  1. Contacted Frankston Toyota to enquire about having the problem checked out and apparently there is an outstanding service recall on the car since 2007. They will replace a swithc that is likely to be the cause free of charge. If that doesn't fix it they will try and find the problem and fix it at my cost.
  2. Both headlights are out of action on our Rav4. I've changed the bulbs and fuses and no change. The right full beam works when the stalk is pulled forwards but nothing works (including the main beam indicator on the dash) when the stalk is pushed back. Could it be a problem with the stalk itself?
  3. it's the original battery, car was registered in december 2007. there has been a bit of acid dust building up, particularly around the negative terminal. i've stripped it all down and cleaned up the terminals, had no problems since then. if anything like this happens again i'll be replacing the battery straight away.
  4. used the key to get in and got a booster battery connected. jumpstarted no problem and drove for a half hour, it's holding charge now. no idea what caused the battery to drain completely but we'll keep an eye on it, and some jumpleads in the boot. thanks again.
  5. if it was my partner I'd be asking the same question, but yes, it is definitely my car. i'll go back and use the key and see if I can get in. we'll bring jump leads too in case it's the battery. thanks for the comments, it's really appreciated.
  6. My understanding is that the keyfob disabled the alarm and unlocked the doors, the key merely opened the doors and would not disable the alarm.
  7. Parked up my 2007 AT-X in the city this morning and spent 8 hours at a meeting. Got back and the beeper wouldn't open the doors, no sign of flashing or beeping as normal. The red security light on the dash is still flashing. Thought it might be the beeper battery so my other half drove up and we tried hers, no luck. Must be a problem with the car. I didn't open the door with the key to avoid setting off the alarm. What do I need to do to get into the car? Can I open it with the key then switch off the alarm somehow? Car is still in the multi-storey carpark for the night. Had the car since October, no problems with it at all. The battery has been fine and starts first time every time. Thanks for any help.
  8. thanks, it's definitely a cruiser, very smooth on the highway, plenty of power when needed. i'll be doing about 500km a week commuting, probably 30,000km a year overall including road trips and weekend travel. fuel consumption is pretty low so far, getting 600-650km per tank, somewhere around 11l/100km.
  9. Into my third week with the Aurion, loving every minute of it. Already clocked up a thousand kms commuting into the city and touring around the Mornington Peninsula. Really smooth in traffic and goes like stink when you need it to. Love the 6-speed box, there's a gear for every occasion. Already looking at mags, foglights and some other accessories.
  10. Correction, picking up first Aurion on Saturday instead. Waiting around for banks and dealerships to communicate correctly. Still excited though. Thanks for the welcome :)
  11. Greetings. Picking up my first Aurion tomorrow after years of Jap ownership including a Micra, Corolla, Spacewagon, Pajero, Lancer and now the Aurion. Had a look around at Falcons, Commodores, 380s, and the Aurion was top of the bill for looks, safety, power, price and fuel economy. It's a Wildfire Red stock model AT-X, ex-fleet and just out of warranty. Extending the warranty to 160,000km. Looking forward to a few years of v6 motoring in Melbourne.
