  1. G'day mate Very simple to fix. Put the key in the ignition, turn it on as though you wanted to listen to the radio, but don't start the car. On the multi function screen press the set up button, you'll then see an option for vehicle, press that and then you'll see a list of things that you can change, the auto locking etc is one of them. You can change whether the car locks itself and if it does how it handles unlocking etc. Just take your time and you'll be able to work it out. If all else fails I think they handbook for the car shows you how to do it as well. Hope this helps. Good luck
  2. Hi Can anyone help with an issue transferring contacts via Bluetooth? The phone connects and can be used just will not transfer my contacts list. Samsung Note 2 - 2012 ATX Thanks
  3. Hi Just taken delivery of a 2012 ATX - 9000km on the clock $12000 save on new - bargain. Whenever I unplug the rear seatbelts the warning chimes go off. Is there a way I can correct this or do I have to take it to a Toyota dealer to resolve? Any help would be appreciated. Previous car 2009 ATX, love the new Aurion
  4. G'day I'm wondering if anyone can help with a question. I've had to have the clutch on the alternator replaced on my 2009 ATX - thankfully at no cost. Does anyone know what the purpose of having a clutch fitted to the alternator is? The dealer seems to think that perhaps it is stop the alternator from running when it is required, in a similar fashion to the A/C compressor. Does anyone actually know what purpose the clutch serves? Just to satisfy my curiosity. Great forum. Thanks Dennis
  5. G'day Rai Have a go with the smarties packet, I know it sounds weird but for me it worked. The silver plastic pieces around the gear lever appear to be, to my eyes, too thin so they flex and rub against each other. Start on the right hand side nearest the gear lever, from my experience that side is worse, as I said gently wedge a flat bladed knife in between the black plastic of the centre console and the silver plastic of the surround, don't push too hard, just enough so you can slide the folded over cardboard down, take the knife out and I found a 5 cent piece was perfect for gently pushing the cardboard down slightly below the silver trim so you can't see it, don't push too far or it will just fall out inside the console. I've also found it worse when the car is hot, perhaps it's because I'm hot an bothered which makes it seem worse. My friends all laugh at me because I can't stand squeaks and rattles etc. Anyway, have a go and let me know if you have any luck.
  6. G'day Where do you think the rattles are coming from? I've had a lot of squeaks coming from around the gear lever area. I fixed them, one at a time by gently prizing the tow offending pieces apart with a flat bladed knife, eating a packet of smarties and then using the cardboard from the smarties to seperate the offending pieces of plastic. I know it sounds strange but I tried EVERY thickness of cardboard I could find to stop the squeaks and found that a double thickness of smartie packet is perfect. Hope this helps. The squeaks drove me up the bloody wall until I found them and sorted them out, one at a time.
  7. G'day Jason I'm also a newbie to the world of Aurion (having driven a 2003 Camry until it ticked over 300000km). I bought mine in October last year from a local dealer. The car is an ex government car and apart from the usual stone chips etc which you would expect in the country the overall presentation of the vehicle was excellent. The car has a full service history which is something I always like to see. General comments on my new ownership experience: Having come from a 2003 model Camry, I see many examples of cost saving measures in the Aurion so far as materials are concerned. Some of the plastic trim etc is nowhere near the quality of the plastic in the old Camry. Much to the Camry's credit after 300000km nothing was broken or had fallen off. I fear this may not be the case with the Aurion. My major concern (other than noisy suspension noted in my recent post) is the amount of squeaks and rattles which come from the dash/console. Being a picky ***** I have managed to locate and fix them by simply wedging pieces of cardboard from a packet of smarties in between the offending pieces of trim on the console. I was able to fit them in and then gently push them down far enough so that you can't see them and the squeaks have stopped. Who would have thought that smarties not only taste great but the box has another use. My attention was immediately drawn to the amount of power this thing generates. After having driven the Camry (3.0lt V6) for 7 years I was amazed how far engine technology had progressed. I was averaging around 480km from a 70lt tank around town from the Camry and now routinely get a little over 600 from the same size tank in the Aurion, in that respect I'm impressed by the amount of go the this has and the fuel efficiency. My experience on the open roads in country NSW has been good overall, the car cruises completely effortlessly and always seems to pick the right gear for the right situation, sometimes with a little lag between planting the foot and the gear change but I have never been able to wrong foot the gearbox where it changes it's mind after it's already selected a gear. If you are looking for a competent long distance cruiser I don't really think you could get a better locally produced car for the money when you take into account space, power, safety features, technology & fuel economy. I have found it a little heavy of fuel around the city (Sydney) but really think that it a combination of sitting for longish periods of time idling and my over zealous application of my size 12 right foot. I bought my car locally, and took it to the dealer in Dubbo, they had a look over the car for me to make sure that there was nothing that I should be aware of, they changed the oil & filter, put in new wiper blades, washed the car and bought it back to me and didn't charge me a cent. I guess the overall advice is that Toyota's are generally bullet proof provided that you look after them, if you are happy with the car and the price buy it, if my overall experience of the car translates to your purchase, I'm sure that you will be happy with it. Just take some time to work on the squeaks which you will find in the console/dash area, but there are plenty of posts here to help you sort them out. Good luck with your purchase. Dennis - Dubbo NSW
  8. Hi guys Thanks for the input. I also thought of something loose in the boot so removed EVERYTHING and still it rattles. Have since spoken to the local dealer who is going to have ANOTHER look at it when it goes in for service early in March. Whilst I'm a little frustrated with the rattle I'm also very pleased with the level of service and professionalism displayed by my local Toyota Dealer in Dubbo, they have looked after my last car (2003 Camry Altise) and only once had cause to return it after service. I'll carry on with them and let you know what happens. Thanks again for your thoughts.
  9. G'day Thanks for the interesting reading. I'm wondering if anyone can offer some advice with an annoying problem. I have a persistent rattle/knock coming from the left rear suspension on mt 2009 ATX, it only started recently and seems to have happened after a rather loud bang came from underneath the car - sounded like I had driven over a screwdriver. It has been back to the local dealer a couple of times: First time - told me that there were stoned lodged around the heat shield on the muffler - clearly treated me like a complete idiot. Second time - told me that they replaced some plastic clips holding the bumper bar on, and removed the rear seat to refit some wiring. After both attempts the problem is still there. The noise is evident when the suspension is traveling over a series of short sharp bumps, like road corrugations and sometimes it also does it when driving over joins in concrete roads. To me it sounds like the rear shock has packed up, the dealer has assured me that there is nothing broken or loose under the car. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience or has some advice as to what I should keep in mind when I take it back for the 3rd attempt. The car has 58000km on it. Thanks for you any advice.
  10. Hi guys I'm wondering if someone can suggest the best type of fuel injector cleaner for my 2009 ATX. Perhaps someone has tried various brands and has found one to be particularly effective. New to the Aurion world after driving a company supplied Camry for 7 years, have to say the Aurion is in a different class altogether. Thanks for a great forum, I've found it very interesting reading. Thanks Dennis
