  1. g'day, had swap my car drum brake into rear disc the whole afternoon. it is bolt off/bolt on affair actually and did the swap w/in 4 hrs. I leave the hand brake unattached and proceed to do the brake bleeding. the problem, the brake engages after 3-4 kicks on the brake pedal. had re do the brake bleeding and it is pretty good actually, all air is been purge. any suggestion about the problem? if the donor car is gone in the wreckers when i visit tomorrow maybe i will put back the drum brakes. i am planning to get the master cylinder and the proportioning valve if the price is w/ in budget or else i will wait for another opportunity.
  2. g'day, had gone back to the wreckers to check again and take some pictures so that i could compare the suspension/brake set-up on my AE112. i found out the ff: 1) the donor car is not ABS equipped (same w/ my ae112) by comparing the master cylinder and the tubing set-up around it are similar and also no wire connectors on the hubs. 2) measured the donor axle carrier and found out they are the same. the only thing i could not be definite about it, is the angle of the strut rod attachment on the axle carrier. but by looking at it i think they are the same. 3) not enough room to check the handbrake equalizer connection to the individual wheel handbrake cable and its attachment clips because the car belly is on the ground. but in case the cables are different maybe i would purchase an original wheel handbrake cable. i think i will go for the upgrade and will call the wrecker guys 2moro to dismantle the hub assembly. i will update this post once i finish working on it. rey t
  3. G'day, I am searching about AE112R rear disc conversion thread in this club discussion and only found a passive posting. I am itching to do this a few years back w/ my 1998 AE112R conquest hatch back but did not find the time and the resources to do it. Fortunately while browsing in one othe wreckers here in brisbane southside i found a toyota AE102 hatchback conquest rear ended w/ a disc brake. I ask the sales guy about the price and it is $75 each. Searching thru brake parts australia catalogue and bendix part number for the rear disc of the AE102 and AE112 they are the same. i am getting excited here, my question to you all toyota fanatics (like me) can i get the AE102 rear axle assembly (w/ the brake caliper, rotor disc, brake cable ets) and put it to my AE112R w/ out modification (bolt off/bolt on scenario). Meaning to say all the rear suspension rods, strut rods, rear axle carrier, brake hose, all the nuts and bolts, brake cable ets are interchangeable to each other. if there is some modification how extreme will i go. looking 4ward for your help guys. Tomorrow after work i will drop by again at the wreckers to snap some pictures. rey t
  4. g'day, i am recently running 3 195/50/15 toyo proxes4 tyres (2 front 1 right rear). on the left rear is a bridgestone g grid w/ is very annoying and noisy because it howls like mad man when you are around 80-100 kmh. the proxes 4 have great grip on wet and on cornering. steering fell is light and are very quite. by the way the bridgestone is use as a spare tyre and is new when i bought the car 2nd hand 5 years ago. it would be a waste of money if i just get rid of it and i intend to wear them out. rey t
  5. holden rodeo and the frontera are isuzu actually. isuzu motors is owned by general motors and some of there models are rebadge for export to other countries.

  8. g'day here in brisbane, MOTORAMA toyota sucks. i had a problem w/ an oil leak which i suspect at first is a leaking oil cooler hose which i bought the part from them and replace it by myself. unfortunately the leaks persist and upon thorough evaluation i suspect it was coming from the upper oil pan or from the crankshaft seal. i brought it to them and instructed them to fix that oil leak and as much as possible concentrate on the oil pan and crankshaft seal. i am ready to pay whatever cost it would take as long it would fix the problem. lo and behold when i pick it up they told me its the oil cooler hose and they drive it extensively to verify the problem. when i arrive home the oil leak is still there and called them back they will fix the problem again but i have to pay separately for that job. i told them if you look after that problem that i suspect immediately i don't have to pay additional $80 for just tightening the cooler hose and steam wash the engine and aside they just wasted my time. instead bringing it back to motorama , i bring it to SOUTHSIDE toyota at woollongaaba. the service staff listen to the problem immediately w/out any question and it is fix, no dramas. now, every time i need parts i shun away from MOTORAMA and never will i buy my next car (i bought my 1st, 2nd) to them. even my friends have a negative feedback against them w/ regards to his TARAGO but that would be another story. rey t (brisbane, qld)
  9. g'day, just want to ask you guys especially those who owned a corolla ae112 (japan built) or people w/ knowledge about this if my vehicle is obd 2 compliant. my car is getting older and i want to be in top of the situation always especially if the CEL pops up anytime. i am contemplating to buy this obd scanner in the net but wanted to make sure this would work properly. if my corolla is obd2 compliant any vendor or shop you can refer for the scanner. tanx heaps reyt32
  10. g'day, it looks nice and groovy, but it would be much better if you spray a hi temp clear top coat on the base color to make the color lustrious. mine is already in the pipeline will paint it red and had some left over of hi temp clear coat when i seal coat my exhaust manifold when i put thermal wrap around it. rey t
  11. hey guys my name is ray and owns a ae112r corolla conquest. soon i will be changing my front brake pads and while i am on the process of changing it i might as well upgrade my rotors into slotted or a cross drilled or a combination of both using DBA rotors. did anybody have any experience in using those mentioned rotors or any suggestion which is the best. i may also add that if i used this rotors ,do a OEM brake pads will work out fine on this rotors or do i have to upgrade the pads too. any brake pads brand you can suggest. last but not the least, i am also looking for a tower strut brace. i already have a quote from whiteline but i am still looking for some other suppliers. do you have any recommendation or web site that i could visit. tanx, hoping to hear from soon guys ray

  13. G'DAY, I OWN A 1998 TOYOTA COROLLA AE112R. I AM ON THE PROCESS ON CHANGING MY DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR ON THE NEXT SERVICE (110K). I AM ON A TIGHT BUDGET RIGHT NOW AND THE PRICE FOR THE ORIGINAL PARTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE. AS I BROWSE ON THE BOSCH CATALOGUE IN THERE WEBSITE, THE ONLY LISTED MODEL IS 1997 AE102X W/ THE SAME ENGINE DISPLACEMENT 1.8 L AND SAME ENGINE MODEL 7AFE AS OF THE AE112. MY QUESTION IS , IS THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP/ROTOR FOR AE102 WILL FIT IN MY AE112. YOUR HELP AND INSIGHTS ARE HIGHLY APPRECIATED. REY T
