does anyone know if ABS became standard in 2004 (pre-facelift) thanks.
  17. Hi, Newbie here. I read from this forum that the SA made (VIN: AHxxx) corollas are terrible. The brakes give problems? Any other problems that might occur? Is the terrible build quality standard across the years? Or did they rectify it over the years since my model was superseeded in 2005 by the newer model. I am asking as the car I am about to buy is SA made, and the car is great until I found out where it was build (I thought the toyotas were all from Japan since its nearer) in and its problem. Or should I just avoid it like a plague? Another question, are the corollas from that generation have all wheel disc brakes? Thanks.
