  1. Well it's been quite a while since I was last on this forum and it looks like nothing's changed!
  2. G'day all Thinking about fitting a Redarc battery isolator to my LC200 Sahara. My question, does the vehicle already have a factory fitted isolator and if not, where would one locate an after market unit? Not a lot of room under there. I've had a bit of a look and there doesn't appear to be one Regards Tubby
  3. G'day Guys Many thanks for the sentiments, we survived with not a lot of damage. Been up here a long time and experienced my fair share of cyclones with nary the blink of an eye. This one, I can tell you we were s......g ourselves. Anyway, all good. Only got power and the phone back a day or so ago hence my absence. We're heading off at the weekend to pick up our van so I'll give you a 'heads up' re any suspension issues when we return in a couple of weeks. Regards Tubby
  4. G'day Jeff Many thanks for the input. As soon as Yasi's left we'll rebuild the house and then refocus on more important matters, like getting the vehicle sorted. Regards Tubby
  5. G'day Geoff Thanks for the reply. I've done quite a bit of research and everything you've stated validates everything I know to date. Thanks for the links, makes for an interesting read. Agree entirely with a TPMS purchase and will be investing in one. Will let you know how it all goes however at the moment everything's on hold while we deal with a cyclone. Regards Tubby
  6. G'day Geoff Many thanks for your comprehensive reply and views on various topics. I guess the thing that rubs me are the modifications, perceived or otherwise, that need to be done in order to do what the manufacturer says can already be done so long as all structural limitations are not exceeded. I owned a Patrol for many years and towed a 17' 6" Coromal with no dramas. However in order to tow anything larger, the number of mods required was bordering on the ridiculous so it was decided to upgrade, hence the LC purchase. I will definitely look at beefing up the rear end but I'd like to get a feel for the rig before I do that to see for myself how the whole thing moves. We have to drive 1800 klms home after we pick up the van so it will be a good shakedown trip however we'll be hanging around for a couple of days prior to making our way home, just to iron out any bugs that will involve the dealer. Regards Tubby
  7. Many thanks for the info Karl. I'll investigate a little further. Regards Tubby
  8. G'day all I purchased my 2007 LC200 Sahara (used) last month and as the original factory warranty was about to expire I was offered a 3 year extended factory warranty (which I took up) for $1944. No insurance company involved, it is a genuine warranty. Regards Tubby
  9. G'day Karl Many thanks for your response. I guess it's something I'll just have to live with, although, are you saying that the nav system in the Sahara can be replaced with a non-genuine article? Regards Tubby
  10. G'day Geoff It was just the bit about being able to increase the GVM. I don't think I'll go down that road however, but I might have a chat to ARB about beefing up the rear end a bit as we're to take delivery of a 22' 6" Roma in a couple of weeks. Already got the HR WDH so shouldn't be too much of a drama, I hope. Although it was mentioned on the Bushtracker forum that BT suggested that unless one was a professional (truck) driver he wouldn't recommend towing anything over 21' with a 200. A couple of reasons were given but no elaboration. Regards Tubby
  11. Thanks Dave I think you might right. I pretty much need conclusive proof that I need the mod. So far it's going the other way. Regards Tubby
  12. G'day Geoff Thanks for the reply. If you get a chance go to the bushtracker owners forum, click on 'tips on tow vehicles' then 'Toyota 200 series successes and failures'. Be interested in your thoughts. Regards Peter
  13. G'day Geoff Many thanks for the reply, it's not easy to rattle the cage sufficiently to elicit a response on this forum, as you may well find out! It was actually suggested by a mate of mine who drags a biggish Jayco around the place with a cruiser, but not a 200. It's not something I'm willing to jump into unless it can be proven that it's a necessity. However, on another note, it has been suggested on this and other forums about beefing up the suspension to increase the vehicle's GVM given that there is potential to exceed the manufacturer's GVM, particularly when towing a big van. Have you found it necessary to consider that option to give you 'more fat'? There are other threads on this subject on this forum. Regards Tubby
  14. Got a GME TX3420 supplied and fitted. The remote head is attached to the side of the centre console on the passengers side almost at the top with the mic attached via velcro to the dash just below the passengers a/c temp control. The radio is located behind a panel out of sight up under the glovebox. Why the passengers side you may ask? Because the bride will be operating it while I concentrate on the driving. Regards Tubby
  15. G'day All I plan to do some serious towing with my LC200 Sahara. It has been suggested that I invest in an oil cooler for the transmission. Anyone done the same or otherwise seen the need? Regards Tubby
  16. G'day All Recently purchased a Telstra Explorer mobile and it seems that the bluetooth feature in my Sahara (2007) won't accept incoming calls with this mobile linked to it. If a call is made to the handset it will register on the handset but not on the nav. screen until some ten seconds later at which point a half a ring tone is heard followed by disconnection and a message which states that the call has been disconnected by the network. However, one can ring out through the bluetooth connection, no problem. There is also no battery or signal indication on the nav. screen however the bluetooth icon indicates a good connection. If I connect my wife's mobile thru the bluetooth feature there are no problems, even all the indicators mentioned above are present. I might add that my phone has bluetooth version 2.0 and my wife's 1.2 with the vehicle running v1.0 so that may have something to do with it. I'm also aware that some phones are not compatible with the system so that could also be the issue. Any thoughts? Regards Tubby
  17. Quick question. The owners manual states that the dealer is to be consulted before installing a mobile radio due to the potential interference to some of the vehicle's electronics. Can anyone shed some light on this requirement? Has anyone done so and if so, what were they advised? Just curious. Regards Tubby
  18. G'day All Brand new to this forum, previously owned a Patrol (I'll start ducking now) so this is my first Cruiser which I've had for just over a week now so don't know too much about 'em, but **** I'm impressed so far. I too am curious about the positioning of the radio, I've got a GME TX4400 which I removed from the Patrol before I was relieved of it so I'm also looking to install it in to the Cruiser. As was mentioned previously there's not a lot of places where one could hang a 4400 as they're a bit bigger than the 3440. I am getting it fitted professionally as I don't trust myself to fit it to this vehicle even tho I fitted it to the Patrol so any ideas would be great so that I can discuss 'em with the sparky. Regards Tubby
