  1. Try LCOOL forum there has been some discussion on this. Cheers
  2. Shane try the LCOOL forum if you don't get any response here. Good forum for 200 series owners. Cheers
  3. Scott, did it work? Assuming it did from your post but would like to know for sure. Thanks
  4. Can't answer your question but have you tried posting it on the LCOOL forum?
  5. Firstly for you Tubby, Our thoughts and support are with you in FNQ and hope the insurances all come through for you mate. On the other issue, Geoff you are going for what I went with 25mm lift at the front with heavy duty no lift 200kg rears and Nitro sports. The guys at ARB did a swap for me on the rear 400kg springs down to the 200. The ride is firmer but suits me fine nowhere near what the 400 were like and you almost needed a step ladder for the wife to get into it. the usual compromise and the ARB guys said they have a "lot" of people who tow vans keep the 400s and swap to them when towing and revert to the 200s when not. He said about $60 I think to change them out each time. at that rate I think I would buy a spring compressor and do it myself but I have found with towing our van the 200s are fine so far and if I need more then I would add polyairs in the rear springs too. Cheers Jeff
  6. G'day Tubby, just been following the conversation with the other bloke who spells his name funny . Geoff and I have had a couple of conversations and I have a similar set up to him, Evernew van 22'6" semi off road and ARB springs and OME sport shocks. One thing I did do to start with, on ARB's advice, was have 400kg springs on the rear but I found this to be very uncomfortable with little or no load and sat the back up too high, so, went to 200kgs no lift and this is much better. If I need a bit more I will fit polyairs to the rear springs, but I know ARB don't endorse them and prefer to use a higher capacity spring, which is fine if you have the van on the back all the time but crap (my opinion) without. I have found the 200kg a good compromise for me and the boss. I would agree with everything that Geoff (still find it hard to spell his name) has suggested in his above posts. Cheers mate and good hunting, haggle hard at ARB or anywhere else you go. The REAL Jeff
  7. Geoff it is "Unexplained loss of power" started by me also Legendts on LCOOL. I'll check out the workshop manuals one not sure if I have read it. Cheers Jeff
  8. Forgot to mention the second time it happened I never lost power, but all the flashing lights etc came up and stayed on for three days, then cancelled themselves????? Again no history. So much for the theory of the ECU being able to recall them and it seems that if any faults sort themselves out the histoy is deleted. Cheers
  9. I also tow a 3+ tonne van and average (by fills) 19l/100ks. Much depends on head/cross winds, terrain etc, and of course the right foot :D. Cheers
  10. Gent's, I think Chadstone Toyota were doing a deal on ($1400 rings a bell but might be wrong) this and was covered on LCOOL. With some of the issues still ongoing and one injector costing around $1200 MAYBE it is worth looking at. Do a search on LCOOL to see the relevant thread for further discussions on it. Cheers
  11. Thanks for the offer Geoff but I have the codes thanks to I think, Bernie on LCOOL. Yes I will probably get a scangauge before we go to WA later in the year. The only downside is by clearing the codes it seems the ECU memory for those fault codes is deleted (that's what Shepparton Toyota did) so no fault history. The other thing I found out is that if you wait about 45 minutes you can start the car again but not sure if it goes into limp mode or returns to normal, anyway you probabaly read that thread on LCOOL too. I really hate not knowing if and when it might happen again. It really shook my wife up the first time (she wasn't in the car the second time) due to the potentially dangerous situation we were in with the rear of the van stuck out in the highway traffic with B doubles barely missing us, pouring rain and lousy visibility was not helping either, luckily we had electrics so the hazard flashers worked. Cheers and thanks again for your input. Jeff
  12. G'day Geoff, Dec 2009 compliance, MY10 update version. I have posted a bit on LCOOL re the issues too. I think all told there are 5 of us on LCOOL that have had the same issue, most more than once. It is chipped and I sometimes wonder if that may be an issue but, the first time it happened the chip had been on for over three weeks and 4,000ks of towing my van. The second time was after I had changed the tune (I can also turn the chip off via a switch on the dash) and after approximately 100ks of driving (no van on) so who knows. Toyota have the only realistic option to tow our van other than the F250 Super Duty at 150k which is only for the very well heeled, not me at the moment but their attitude to people like us who help to keep them in business is nothing short of insolence, got your money so bugger off! This is my fourth Landcruiser and second Sahara and so far this is the only one that has had any reliability problems. Toyota Austtralia have been advised of both issues, the first time I had a response saying it could be anything, including accessories or any other components or wiring in the car. I had the same accessories on my previous cruisers with no issues so why this one? Very frustrating Geoff. Hope you see no issues with yours. Cheers Jeff
  13. I also have had this happen, plus a complete loss of engine power (shutdown) whilst towing my 3+ tonne van in rain and two B doubles up my bum. Luckily never got hit by anything but it could have been catastophic if they had as the rear of the van was sticking out on the road. Towed into the Toyo dealer at Shepparton who cleared the codes but never downloaded any data before they did. I asked what happened...."dunno if it happens again bring it back"......great! Has happened once since but this time never lost power and reset itself around three days later. We're heading up the middle and down the WA coast in June so we will see if it happens again. Lost some confidence in the vehicle and want that confidence back. Great tow vehicle but don't like the idea of it losing power in the middle of nowhere so will probably be buying a scan gauge as a security blanket for the trip. Cheers Jeff
  14. would strongly suggest to all LC200 owners that they change the intake location to somewhere that clean air can be obtained. Rgds, Ken Yes Ken like a snorkel mate Jeff.
  15. Nielsen are currently doing a survey for Toyota but it can only be done online. Not sure how many are getting it but I certainly pulled no punches with it. I have also changed to 15W-40 Conoco Guardol (Bruce Anderson)and so far have not seen any oil usage but was told by my dealer to use 10W-40. Need to use the vehicle more often than I am at the moment to see how it goes longer term and towing.
  16. Legendts

    fuel filter

Luddy, I don't think you can run a second fuel filter as it can (as I understand it) cause the injector pump to starve and this would be an expensive exercise. This issue was covered on the LCOOL forum. Check them out and do a search. Hope this helps.
  17. I have a MY2010 Sahara purchased Dec 2009 and have had a few issues, mostly minor. The one issue I did have that was VERY serious was losing power whilst towing our 3.2t van in very wet and windy weather (returning from a 7500k holiday to Qld) with two B doubles up our backside. Our saving grace was a left turn lane as it lost power. Was unable to restart the vehicle and RACV called out who got us to Shepparton Toyota (8ks). They reset the fault codes without downloading the data so it was all lost and Toyota have been unable to find any cause. Shepparton Toyota guy said after he reset the codes to "see how it goes and if it happens again bring it back" great advice when he did not know what caused it in the first place and you live a days drive away. One thing I have found out since is that if you wait around 40 minutes with fault codes up you can restart it and drive at reduced power (believe it to be equivalent to 100 series) to get you to a garage. Another option is to remove both Neg and Pos battery leads and touch both Neg leads (two batteries)together and both Pos together and this clears all codes to allow normal operation. Should the fault be such that it will do terminal damage to the motor then they will return to prevent you from driving the vehicle. This was done by a guy caught out on Fraser Island and it works. The advice was given from a mechanic. More can be read on the LCOOL Forum site. My vehicle has only 12500ks on the clock and when I purchased it, it was to be my retirement present but it has left a sour taste in my mouth. The vehicle is an excellent tow vehicle for my rig but it will need to be reliable. If there was an option I would change it but only for peace of mind. Can only agree with the above that my previous 100 series Sahara never used a drop of oil and never missed a beat in 155,000ks. This is my fourth Landcruiser and second Sahara so I was expecting the same from my 200 series. Why is Toyota ignoring these issues and treating it's customers with what can only be called contempt. Another dissapointed owner.
