  1. Yep, it is the foglight surround, which is 1 panel, relatively small dent, but visible because my car is black and the curb turned it white. Wow thats quite expensive, $200 just for the panel. My car's getting recall work done (rear lights) on Wednesday, so I may get a quote off them, just thought I'd get an indication of rough prices here first before I asked.
  2. Just been having massive rains lately in Sydney, heavy rains one morning on the way to work, I bumped a curb slightly in an awkward turn in Mosman (f*kn attrocious roads). Upon inspection there's a 7cm diameter dent on the panel which encapsulates the fog lights. The panel above (wheel arch) popped out slightly but I managed to push the clips back in. I couldn't find anything on Search, but has this happened to anyone else? Could anyone give a clue as to how much it would cost to replace that plastic panel? Would $300 suffice?
  3. If the car is less then 3 years old it should still have "Bumper to Bumper, New Car Warranty" (even if you bought it second hand) I dont think those rear vents are cheap im guessing between $70-$100. On the other hand, if everything goes well you should be able to get the vents and Seat issues fixed for free :) Let us know how you go..... wow $100 for a piece of plastic lol, if it comes to that think I'll just buy the $5 part and fit it myself =S Ye the vehicle is only 11 months old atm, will keep you guys updated :]
  4. LOL I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. After a few months of happy driving, my Aurion has a really annoying squeak on the left side of the drivers seat. Every bump, hump, turn and it'll go off, pretty much even wen I move a bit in my seat. So annoying, going to take it to Toyota to have a look.
  5. Yeh hopefully man, even if not, wouldn't cost much to replace. I bought the car 2nd hand, had it for a few months now, some small issues arising so going to my local dealership to see if they're willing to help with warranty issues, and I'd get my capped servicing with them in future if they're helpful. Just lately, I've had a really annoying creak from the left side of the drivers seat. Really annoying as any bump or turn will set it off like a creaking door, not sure if its the rails underneath the seat or the seat springs, gonna have Toyota have a look at that too.
  6. lol thnx! I feel brain dead after all the pre-exam cramming.
  7. Hey guys, I was wondering what the plastic splitter things you use to control the direction of air-flow are called? One of the knobs which controls the horizontal direction of air flow has fallen off and I'm going to see if Toyota will replace it under warranty. Here's an image to clarify:
  8. I spent most of my time on Carsales when searching for a 2nd hand vehicle to purchase and I found it considerably better than newspaper options and superior to most other sites so I would advocate advertising on Carsales. The layout is more user friendly, with photos and car specs as well as seller comments and easy access to seller details. If you price your vehicle competitively, it will sell very fast!
  9. This has nothing to do with John Brumby. It's the local councils who are responsible for road maintenance. That's not entirely true. It would depend on the road hierarchy, whether it's an arterial, sub-arterial, collector or local road. However in this case, I think it most probable that it wasn't a state road.
  10. Base model, new IS350 is $64k. With 233kW and 378Nm of torque it's like an Aurion with direct injection and rear wheel drive *drool*, almost as powerful on paper as the Aurion TRD, but apparently faster from what journalists are saying.
  11. Are you talking about the Toyota Camry (XV20)? Isn't that the 4th gen Camry as the 5th gen wasn't out until 2001/
  12. hmm I learnt to drive on my mum's 5th gen Camry V6 and drove it for half a year on my red P's before I got my own car. I've always found it to be like a rock, acceleration was really slow, and you had to use some force on the gas pedal for it to move with any urgency, I don't see how you can hoon around in it lol, despite being V6 (unless extensive mods were made). My current Aurion SX6 on the other hand goes much faster from a standstill haha, the gas pedal is so much softer compared to the gen 5 Camry and wants to be floored. Even though the Aurion has a lot of power at hand, I try to drive as responsibly as possible as I'm still on my red P's and my work necessitates me having my own transport, as well as setting a good example for younger siblings soon to get their licence. I do understand the concern to try and minimise the chances for your brother to hoon around, you would know your brother better than your parents lol and I think you have nothing to worry about with the V6 Camry, its really too big/heavy and not powerful enough to do considerable damage.
  13. Wouldn't the pillar coming off impede the proper working of it in an emergency? Definitely don't take no for an answer, unless they can confidently say that it's "meant to be like this" (which it isn't) then they should fix it as it's still under warranty.
  14. Lexus IS350! If only my Aurion could do 0-100km/hr in 5.6s!
  15. Terrible service. Such a blatant money grab. I remember when I was signing up with Virgin too, they offered a $50 discount from my bills if I signed up over the phone, so I did. Then there was no $50 discounted from my bills and I had to chase it up over a week before they "checked their servers" and there was a bookmark saying that my contract did specify a $50 deduction and they "didn't know why" it wasn't put in place. These methods of doing business is just atrocious, preying on those who have a busy schedule and don't browse every tiny detail of their bills under a microscope just so they can get away with extra charges and not fulfilling their obligations. I agree with you Kenshin that the time spent just isn't worth it for $100 or so, but there must be a line that is drawn. I'm definitely looking elsewhere once my Virgin contract is finished.
  16. holy sh!t $380 for excess usage, that's insane, half the cost of my phone right there lol. I guess one way to check if there was anything substantial downloaded would be to check your phones hard drive and how much is used as 500mgb is substantial. I check my usage as often as I can so I don't have any surprises when the next bill comes, but this is pretty dodgy of Virgin to do this. I wouldn't pay it imo
  17. I've found through receipt calculations that the fuel consumption readout on the speedo is optimistic to the range of 0.4-0.6litres/100km. So the "actual" consumption would be closer to whatever number your read +0.6ltrs/100km.
  18. dw I wouldn't worry about it. based on his goofy reply I'd say he prolly forgot all about it after a few dozen beers after work. maybe deep down, he is a closet Corolla fan and he fancied your car so took a few snaps but was too embarrassed to admit the 'real' truth to you when you asked him haha
  19. I got flashed once going downhill, and I WAS speeding but I didn't receive any mail. rejected :(
  20. Driving around with the weight of half a tank of fuel (35L) doesn't really affect fuel consumption noticeably. Based on these calculations: Density = Mass/Volume where the density of petrol is given to be 737.22 kg/m^3 where 1m^3 = 1000L therefore 1L = 1/1000 m^3 737.22(kg/m^3)= Mass(kg)/Volume(m^3) 737.22(kg/m^3) * Volume(m^3)= Mass(kg) 737.22 * (1/1000 m^3)= Mass(kg) therefore 0.737kg = Mass hence 1L of petrol = 0.737kg 35L of petrol = 25.795kg That 35L is easily offset by any passenger over the age of 6 yrs old. Long story short, fill up on cheapest day regardless of how full your petrol tank is =P
  21. doesn't that mean 'i love you' in chinese(mandarin)?! only sentence of Chinese I know lol, used to keep saying it to my friend's gf to p1ss him off hahaha
  22. It's inevitable that aspects of quality control would be degraded by Toyota's push in recent years to be the largest manufacturer globally, and even Akio Toyoda has admitted this. Quality is directly proportional to quantity, albeit some manufacturers more than others. On a side note, saw your car @ Kingswood a few days ago AUR3ON, going down Great Western Highway. I saw you as I was turning @ the lights from uni in the black facelift Aurion Sportivo, not sure if you saw me.
  23. are you using those 2 cars as examples? or considering buying them? cuz one is in WA and the other in NSW lol. the Lexus is definitely more luxury imo, do you plan to go to the track in any of these vehicles? if not then I think the IS250 would suit daily life better, especially if you have more than 1 friend.
