  1. Make sure you report the theft to the RTA or police in case they use your plates in an armed robbery, servo drive off or some other crime. Contrary to popular belief, at least for custom plates, the RTA is able to issue you with the same plate again. This just means though that you might get hassled by the cops in future because they think you were the one that stole the plate!
  2. The biggest criticism in the review seems to be that the Corolla has weak in-gear and high speed acceleration / overtaking. Has anyone had the chance to drive something like the Honda Civic or Mazda3 to compare in this respect? I'm guessing the old 1.8 Corolla will struggle a bit given that's it's 200cc down on most of its competitors and even more so if it's got the outdated 4 speed auto.
  3. There is a product by the makers of Rain X that is meant to assist in keeping the inside of the windscreen mist and fog free. A few friends have used the product and swear by it!
  4. http://motorv8.me/index.php/car-reviews/corolla-zre I agree with some of the criticisms they make of the Corolla, but overall, it was a pretty negative review. Is the Corolla really that boring to drive? What do you guys think?
  5. On a Camry, removing the cat will give you half of SFA noticeable power gain. If it's for the track, you'll notice any of better pads, tyres, suspension etc than decatting. It almost goes without saying that if the EPA catches you, they'll bend you over a barrel.
  6. In theory, a litre of premium unleaded should go further than regular unleadeded. The other upsides are a smoother power delivery, maybe a smidgen more power and cleaner injectors (due to the additional detergents in PULP). Most modern cars have knock sensors that can adjust to the quality of the fuel. In a "standard" car like yours, there won't be a huge hike in power, but it should feel nicer to drive.
  7. Really mickwheelz? Is a Corolla Conquest that much faster than the 318i? Wikipedia has the 318i at 9.2 seconds for the 0-100 dash. The Corolla seems quite a bit slower: Where the Corolla auto's flavour is awash with streaks of indifference, the stick-shift 'box enables the driver to kindle the car's spark of life, and even extract a modicum of zest. Next to the automatic's claim to accelerate 0-100 km/h in 11.1 seconds, the manual's 9.7-second journey seems positively exuberant. http://www.carsales.com.au/reviews/2010/small-passenger/toyota/corolla/toyota-corolla-conquest-and-levin-zr-19056 Besides, if people are considering cars like the Corolla Conquest or 318, I don't think straight line speed is the main aim ;) Then there's also the matter of driving through corners ...
  8. Whether you go full comp or not, at a very minimum, you will want third party property damage insurance. It's one thing to write off your own rolla. It's another to write off a Merc and have to pay for it out of your own pocket!
  9. Depends what you want from your car. If it's cheap and cheerful, no frills motoring, the Corolla will do the job. If it's luxury, refinement, badge cred and a RWD driving experience that do it for you, the BMW more suited. Do you prioritise badge value, running costs, image, driving experience? Answer that and you'll know what car is suited to you.
