  1. Could the moderator pls move this to the General Discussion section, tried doing it but can't. Regarding Toyota keeping the top performers,it's not in this case, it's about who's the cheapest to lay off. Of course those who lead the strike last year and constantly whinging about the company will be the first to get the flick.
  2. http://www.news.com....r-1226314052482 Absolutely appalling the way Toyota is treating its staff, denying those who want a redundancy package and forcing out people with young families. All part of minimizing the cost of the axing exercise at the expense of its workers. Feeling so disgusted that I'm almost ashamed driving a Toyota. The way Toyota Australia is behaving is totally un-Australian. No wonder the workers are deliberately introducing defects into the new camry's being built. For me, I don't think my next car will be a Toyota, especially if it's built locally.
  3. Heard from sources within Toyota that the assembly line workers are deliberately introducing defects into the new cars as they are angry with their Management over the forced redundancies. Let's hope this will settle down soon otherwise our car's reputation and reliability will be down the tube.
  4. The old camry 2az motor takes more fuel than the aurion. 12 l per 100km for the camry vs 11 l per 100 km for the aurion. This is mixed real life cycle. I've leased both cars from new. No droning sound in the aurion like in the camry, better torque in the aurion, curtain airbags, 6 spd, I could go on and on.
  5. Ah, knew you would point to that clip. That rear aluminium bumper is standard on all US Camry's, developed because of the US safety design rules. In fact, they have a front aluminium bumper as well. For the TRD Aurion, the rear aluminium bumper is available only on the 3500 SL, not the 3500 S. As for chassis stiffening, it does sweet FA. Does provide additional protection in the event of a front/rear end collision. Why did they bother ? Heard of "Marketing"? Before you start pointing to the bracing behind the rear seat back and front strut brace, they are standard even on the humble Camry Sportivo. B)
  6. And what chassis strengthening might that be? A 4 point roll cage with H-Brace underbody bracing with subframe connectors and rear strut brace maybe? Or maybe a fully seam-welded shell is used instead ? Your TRD Aurion chassis is no stiffer than the Sportivo it started life as.
  7. Freddy won't be able to buy the TRD Aurion rear kit unless he is able to obtain the Vin of a TRD Aurion in order to be able to order one. He might be able to "borrow" someone's Vin to buy one, but this will be a once off, as a second buy will raise eyebrows. There's not that many TRD Vin's out there anyway, less than 500 have been sold, 200 are to internal staff and Government, only about 300 have been bought by the public national wide.
  8. wat about the body kit? How much percent are u sure? 90%? 80%? 100%? The scissor doors WILL fit - I'm 200% sure. The Camry and Aurion share the same exact doors. There's no difference between the US Camry and Oz Camry and Japan Camry. NO welding, cutting required. As for the body kit, side skirts WILL fit as well. Front and rear bumpers spoilers however will NOT fit - Aurion has different front and rear bumpers to the Camry. Because of the facelift and taillift, the Aurion bumpers are slightly longer, by around 40mm total length. Fyi, the Asian Camry in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan is our Aurion badged as Camry's. As for wheels from China and Thailand being sh!t, guess where the TRD Aurion wheels are from ? Did you think Oz, UK or USA ? Ha ! Think again. Just because they are third world countries, you think their wheels are inferior ? For your information, the best Japanese wheels now come from China, Thailand, Taiwan and Philippines. Do you know where ROH get some of their wheels ? Philippines ! Been to wheel manufacturers in Thailand, China and Taiwan and compared them to our ROH in Adelaide, ROH is like back in the stone age in their manufacturing process. Oh btw, do you know where Ford and Holden get their alloys from ? USA ? Wrong ! Try Thailand & China.
  9. The Aurion is a Camry with a facelift and taillift. They are the same car. Our Camry is a global car, ie. exactly the same as the US Camry, apart from the engine, the US Camry has the V6 3.5, our Camry has the 2.4. Therefore the scissor doors will defnitely bolt onto the Aurion. No modification will be needed.
  10. Good news is : TRD seats will bolt straight into a Camry - no modifying of rails are required, aurions share the same floor pan as the camry, and virtually 95 % of all parts. Bad news is : You won't be able to buy TRD seats from TRD Dealers no matter how much you bribe them, they can't order them in the first place. They can only order TRD parts with TRD Vin numbers. The only way ? Hope for a TRD Aurion to be written off, then buy the seats from the wrecker and bolt into the Camry. While you're at it, you might as well transfer the V6 plus supercharger kit across, the ECU and TCU and suspension - Hey presto, you've got a TRD Camry. Everything will bolt in easy.
  11. Mate, if you can get the TRD Aurion wheels for $800, you might want to start a business selling the wheels to Toyota. Fyi, wheels are from China, not made locally in Aus. Also don't waste your breath trying to buy TRD Aurion parts from dealers, you won't be able to buy anything, not even a badge, unless you prove ownership of one, ie. Vin number.
  12. The something that they have added is a rear spoiler, for aerodynamic purposes and looks, pretty much the same as what the HSV Commodores, VRX Magnas have. As far as strengthening the chassis, there's zilch that has been done, not even a rear strut brace. Even the bushes on the sway bars are standard.
  13. well..i guess partly its for the love of hondas..and power wise..both both abt the same output..so not much diff there right? But if i do keep the sportivo..then i'll start more mods..exhaust..and possibly boost controller.. There's heaps of difference between NA and forced inducted engines with similar power output. Forced Inducted engines will reach its peak power much quicker than an NA, thus have more acceleration. Eg. A Wrx with 155kW easily out accelerates the S2000 with 175kW although the Wrx is a heavier car. This is in a rolling start so traction is taken out of the equation.
  14. How do you know for certain? I was pretty sure last year's sportivo concept hinted at turbocharging the current 2.4L engine, so we should probably wait and see :) You'll be waiting for a very long time for a turbocharged 2.4l to appear, possibly next model which is due in 2011.
  15. 17" alloys are not standard, Altise only gets 15" steel rims. Aurion will only be released in November. Your big wig's contact at Toyota is wrong, there won't be a TRD Camry. TRD Aurion release has been delayed from Apr to June 07. TRD Hilux will be Nov 07. Only 2 TRD models so far.
  16. Find it difficult to believe that the Corolla Sportivo will hose the XR6 4.0. Front wheel drive vs rear wheel drive, the traction of the Ford will leave the Corolla spinning in it's tracks from start. After that the torque of the six will pull away. The sportivo can't even keep up with a 92 EG Civic Vti Twin Cam.
  17. I can assure you that there won't be a turbocharged Camry 2.4l. This is the first time that Toyota Australia is having some design input into a car from Japan, ie. the Aurion, and even with loads of help from Japan, they are already at their wits end, let alone design another Turbo 2.4. There will be a 3.5 Sportivo though, although I doubt you can really call it a "Concept". As for the reason for not for having a manual V6, let's just say it is more "economical" making them all autos.
  18. true fromnow on im not saying anything till its certain. + i'll ask my dad again about it. So has your Dad got any new information about the car? Is is still an AWD?
  19. work i heard from one of the engineers at toyota is the V6 WILL be seen in the Sportivo by next March and "it's really beautiful". He also called it 'exquisite' and 'sophisticated'. Don't know if something called a 'Sportivo' should be described like that, but the V6 is supposed to be a monster, performance-wise. The Aurion IS a Camry with a facelift and taillift. It is the same car. Other panels and dimensions are exactly the same. Only minor changes to the dashboard. The V6 will not appear in a Camry, only in the facelifted Camry(aka Aurion). The TRD Aurion will be launched in April 2007 with 220kW, supercharged, starting life as an Aurion Sportivo, then modified with bolt on bits. No AWD, only FWD. Burnouts galore with 19" wheels !
