  1. I am having a very intermittent problem with my 2012 Prius C i-tech At random, maybe once a week in a variety of weather conditions, it will start doing a number of things that go together, namely: 1 - Continues to rev for a second or two each time you take your foot off the accelerator - even after gentle acceleration 2 - Noisy (flat out) battery fan running 3 - Despite a full or near full battery car will not run on battery whilst it is playing up All the above lasts for about 5 to 10 minutes then it comes good again. I have called the dealer but they do not want to look at it UNLESS it is actually playing up when I take it in! Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
  2. Yes, but not to such a severe extent, I have the 2012 Prius C with I assume the same GPS and it announces around 1 minute after I start, after the GPS HAS BEEN WORKING that "GPS signal lost" then after around 20 seconds it works well from then on, BUT every time you start again it does the same thing, Toyota refuse to state it is a fault and made not mention of the issues you described, did you end up getting anywhere?
  3. Just traded the Presara for my new Prius C itech yesterday, just covered 100km so far and already loving it! So many details of interest on the multi display, I love the feature where you can enter the lit per 100 of your last car (in this case 10.5 for the Aurion) and then the current price of fuel and the display shows at the end of each trip what you would have spent on the Aurion and what you did spend and the total $ saving. This is a very quiet car if driven sedately. Another great feature is the speed alert linked to the GPS, so far it is very accurate in the number of speed zones I have been in!
  4. The dealer has told me my Starlet has a rear seal leak and quoted $600 to fix. Is there a way of checking the gear oil is not getting too low every few months as we don't want to fix the seal at the moment as we just had the CV's done so need to save up.
  5. Just thought I should point out to anyone reading these posts that there are in fact 2 batteries in the smart key. I got mine for $2.95 each at Jaycar on Morphett St in Adelaide
  6. In 'The Castle' like moment, whilst looking for a screwdriver to fix a headrest on backward on my son's VT Commodore after reading about it on the just commodores forum I accidentally found my original map DVD! Went and popped it in, entered the offending address that didn't work with the burnt disc and it worked instantly, noticed the response was much quicker with the orig disc as well! Problem solved, thanks to everyone who made suggestions.
  7. Thanks, that makes sense as yesterday it worked all the way to Kadina and back from Adelaide but as soon as I enter address's near the Reynella area it always plays up so the data relating to that area must be corrupt. I stupidly threw out the old DVD so will now try looking around for one. If anyone reading this wants some $ for their old DVD after they upgrade I would be happy to discuss a price as I rarely seem to need to go to new areas so just need the thing to work reliably.
  8. By the sounds of it the burnt copy is slightly corrupted, and whenever it tries to read this corrupted portion of the data it locks up. Hence why it appear to be a random error. With these dvds I would burn at the slowest speed and have it check the data afterwards. Even so there is still a chance of bad data being written but it's the risk you take by using that method to obtain maps.
  9. Hi, A mate sent me a burn copy of the 2010 DVD for the GPS and it worked fine for about 4 months but just recently it decides to either lock up or state that it cannot read the disc, you then stop and turn the motor off and on again, it resets and all is OK again. Given how it fixes with a 'reboot' I wondered if anyone else has this problem with the factory DVD or if it is just due to the burnt copy?
  10. I ended up finding a really nice 2007 Life with only 132 000km on the clock for $3000 with full log book history. The only weird thing is the sunvisors appear 'hollow' like someone has used them for drug storage or something. Has anyone else had problems with this? I will just pick up a couple at a wrecker but thought it was odd, I have attached a picture of the car.
  11. Yeah those figures virtually exactly match mine. I hit town with around 400km of country driving and ave of around 7.3lit/100 then drove the rest of the tank in the city to around 600km and still got an overall of 8.4lit/100 so was very impressed. My previous car a 2004 V6 Statesman with 150KW of power never did better than 10 lit/100 on country runs
  12. I forgot to add that even after travelling around 3 towns (Murray Bridge, Mannum and Blanchetown)and then driving back to Adelaide, after 380km the economy was 7.2/100K
  13. New country figure, just over a short distance, Stirling in Adelaide Hills to Murray Bridge (is a gradual decline downhill stretch with ups and downs) but at 100kph achieved an amazing 6lit/100
  14. Hi I am a recently converted Toyota man (previously drove mostly Holdens)and am loving my Aurion Presara so I thought I would go with Toyota again for my Daughter. I'm looking at the Starlet and want to pay around $3000 to $3500 for the base 3 door model. Are there any common problem areas that you can suggest I look for when checking out which one to buy? Thanks John
  15. After a few months with my new Presara I can now add something for purchasers to look out for. Check the drivers pillar for any slight water stain and also check the drivers side carpet if it has been raining, if there is staining on the pillar and the carpet is wet, odds on you have a disconnected plug from the sun/moon roof drain tube. This is a know problem that Toyota fixed for me free of charge (after the end of the 3 year warranty) but if you notice it just ensure you have it fixed as part of the purchase
  16. I just purchased a Presara a few months ago and compared to my previous WK Statesman I find the low beam lights brilliant, especially on dark roads, add to that their ability to turn and shine where you are turning when cornering I find that they are the best factory standard lights I have ever had! Prior to the Statesman I had a VT commodore. When I jump in my sons VP Commodore now I keep checking to see if the lights are actually on as they are so dull compared to the Presara.
  17. Doesn't it also use a combination of the lights and the ambient light sensor, same as the dash cluster? I would have thought so but I don't think it does as it was bright sunlight and it remained in night mode.
  18. I thought I had a fault yesterday with the GPS as it was stuck in night mode, it was only after a while I noticed my wife had moved the light switch from Auto to On that I realised the Presara GPS night mode is based on the lights being turned on rather than the time of day like my old Navman. Thought I would mention it in case anyone else has the same thing happen. Also, is there any way to show the car speed on the GPS in the Presara?
  19. Some really detailed and interesting responses. I live around 20km out of the city centre of Adelaide and drive around 70% of the time in 60kph zones and the rest in 80 and 100kph zones and have settled into a weekly average of around 10.5 to 10.8lit/100. I find that if each trip is over 20kms or more for most of the tank it will drop toward 10lit/100 but that is rare. Very impressive given the power of the motor, love the Aurion!
  20. Thought I would give a bit of feedback about the Toyota Link Service. The Toyota Link service is standard in the Presara and is included free for the first 3 years. Soon after purchasing my 2007 model I pressed the Toyota Link contact button located on the roof behind the rear vision mirror and was connected with the Toyota Link Call Centre. The very professional and polite operator explained the service and was able to sign me up on the spot offering me the option of paying either $20 a month or an annual fee of $240. This service features the following: Fully monitored alarm I think this is the best feature as how many people do you see responding to a car alarm in a carpark? Also, this was tested recently when I left the car at a dealer and as I got on the train around 15 minutes later I received a call on my mobile asking if I knew where my car was as someone had just disconnected the battery - Brilliant service! Vehicle monitoring when you are driving - they will tell you if your car is starting to overheat Battery monitoring - If your car is parked and they notice the battery voltage is dropping they will contact you Full roadside assistance included in the price - The great thing is that they contact the roadside assistance company and via your GPS coordinates they pinpoint your location for them (great if you are in the middle of nowhere and you can't give a street name) Internet login pagehttp://www.toyota.com.au/toyotalink where you can, and I love this bit, 'find your car' and in around a minute it will tell you where your car is and show it on a map Emergency assistance button This can be pressed after an accident when you may be a bit shaken and they look after everything for you
  21. I agree with Morequick as I noticed for my last tank I had covered 450km and the ave was around 10.2lit/100 so I expected the tank would take around 46 litres but it took 51. Will try that on my next tank, you really need to fill up at the same bowser to ensure it is as accurate as possible.
  22. I live around 20km south of Adelaide city and over the weekend have driven into the city and back twice as well as some local driving, most trips being around 20 to 30km in length. Over 120kms including around 20 stops at traffic lights I am stunned to see the ave economy at 9.3lit/100!! I do admit I was driving like Miss Daisy but it is still impressive.
  23. I paid $895 for a 3 year 75000km ext warranty at CMI Toyota at Christies Beach, Adelaide
  24. Good News!! CMI Toyota at Christies Beach accepted that the fault was part of a 'known recall issue' and repaired it for me free of charge. It took a few hours they told me as they had to remove all of the roof lining. They found what was described on this Forum, a disconnected drain plug from the Moon roof on the drivers side, they installed the special clamps on all 4 plugs put it back together and even made an attempt to dry the carpet for me. I was very impressed with the same day service and the fact that they repaired it free of charge 3 months after the factory warranty expired. I have been running my floor vents with the heat at around 28 degrees to dry off the remainder of the carpet as well. The interesting thing is that if it had not been for the Drought and lack of any significant rain in SA for the past 3 years since the car was built, this would have no doubt been picked up by the previous owner, it is just over the last 4 weeks here we have had more rain and heavier rain than we have experienced in one period for well over a decade.
  25. I picked up my 2007 Aurion Presara from the dealer 2 weeks ago during a period of sustained rain in Adelaide. Before picking it up I noticed it was wet under the drivers mat and made sure the dealer was aware of it. They same up with a story about the steamcleaning of the carpets causing it and that it would dry up once we had a few warm days. Over the last weekend we have had more heavy falls and now the carpet and underlay (I pulled it up to check) is totally saturated so I will be returning to the dealer next week to ask that it be fixed. I have noticed in other discussions in this Forum that there is a fault with the moon roof drain but I am not sure it this is the case in my instance as the drivers side pillar is not damp at all. Has anyone else with an Aurion had this problem and managed to have the dealer fix it?
