  1. Hey man sorry to hear about your car. That guy just driving off is a real *****!!! Lost my first sportivo to a crap driver ( check my garage for the body kit.) If the you give the insurance company your police report number and the police can track down the other person generally you don't need to pay your your insurance company. Good to hear your ok. Oh and to compound bad luck about one mouth after getting my new sportivo a volvo drive rear ended my car took three weeks to fix. Hang in there man, bad things even happen to good people. hope your luck improves.
  2. on the topic of strut bars, has anyone with a facelifted model got a front TRD one? i'm looking to buy but bruce says his checking with TRD to make sure they fit I've got a face lifted sportivo Aug 2005 got TRD Strut brace from bruce fits fine.
  3. just for the record, it fir no probs, just got to cut down the black foam block. thanks for all the help along the way.
  4. Just adding my 2c I've got 215 45 R17 C Drive Tyres (See My Gallery) Look ok and are just slightly bigger than standard 16 with 195 55. The difference at the speedo is probally less than the error in the speedeo to begin with. Eg 215 45 R17 Diameter 24.62 inches 195 55 R16 Diameter 24.44 inches Standard 205 40 R17 Diameter 23.46 inches 215 40 R17 Diameter 23.77 inches found a good site for calculations http://www.wallaceracing.com/tire-aspect-calc.php
  5. here's a pic of the black foam block that goes over the spare wheel. I have a full size 17x7 and because it a inch taller (or wider depending on the way you look at it) than the 16 x6 you get standard, the block doen't fit under the cover. See Second pic with cover down poking up. How much should you cut off the foam block.
  6. This is a pic of how the rear wheel sits on the ground
  7. Finally got my new sportivo after that stupid merc driver killed my last one. I've put 17x7 on it this time with C Drive 215 45 R17. Good news is it fits in the spare tire well, but bad news. The back tires don't sit flat on the ground. The tops seem to be angled inward. Took it back to the dealer for 1000 km service and they said to take it to a tire shop to get fixed. Can this be adj on a sportivo? Also has anyone cut down the foam block after getting 17x7. How Much do you need to cut off? Did you cut the top or the bottom? Thanks in advance. Please check out my gallery, and if you need a pic to work out whats happening please let me know!!
  8. Had a 1999 corolla conquest. i think this was the botton of the range (no abs. driver srs air bag), and asent was around until later models. Does Corolla have ways of minimising risk of leaving headlights on/locking keys in car eg buzzer sound for headlights and forcing you to lock driver's door with key? There is a buzzer if you leave the headlights on. Nothing for keys in, but if you have the key and central locking button on same key ring and lock the car by the central locking you should have no problem. On a funny note. if you unlock the boot (or the hatch in my car) by the key don't put the keys in the boot or when you close it they will be locked in as the door locks will still be locked. Any other hints tips about purchasing eg problems to look out for etc. Car was great. loved it until traded for 2004 sportivo. check out my gallery to see what heppen to that one. My girlfriend walked away with just bursing from that crash. That was i've now go a 2005 model. hehe Good luck hope that helped.
  9. Yeah, this same thing happen in my 2004 sportivo and my new 2005 sportivo that i picked up a week ago. i found that you need to unbuckle the belt to make it give the belt back.
  10. Crash happened on cross road. Sportivo going straight thru intersection. Green Light driving 50 km (SA speed limit). Merc Coming from other direction, wanting to turn right. Didn't give way and crashed into front drivers side fender and tried to drive across front of sportivo. Car will be auction by RAA (Adelaide SA) not sure where it's going.
  11. My Girlfiend that was driving, is ok but rattled, has some bad seat beat bursing and a rub on her nose from air bag. Bit stiff so glad nothing worse happened. Just shows how good corolla saftey is. Person driving other car had broken ribs and is ok now too. Found out today that car is a total loss. Still waiting on insurance to payout. Have to get quotes on new car.
  12. Sorry in advance if this has been discussed. My 2004 sportivo got wrecked on friday night and i'm getting a new one. looking to put 17 x 7 rims with 215 45 r17 on and get five of them. Question is will this fit in the spare tyre well in the boot of the 2005 sportivo?? Only had the stock rims on my last car and have never come across this! Thanks for any help! PS stay tuned for pic of crash ;)
  13. I've just changed who i service with (northpoint toyota SA to CMI Toyota City SA) Northpoint have always put on 90915-yzze1 but CMI explained that this was for standard corolla engines not the sportivo that share the same engine with the celica. The sportivo engine requires 90915-yzze2. When i started my car before my 20,000 service at CMI the oil light use to stay on for about 30sec to 1 min, now it flicks on and off in under 5 secs. Don't know it it related but you never know??
  14. Hi Organ, I Think i might be the red sportivo that you've seen in the eastern subs. Was at Hoyts at TTP and saw a red sportivo Monday 28th of June, was that you? I drive a 04 red stock sportivo. See ya around.
  15. I've just purchased a new corolla sportivo. Don't really like the looks of the tyres and would like to get a new set. I'm finding it hard to find tyres to fit 195 55 R16!! Can I put any other size on the stock rims, or should I be looking for new tyres and wheels. If so are there any suggestion as to what sizes will fit under the guards?
  16. I drive a Red Sportivo, Adelaide (Klemzig) SA. Have seen another Red one on Hackney Road about four times. Are there any other in SA?
