  1. Hi, I installed this flyaudio unit when I bought the car. So far (it's being 3 years), it has worked fine. I think once or twice the SD card was damaged, but I keep a backup on my PC, and a spare card in the glove compartment just in case. But these days, if I were to get an aftermarket, I'd look into an Android based device. A lot more flexibility and options not only for maps, but for players and media. I initially used it for playing videos for the kid, and I'm a heavy user of maps, but now we have a cheap tablet for the kid for videos, and we use the unit mainly for maps and music. Still think an android one would be better. The thing I like the most is that it looks like an OEM unit, not like the one that came with. Good luck
  2. yep, no issues for me re: fumes or anything like that. About the fuel filter, yes I heard that before. I'll probably fill it up once the warning light turns on. I've had no problems with my kluger doing this since day one. Cheers
  3. Hi all, I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing for my Kluger. Since day 1, I tend to run the car almost until empty. I usually fill over 50 L of fuel every time. My other thing is that I tend to fill it up to the neck. Usually the pump will jump a lot earlier, so I pull it a bit and then keep filling. Once it fills, I pull it more and keep filling at least 1-2 more litres. So the question is, is this damaging the car or something? should I only fill up until the pump stops? how do others fill their Klugers?
  4. Hi, middle seat can actually fit a car seat. It does have an anchorage point (At least on the 2010 model). I used to have my kid there until we decided to move him next to the window. Y can accommodate two adults on each side, but I don't think you can put a car seat in the middle and side together. Why don't you take your car seats to a dealer and try?
  5. Thanks croco, I've had a look at their site, but couldn't find any specific for kluger. I'll drop by this weekend to an ARB and see what's there. I was hoping someone has done this "mod" and provide some adivce (and costs if possible).
  6. Hi Forum, A silly accident left me with the plastic cover under the engine broken. I spoke to toyota and they said I should replace it (obviously, since they want to sell me the part). I was wondering if there are alternatives to this cover. As I understand, it's not critical, and eventually I can leave it as it is, but it's "advisable" to replace it (apparently water and debris may enter the engine though there). My question to the experts, is there an alternative for this? like a steel cover, or an aluminium one? or should I stick to the original plastic one? I don't intend to do off road (only the casual unpaved road). The original part was quoted at ~$200. I'm wondering if I'll get better value for money with an after market. Thanks
  7. Same here, just did the 30K services, asked them to have a look. Still not breaking/parking the car. And I've asked this since day 1 (1K, 10K, 20K)
  8. Hi, my kluger is an AWD, and yes, I'm very disappointed with the Kms done. I've had other cars/tyres that lasted over 80K so I'm very surprised about these. And it's not that you will be drifting or anything like that with this car. I did drove once Mel - Bris and back, but I don't see why that would affect wear. Anyway... Just went around this afternoon and found a few options: Kmart: bridgestone D400 $359; Kumho 345$ Bob Jane (over the phone): bridgestone 340$, Falcon 285 I also asked for the Yoko Advan 255/55 and Bob jane said could do 395$ each. I know people will have different points of view on which tyre is better, but at least can I ask which tyres to stay away from? also, I noticed there's a lot of people who were looking for tires 1-2 years ago in different treads. Any updates, What did you chose in the end? cheers
  9. Hi, same here, I've 30,000 Km. Just came back from my service and they advised to change all 4 tyres (I knew that a while ago by seen the tyres). Coming back here after a very long time to see if there are new comments regarding tyres. same question, any suggestions?
  10. maybe a fuse blew with the change of battery?
  11. Do a simple calculation on your next refill (make sure you fill the tank both times). (Total L filled / Km traveled )* 100 it's not as exact as the onboard computer, but should be a close enough - within 1 to 2 L/100 KM)
  12. Hi, I have the same unit and agree, it's not from ebay, and it's not cheap. Agreed with the pros, and divx playback through USB is a big plus for me to keep the little one entertained during long trips. I haven't had this issue, however i use an ipod for all the music and it has never skipped a track. Had the unit locked once that I remember. Did a reset and all back and running. What happened to me once was losing all the data on the microSD card. Don't know why, all lost/corrupted. It always pays off to have a backup. I even carry a backup on my phone's SD card (I know! too much!!) Same issue here, and map runs on the background unless you turn it off. However, I just turn on the car, keep the ipod or a movie running and no issues at all. Usually I'm not searching for music. Even during video playback, you can still listen to the driving directions. Some times it does, some times it doesn't. Can't explain the different situations, but I have tested it and it does. Haven't found a pattern yet. I tried this with my previous WinMo phone and it was fine. Haven't tested it with the iPhone, will do. Agreed. Let me know if you hear from Easypark about a firmware upgrade. I'll be interested. Anybody with this unit tried to run any other GPS software?
  13. I also have the front sensors and never use them. Pretty useless as Ash40. If you fit a nudge bar, you only have room for 2 side sensors
  14. I once drove ~50 Km more once the Km to go reached 0. And when filling the tank, I still had ~ 4 liters to go (at and average of 14Km/L, that's ~28 Km). But, I won't risk it further!
  15. An auto electrician here.. goody. How much do you charge for installation? What's a "fair" price.. I don't wanna get ripped off by others Installation of the audio unit is very straight forward. With the info on this post and the instructions online, it's very easy. The bit that takes more time is removing the panel, since everybody wants to be extra careful not to damage it. The rest is just plug and play, even the hazard switch.
  16. Well, I must correct myself. I have the same setup as you. After diggin into the boot, I found the small "tweeter" stuck to the car with velcro. However, the previous sensors I had in my previous car were too loud. I feel this one is the right volume, and I already know how slow the are to react (once hit a wall with the other car), so I got used to how it works. The front sensors on the other hand, I feel they are incorrectly placed and basically are useless.
  17. Just a side note (from my little knowledge). As far as I know, the fact that two devices connect via bluetooth, doesn't mean they can transfer data or files or all the "bluetooth protocol" allows. It depends on the hardware and what each bluetooth device is capable of doing. Could be that the audio units only allow for a sort of handsfree connection - like a handsfree earpiece. But this doesn't mean it won't work.
  18. Hi all, As far as i know, bluetooth can only handle one connection at the time. That means that even if you have two phones configured in the system, only the last phone paired will re-pair automatically. If you want to change the phone, you have to manually do it. Both my HTC and my wife's iPhone paired quickly when each was the last connected. But it was a hassle to change which phone to connect. That is with the standar KX-S audio unit and with the flyaudio that I have upgraded. Solution for me, my wife uses the car the whole week, so just leave her phone programmed. Over the weekends, I just use her phone if I need to make a call while I'm driving, or use my speakerphone if I'm driving alone. And BTW, the latest flyaudio unit can access your mobile phonebook as well as the sim card numbers. Downside is that there is no search function. I need to scroll through the XXX number of contacs I have to find one - it's faster using the phone and then hit dial! Calichin
  19. Mine are ok, and were included with the car (I assume toyota original), which are very different to the previous one I had in my previous car. you can't trust it 100%, you always need to look behind, and it's a bit slow in the feedback (meaning if you are reversing too fast, the beeps won't speed up as you expect). I think mine is hooked to the rear speakers. I'll have a look tonight and post back.
  20. Unit installed, all working , just a few questions regarding some connections. Will seek help tomorrow. BTW, phonebook sync with iphone works ok bluetooth also tested and working GPS working (iGO) DVD working USB with MP3 & videos working steering wheel controls working. Will test phone tomorrow. Calichin
  21. Congratulations! I've had mine for ~ month and I'm really happy. One thing I want to point out is that I heard that the roof mounted DVD can block your rear mirror view. Also keep in mind that (I'm pretty sure but can't confirm 100%) the flyaudio unit can be connected to extra screens, say head rest screens. I'm thinking about getting headrest units for each side, so you can actually have two different videos playing for each passenger. Cheers, Calichin
  22. Hi Hado, Thanks, I would contact you but I lost ur details, and for some reason I can't PM or send messages through the forum. Can you PM or email me with your details? I will have a go, but if I get stuck I'll need help! Cheers Calichin
  23. Note the price of the cargo mat on ebay, I got that and fits perfect, and cheaper than the dealer. Pretty sure it's an original.
  24. Unit received, looking forward to an exciting weekend installing it.
  25. Hi there, I have the front sensors, but I think they are not working properly. I'll have them check soon. Since I believe they are malfunctioning, I hardly use them, and there have been very few times when I needed them. I also have side steps and nudge bar. I think they give the Kluger a better look. Good luck with your hunt - Calichin
