  1. I put a new head unit in the vehicle and it is now giving me "DC Error"......been told by Alpine is is to do with either speakers blown or shorting out...it was working fine......then suddenly not...so just looking at replacing the speaker that is faulty with a new pair and not spending a bomb....thank you for the help :)
  2. Hi Folks, I amwondering what the dimensions (eg inches of) of the factory speakers in both the front and rear of the vehicle are as I need to replace them. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated also. Thanks, Phoenix
  3. I had the same trouble onto the Corolla and I guess it's similar.......depends how it clips together or does it screw...if screws try undoing all of them and then doing them up in sequence as one or more of them may have more tension on than the other....if clips together make sure everything behind the panel is flush with the dash before attempting it clip back in...just my two cents worth :)
  4. I hope to answer this and many other questions about making an ascent corolla into an ultima....the ultimate makeover lol
  5. Well I have the lovely beige interior, plan is to make a lot more of it either black or dark grey.....not sure how hard it is to redo the carpets etc.....just with the tinted windows thinking of getting the beige will look a bit daggy so that will get the hole covered....a tweeter speaker so that is what goes in the area behind the wing mirror.....may have to get one of those and put it there.... Will try out the idea with the chux.....did try that...has to been an easier way thou lol..... I thought as much as with the power windows....that at least the plug for the wiring loom should be there etc....will get the door trim off and look into.... With the cruise, could do aftermarket but I think the Corolla is not drive by wire is it.....all computerised and would want to try to use the Toyota stalk...my experience with Toyota is they pretty much install it but leave off the switch and maybe one other component.... I am just about to do the fog lights but the last wally owner cut the end of the plugs off so it means I have to find the plugs, am planning to visit wreckers on that score....
  6. Japan Spec Sedan.....sorry didn't include those details earlier....managed to sort of get the door trim off, just forgotten how to get the current window winder off. There is a spare connector there so am assuming that has to do with the power windows.... The reason I figure cruise control should almost be installed is that most modern cars are computerised so things like actuator arms and stuff like that should not longer be required with the cruise control....
  7. Hiya Folk, Want to add power windows and cruise control to my 2003 Corolla Ascent....pretty certain the wiring should already be there...should be simple process of plugging all the required bits in and away we right???? Well would help if knew apart from the power window motors and switches what else I need.....heard regarding cruise control you can just plug in the stalk and it works.....but really can it be that simple or am I going down a path that is a world of pain..??
  8. Had similar issue with my Corolla. Could be that the alignment is not holding that was done due to worn castor bushing. If you replace them been told that a solid polyurethane bushing is the way to go.......just my random 2cents worth
  9. Was a post someplace on here about this.....it's really easy to install the stalk...just remove the shroud around the steering wheel....lock the wheel one way remove the screw directly behind the steering wheel....lock it the other way...same deal...couple underneath....the wiring should already be there...new stalk clips in easily......as for relay....narva is the one I used....slots directly into the relay plugs behind the flip out tray on drivers side.....but am guessing you found the other article and you have it done by now....
  10. One thing I know about the Corolla 2003 is that there were two places of manufacture for it....one is Japan and the other was South Africa....not sure if this applies to the 2000 model or not but with the brakes on the South Africa build you need to replace the pads, replace the rotors scenario but not with the Japan build....has to do with the brand of pad being Lucas.....pretty aggressive apparently.....if this is wrong info please feel free to correct me....
  11. Thanks for the offers of help and all advice......have got it installed now and it's working great......one of the best things I have done for the car...
  12. Yes, it's about that.......at the very least for my mental health lol......but don't want to spend the $$$$$$.....
  13. Brought the unit.....but having a dog of a time trying to find a wiring harness adaptor for it now....anyone got any ideas.....tried what Supercheap gave me....it didn't fit.....so wondering what next....thought there would be a quick connect adaptor these days.....I don't want to have to mod one...thanks for any tips folks..
  14. Update - found a second hand Alpine CDE-103BT for $260 - who thinks should jump at it - cheap way out of the problem I think.......
  15. Hi, Need to install a bluetooth handsfree kit.....decided against the visor clip on types.....too easy to forget and too easy to steal....so decided on an in dash type....thinking of parrot but don't like the little lcd that comes with....so thinking now on a head unit.....not too sure on which Corolla models comes with bluetooth....thinking it's only the 2011 model.....if so wonder what the replacement unit is worth and can I mod it to fit in a 2003 Corolla or am I better off and is it less expensive to simply buy a single din after market unit and go with that??? Also I am looking for a wired mic and not in dash one if possible....thank you for your input....
