  1. i'd recommend finding a book called "motoring, skills and tactics" written by Peter Wherrett it is a mid 1970's book, but has very good explanations of how to apply racing techniques to the road. some useful parts that i use all the time are "double de-clutching" and "heel-toeing" when you only have 74hp you need to save time wherever you can.
  2. ok, i have already discovered from the helpfulness of this forum the main information that i needed about the car in general. but now i would like some help for more trivial questions. the ae92 i am thinking of buying is a low end 4af carby model, and has no tacho. my question is, would i be able to buy the instrument cluster from a higher model with the 4af engine and just swap them? eg: would the low end seca have the tacho plugs and wiring already behind the dash and just not used? and my other question, assuming that i could swap the instrument cluster is, would i be able to change the odo so the new cluster shows the same km's as the old? thanks.
  3. i just remembered something. when i started it, there was a rattle in the engine bay, but not from inside the engine. it sounded like the air cleaner was hitting the firewall as the engine idled? but is it possible that it could have been a broken engine mount?
  4. cool, so it sounds like a good reliable car that has a bit of power. (well, most will think it's got bugger all power, but when you come from a car with only 74hp at the fly, its got a lot :D ) i was going to modify it sometime in the future (that is, if i decide to buy it) but nothing too drastic. i was thinking of a set of whiteline control springs, new wheels, and maybe later on swaybars.
  5. little oil leak doesnt bother me. my current mazda leaks oil everywhere and pisses brake fluid out of the master cyl.
  6. well the one i have found is on it's original engine. and has done 120,000 kms, had 2 previous owners, both women. plus it is in very good cond, no rust around the boot or anything. i was very surprised with the amount of power it has for a 1.6 carby!. it was chirping second off the lights!!
  7. ok, first of all hello to all the people here. i am a newb, but have come over from www.ozmazdaclub.com to learn about toyotas. i am thinking of buying an 89 Seca with the 4af carburetted engine, and would like some info about it. i test drove it and the only problem i had was the suspension feels much softer than my mazda, and it has quite bad bodyroll, is this normal? or does it have buggered shocks. and i'd also like to just get some opinions on how well these cars will last doing a lot of freeway driving.
