  1. thanks Dan. im still trying to get to the bottom of this. the bags themselves dont appear to be an issue- not leaking and work fine with the height adjustment. still trying to get to the bottom of it. thanks for the link. just need to work out how to tell the ECU that the bags are disconnected i guess?
  2. nope. took it to pedders and they can hear it and reckon itll cost me $2k per strut to replace them. but ive found some that are $1200 each..but thats genuine. was planning to get them to take it out and see exactly what is causing the noise. ive got a few mates whoa re into cars much more than i am and they reckon its almost not noticeable, but im a bit of a stickler and it annoys me. coilovers are a cheaper option but if its somehting like a dry bush and it can be replaced without having to buy the whole assembly then ill probably do that.
  3. hi all, it seems i have issues with my airbags. wondering what options i have to replace them?. i bought the car just over a year ago and have been chasing the problem for months..it definitely had the issue at purchase but the dealer isnt going to admit to it..sigh.. can i replace the strut(s) themselves? or do i need the full assembly including the bags?, are there aftermarket non genuine options? (genuine seems to be about $2k per assembly)..
  4. Hi All, i have a URS206 and this front end noise is driving me nuts. i heard it on the test drive about 8 months ago and foolishly ignored it. the dealer was dodging any responsibility so i didnt pursue them. ive had 4 mechanics look at it and they cant see or find any wear. they did spot split bushes and replaced them though. but the noise persists. its a metallic noise like something is worn- has some play in it and it occurs when driving slowly over sharp bumps. its not a rattle but a single clunk. at speed its either not evident, or only barely. i can hear it on the left side mostly, but also to a lesser extent on the right side. And the noise seems worse when the car is slightly accelerating. So im thinking that its load related as when there is no load, the noise is loudest. Even when i have a passenger in the left hand seat, the noise is less. Because it occurs at slow speed im inclined to think that the issue is related to a vertical motion rather than a vector that is backwards or diagonal. i have the after market module that allows height adjustment, but have tested it on the lowest and highest settings and in stock setup and the noise doesnt change. the car has 113,000kms on it and otherwise is sound..although i have to admit that the stereo really sucks,,its either too tonny or too bassy no matter what settings i choose. but i digress. im really after some advice from anyone with experience on these cars- perhaps even lexus owners as they have the same/similar front end. id even be prepared to change the front to a non airbag setup if that makes the problem go away.
  5. the wobble is from the front. at first i thought it was front left, but now it feels like its from "the front". i.e. not completely from the left. this thread has been invaluable to me- thank you all. I've had the car with toyota for a day, and am going to pick it up this morning. they were adamant that they would be able to find the problem- even after i told them that "ive heard that before"...from toyota. (i went to 3 toyota dealers and took 6 months for them to fix the intermediate steering shaft, which was a known toyota problem and a TSB). so my confidence in toyota isnt high. from this thread, and others, the drive shafts sound as good a candidate as any other. one i cant eliminate. ill re-post after i get toyota's verdict. cheers, tim
  6. here is an interesting link that appears to be the same as mine- but no fix.. just frustrated owners. http://www.productreview.com.au/r/toyota-aurion-2006-present/263621.html
  7. hi all- yep ive had all that done. Wheel bearings fine. no noise, drive shaft not replaced, but mechanic says the drive line and steering etc is all fine. it started as what I thought was a balance problem. after 3 balances, and after more attention to the symptoms, it appears to be trans related. BUT, the trans specialist cant find the problem without completely disassembling it. it changes gears fine, no noise, and trans fluid was in a condition to be expected for 150,000 kms. the clutch plate is engaging as it should. the thing that disturbs me is that I found numerous posts online from others that seemed to be reporting the same issue. But, none of the threads had any fix included. there was one thread from the US where the owner said that a software update fixed the problem. I'm struggling to work out how/why that would be...
  8. hi all- ive searched the web and the forums and found others reporting what seems to be the same thing, but ive yet to find a fix. I have a 2008 atx that has exhibited a wobble that seemed like a wheel balance issue. ive had the wheels balanced, aligned, and the latest is a trans fluid change. the car wobbles under light accel between 60-80kms mostly, and wobbles lightly at speeds slower or faster. when I disengage the trans, the wobbles stop. BUT, the trans specialist cant find any issues. the fluid showed no abnormal wear,a nd the converter works as it should. it seems that no one has a definitive fix for it. no fixes are detailed in the threads I have found online. anyone? cheers, tim
  9. perfect- what r u asking for them? im in adelaide..any idea of postage cost?
  10. need to restore car to original spec so Toyota will diagnose a problem ive had ever since lowering it...they quoted me $3000 fitted!!!! this saga has been going on for 12 months now so i figure ill just restore it (long story, original parts binned)...and sell it or force Toyota's hand.
  11. Not to mention the "Zig Zag" crab maneouvre going over speed humps and having to slow down to a crawl as they do so, thus really pi$$ing off the other drivers behind them. :P that'd be an issue if it was really low...which it isnt. i mindfully had it rather mild-ly lowered. Not too low to be an issue, but lower than stock. thats why this is so perplexing...it shouldnt change the dynamics much at all.
  12. both- worse on the left This thread might help out http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php/topic/24021-lowered-aurion-noise/page__st__20__gopid__458879#entry458879 wish it did.. the noise i have is mechanical..not rubber. gone the bump stops route already...no joy. no worn bushes, nothing.
  13. you should see the long- chronological version...and the bull**** that was spun by the dealers...
  14. Hi All- i am just about to send this email to Toyota, Toyota Dealer, Pedders and Pedders Franchise...ive taken a few formalities out of it so it suits a forum..anyone got any ideas? I bought a late (August) 2008 Aurion ATX approximately last September from CMI Toyota in Adelaide. I am having issues still, that have been manifesting since that time and am yet to find a resolution to the problem. I have two versions of the problem for your convenience- the short version (first), and the more detailed version if you want to read through it. The short version first. Short Version. When i bought the car from CMI, I discussed my intention to have the vehicle lowered and I was told that it would not void warranty provided it was done bvy a reputable company. After about day 5 of owning it, the vehicle was lowered with Pedders Sports Rider springs only. From memory the effective reduction in hei8ght was around 25mm. The original shocks were retained. I had an intermediate steering arm issue that was finally fixed by Peter Kittle Toyota after CMI Toyota couldnt fix it, however the car exhibited a substantial knocking from the front that has so far gone undiagnosed despite nearly a year of trying to correct it. Pedders tried King Springs and eventually CMI advised that the shocks were at fault so pedders replaced them at my cost. Peter Kittle replaced some further suspension parts (shocker heads?..cant recall) under warranty however that still didnt correct it. Peter Kittle (PK) then advised that it was most likely the king springs being too hard- and to have pedders change them back. This was done however the issue remains. Toyota now advise that they cannot assist me until the car is restored to original which becjons the question- how much of a geometry and consequential force/dynamics change does the new shock/spring combination (and the king spring/shock combo and the sports rider/original shock combo) have on the travel of the suspension to manifest in this very noticable clunking during driving (over potholes or changes in surface) and spoon drains and driveways? The difference in dynamics from such a change should be negligible, but i am sure can be exhacerbated by incorrect or poorly fitted or selected combination of third party parts. I feel that this situation is unlikely though as pedders have years and thousands of instances to draw experience and empirical lessons from. The issue is even more perplexing considering that Pedders head office report no such similar issues with the same vehicle, as do the local Salisbury Pedders- who have done several Aurions of same make/model and similar year? ..... Suffice to say that the car has been in and out of Toyota and Pedders now for a year trying to find this problem, cost me a set of shocks and loads of time- as it has for the others, and chronologically the result is the same- the problem still exists and hasnt been corrected. The latest quote is that to restore the vehicle to original itll cost me just under $2000..which, coupled with the lowering in the first place, and the shocks, means that in dollars alone, going back to original is going to amount to over $3000. That is a cost i hadnt accounted for when purchasing the vehicle- not anticipated and not exhibited in other aurions.my question would be why?, how?, and what can be done please? I am hoping by copying the parties on this email we can have a dialogue about the issue and get it resolved please. comments from the forum members are welcome! seems that so far the "experts" havent been able to sort it....
  15. hi, i have an atx that has been lowered and tinted, 19" mags etc.. now i want to swap the front bumper/fascia with either the sportivo version or the TRD. where do i go to obtain these please? anywhere local to adelaide? if i order them through a toyota authorised service center will it cost me more? any help would be appreciated. thanks, tim
