  1. Michelin Energy XM2 ? My original 2010 XM2 tyres liked to squeal on turns, when they got a bit low. Even with 4-5 mm left on the thread. They lasted a fair while, but were quite hard.
  2. Yep, my 2010 Touring had a matching 5th.
  3. Also check the steering intermediate shaft. Although I felt mine, before I heard it.
  4. If you go for the golden one, make your buy dependent on the results of the roadworthy. The most you can loose is the cost for the roadworthy, if there's too much trouble to fix things.
  5. Some news about the planned infotainment system: (this info presently only for USA builds, starting with the new 2018 Camry for late northern summer deliveries. No mention about AUS yet). https://www.automotivelinux.org/announcements/2017/05/30/automotive-grade-linux-platform-debuts-on-the-2018-toyota-camry /Quote: Toyota has adopted the AGL platform for Toyota’s next-generation infotainment system. The 2018 Toyota Camry will be the first Toyota vehicle on the market with the AGL-based system in the United States. /unquote. AGL (Automotive Grade Linux) features include a dashboard, support for Google Maps, climate control (A/C), media player, news reader, smart phone integration etc. Manufacturers can expand the AGL platform to their own specifications. Most of the future Toyota and Lexus models will be delivered with this system. Participants in the AGL consortium are Hyundai, Jaguar/Landrover, Toyota, Mercedes and others.
  6. Thanks again for your feedback. Cheers
  7. A tyre shop might give you a good idea. Take the pics along. If you're buying some online and trying to work out postage cost, you could email the seller for that info.
  8. Yep, I'm on 215/55/R17 , which came with the Touring SE model. Yes, most definitely. Plus you have a wider tyre and higher pressure will help to compensate for that and lighten your steering. I'm always eager to read, what other drivers are using. This forum can be quite helpful. Cheers.
  9. Yes, that was badly worded on my behalf. What I really meant, was, that the new V6 will probably be $10,000 dearer than the current equivalent model Aurion. Maybe like the extras the Touring SE presented in the past.
  10. Do you have very soft tyres? 42 front would see me bubble off sideways on uneven surfaces (in roundabouts or corners), would also slip on acceleration in the wet on T-junctions. I guess it depends a great deal on the tyres. I usually go cornering in some rough large roundabouts and adjust my tyre pressure to the point, where I don't skid (bubble) off anymore. I'm very picky on my pressure, 1 PSI makes all the difference for me. Got my own compressor and gear at home etc. Now on Primacy 3ST (4.5 - 4.8 mm thread left ) I use 36 front and 37 rear (not loaded). Previously on Energy XM I used 32 - 33.
  11. I quite like the looks, side and rear. Could do with a different beak though, but might look ok in charcoal or silver. I hope, the anti-collision system can be switched off (permanently, not everytime new on start up). That would be a deal breaker for me. Yes, will have a test drive and check out the seats for sure. Current model Aurions will probably go for $10,000.00 cheaper, depending how many they've got left at the end of the year. But it's something to look forward to :)
  12. Hahaha, yes, that's why I never persisted with it. Typing in manually seems to be the only other way. Actually I just got interested and tried to transfer my contacts to see whether it works, but got the same results as you have. On the final step it just sits there, "transferring contacts, please operate your phone" Operate how ? So when I switch bluetooth OFF/ON, it won't connect again, just like yours. Anyway, the voice command is much easier, only one button to press. Cheers. Btw, while we're talking iPhone bluetooth connectivity: If you don't get a message alert, but only incoming ring tones on calls, you can divert message tones to your iPhone, but leave calls on car bluetooth. Here's how: When connected to bluetooth, swipe up into control centre, select your BT device and then tick iPhone. The only drawback: It doesn't stick, when you leave the car or switch it off and loose your BT. So you'd have to do that before every trip. Anyway, just a thought.
  13. Legally you can touch the home button, if your iPhone is in a cradle, secure at the dash or windscreen. I'm using a vent-clip for mine. (Similar to this:) http://www.apple.com/au/shop/product/HH0J2ZM/B/belkin-car-vent-mount-for-iphone As for transferring the contacts: Have you tried manually with bluetooth off temporarily? New stereo: I have no idea, you'd have to search the topics, or maybe someone else can answer this question. Good luck !
  14. Hey, welcome to the club :) As per iPhone and calls: I just keep the home button on the iPhone depressed until it vibrates and the "voice control" shows. Then I speak : "call Mary mobile" and bluetooth will do the rest. So, there's no need to transfer contacts, you can do it all with voice commands. You can also say "ring Janice" or whatever your contact is listed as. At the end of the call, you can press the red stop button on the dash.
  15. It would be good to know, what you understand by "comfortable ride". Do you mean, you'd want a softer ride, or a more "performance-like" comfort in curves? If you want a softer ride, then stick with the 16" higher wall tyres and play with the air pressure. I personally think, the pre-2012 Aurions are soft and rolly enough. The 17" wheels with 215/55/R17 size tyres seem to be a good match to make the Aurion roll a little less and stick to the road better than the stock 16" wheels, because the sidewalls are not as high.. You'll find, with new tyres you might have to develop a feel for the right air pressure first, try it out in a few large roundabouts or just doing U-turns with different air pressures. My favourite tyres: Michelins.
  16. Thanks, Tony, great post with lots of info !
  17. I should've updated this moons ago, in case someone is looking at something similar: I was able to free the sticky valve by just altering the temperature settings a multiple number of times, making the valve re-position itself more often. Background: I always drive with A/C ON. I used it for years on the same setting: 23 degrees, summer and winter alike. It worked well for me, up until the problem started. My solution: I started to manually adjust the dials to higher and lower values. It took some time, but freed it up eventually. So maybe it's a good thing to do this more often from early on. Cheers
  18. Hey, thanks for your comprehensive report and the pictures ! You can't go wrong with those tyres. Always happy to hear more, once you've done some more kms. Cheers.
  19. Hi all, So I'm after a new 2016 LC200 GXL petrol and have a few short questions to those "in the know": 1. What's the percentage ratio between Diesels and Petrols sold in .au ? As there seem many more Diesels sold (I weas told, about 95%), would there be any new Petrols stored in the country, or is it more like "order and wait" ? 2. Has anyone found any info on rumours of when the next model will be coming ? (It'll be 10 years next year for the current model). Some links would be great. 3. What would be a good driveaway price, if I ordered within the next couple of months? Thanks for any insight !
  20. I honestly can't remember. I bought mine early 2014. There was a special on at the time ($100.00 cash back). The 3 STs are wearing very well, similar to the Energy ones, but are much quieter and lack the squeal on U-Turns and roundabouts, which I got from the Energy ones. (Wheel alignment always ok). I really like the 3 STs. These 4 for 3 or $100.00 cash back specials turn up frequently. Just shop around. Cheers
  21. I went with the Michelin Primacy 3 ST. I'm very happy with them. They're quieter than the Energy ones. Can recommend. I find, that I use a bit more pressure in these now than I used to in the Energy ones to get the same ride. Look here for some simple comparison: http://www.tyreplus.com.au/products/car-tyres/?q=All Cheers
  22. Thanks for your reply ! Switching A/C off with the button while driving makes no difference. When I turn the dials, I can actually hear the cogs of the flaps turning, but it won't do any good either. When the fault condition is present, only stopping the engine, and restarting helps. If it was the clutch, would it not (sometimes) come good with the electrical on/off button ? I'll look into this a bit more tomorrow though (listening to the clutch). Cheers
  23. Hi all, I get the occasional aircon problem, where I can't adjust my temperatures. I can feel mixed cold and warmish air come out of the vents. Most of the time, switching off the engine and restarting it will fix it, and I get cold air again. The mechanic reckons, it's a sticky valve in the a/c compressor. Has anyone had any experience with this problem ? Would it indeed need a new compressor to fix this ? Happy for any help, thanks (Aurion 2010 Touring)
  24. Have a look at this post (and the one after): http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/29104-water-leak-in-boot/?p=453791 Maybe it's worth to read the whole thread as well. Hopefully it'll give you some pointers. Cheers mate, mine is bone dry now, hope you can get it fixed. (I used silicon).
