  1. deleted - just realised i'm replying to an old thread. oops.....
  2. it sounds about right to me. the consumption in terms of L/km is expected to be higher with lpg over petrol. also don't forget you now added fair bit of weight to your car (the lpg system). my 2008 altise consumes about 10L/100km on premium petrol, and about 11L/100km on regular. the main reason i did not put lpg on mine was because the guy at toyota advised strongly against it. any one having issues yet?
  3. do not even think about 4 cyl if power is important to you. fuel economy is not much different if you drive on the highway most of the time. definitely go for gen5 sportivo. altise's suspension is....how should i describe it?.....rocking like a boat if the ground is even slightly uneven!!! i have a gen 6 4cyl altise (misses's choice as she insisted the salesman lied about the fuel consumption) which has no power, and my grandson once said to me: i get a headache every time i sat in your car! (because the car literally rocked like a boat). i complained to the mechanics when it was in for a service at the dealership and they checked it and said nothing's wrong with the suspension/shockers. the altise's suspension is designed to have a much "softer" ride :( he even joked about how it's best for a certain type of activity in the car :)
  4. has it ever occurred to you that it may not be an alignment problem? i don't know a great deal about cars but i know alignment usually caused pulling to one side problem and not all over the place as you said.
  5. except the headlamps. aurion's headlamps look absolutely crap.
  6. low??? either you're very young and has only being driving a short while, or you have very short memory :) i still missed those days when it was only about 60C per litre :) anyway i'm against E10 too. i read an article in the net where a servo storage tank's service guy said it is very difficult to keep moisture out of the tank. and if the fuel is comtaminated, it'll ruin your engine for sure. apparently E10 absorb moisture readily because of the ethanol content. read some of these links: http://www.google.com/search?q=ethanol+fuel+safe&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#sclient=psy&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=BpW&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=ethanol+fuel+moisture&aq=f&aqi=g4g-o1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=6f32b8af52b7e0b8
  7. has not set their status

  8. there's no problem running v-power totally is there, other than it is more expensive? i found the car is definitely running much better than regular unleaded and getting more mileage out of it. not sure if it breaks even though since the figures go up and down depending on how much freeway or traffic jam i ran into. btw can someone tell me what's the different between ron95 and ron98? thanks.
  9. but you are not saving at all. the last time i checked the E10 was only 2c cheaper than the reg unleaded!!! how laughable. apparently ppl used E10 was because it's more environmentally friendly. what make me laugh the most is ppl talk about saving when they are still using petrol car where they should be on lpg or diesel. you save half the bill straight off.
  10. i'm not surprised eventhough i'm not a mechanics. the starter motor as it's name suggested is only for starting the car. why, did you happen to have a spare starter motor lying around is it? lol.... it's also obviously not the battery if it kicks over strongly. don't go changing the battery too lol........ instead of guessing which part is broken and replacing them in random, why don't you let the mechanics fix it for you? if you insist of trying, usually it's caused by either fuel not getting to the engine or there's no spark. so things like fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug leads or some other electrical faults.
  11. i only just switched from a berlina 98 lpg to a camry altise 08 a few weeks ago. mate, if i could turn back time i'll even pick my old berlina over the altise, let alone an 08 commodore!!! that is, if you're talking about driveability and not reliability wise. the camry 4 cyl is not only under power (load up with 4 ppl and the car won't go), it has this weird behaviour of not reacting for a couple of seconds after you put your foot down on the pedal!!! very dangerous for quick overtaking. i'm driving like an old man now, although i am actually an old man haha.... also when your not used to the car, the first time when you plant your foot down on the pedal like you would with the commy, be ready with the brake because it'll shot off like a rocket. so make sure thers's nothing in front of you the first time :) fuel comsumption? the 8.8 figure is for the manual. the salesman misled me. look carefully at their website and you'll find the official figure for auto is 9.9. apparently the commy is only one litre more, insignificant in my view. in real life the last 3 refills put my altise about right at around 9.9 but i do almost 50-50 freeway and suburban roads, not city. the worst thing about the altise? the car's suspension must be sh**t. on rough roads it rocks around like you're riding a horse (described by someone at the toyota nation forum). bottomline is, the camry is a small car in a big body, pretending to be a big car. the good points? hope it's as reliable as what ppl said about camry (main reason i got a camry as the commy repairs were driving my missus nut),and it does look good to me (a personal taste i guess). why don't you get an aurion? only about 1-2k more than the camry and has more power than a commy. consumption is not much different from the camry as it's not under power. i didn't get to buy an aurion only because my wife refused to believe that :( i dare say, coming from a commy, you'll regret getting the camry. go for an aurion mate, seriously.
  12. 30psi is for 70 years old, or very slow drivers. for younger slow driver 32-33psi. if you're agressive and rectless 34-35psi :) for me even at 32psi i found the tyre still roll when making a slightly agressive turn. i use 33psi.
  13. Try 37psi front and 35psi back. hi everyone, new here and just bought a camry altise 2008 model but haven't picked it up yet till next week. hey hamster, is that a genuine answer? i don't have the user manual yet to see what it's recommended, but even with my current ride, a commodore, i used 32 or 33 psi. heard of a friend using 35psi though with his commodore.
