  1. My exhaust place said the same thing, until he asked me if it was a sportivo or not...
  2. I'm curious as to what kinda of 1/4 times and terminal speeds the 130kw crew are getting. Anyone done any runs yet??
  3. Ported headers would give you more drivability with every day driving. If we are purely chasing a higher peak number which wouldn't be bad, casue I don't believe that you lose bottom end power, it just feels that way. DD Intake manifold Stage 3 Cams, Which means you need new valves and valve springs Port and polish PPE exhaust manifold PFC Which may bring you close to the 130kw range OR you could add a stroker into that equation and you should definitely get over that figure. Or take CHA45, cause those later gen 3s produce heaps of power for a 2L engine.
  4. It always comes down to how much you want it and if your prepared to pay for it or not.
  5. Congratulations!! Seems like spring is the season where love is really all around!
  6. I got a berklee 6 x 10 x 20 offset/offset 2.5" straight through oval muffler, it was quieter compared to the 2.5" twinloop that I perviously had. If i went down to 2.25" it would probably be the best compromise between sound level and comfort. You can only ever have one of those two points though.
  7. Happened to me before, and my bumper bar just came outta the clips though, pushed it back in nothing wrong. Very very similiar scenario, but my car just rolled into his. At the end of the day, no matter how you look at it, it was my fault. $500 excess later and you move on.
  8. So there we have it, cause I was too lazy to look it up. Take those fuel consumption figures as guides between different vehicles and not promises.
  9. To the OP, as everyone has been saying already about driving style as well as condition influence the quoted fuel consumption. Another thing you have to realise is that at the end of the day a kluger is a big and heavy car. Maybe someone should take a look into how these quoted fuel consumption of the car is obtained. Cause my general understanding was that you get the quoted combined fuel consumption and realistically add another 15-20% to it. My dad just recently took delivery of one, and his average is about 16-17L/100km. If you think that is high, its mainly because he mostly does just goes to the local shops and local areas. No complaints from him because at the end of the day he didn't purchase the car simply because it had really good fuel economy. Given the size of the car I think it acheives good fuel economy, you just can't really compare it to absolute numbers. My sportivo on a bad week will be doing 9L/100km and the best I've seen is 7.4L/100km.
  10. Panel filter will not make too much of a difference in terms of performance gain, possibly better throttle response. CAI should be ok, if your really worried, paint it matt black
  11. What about... TRD S/C + 1zz versus n/a modded (Catback + CAI) 2zz?? Could probably find this on 9th gen, but too lazy...
  12. How much did they charge you for the clean?? You can get your injectors ultrasonically cleaned for about $20-25/injector, but honestly your fuel filter would of removed most of the nasties before going through to the injectors....
  13. We have a Ford falcon station wagon as a work car and its absolute rubbish. Its the newest car on the field but we are already facing alot of dramas, makes the old toyota hilux look so much better (given that is probably 15 years older)!! We also have an older falcon wagon, but I'm happy to push it into a creek if I wouldnt' get in trouble with it...lol
  14. Bah, as long as you have the mod bug in you it is never finished...Its always in progress
  15. Retightened bolts on the rear end of the car...........still can't get rid of that stupid creaking noise, thinking that maybe the bushes have gone to heaven and need a possible replacement set soon *sigh*
  16. If you actually just plug the PFC directly in your car will start no problems, just won't be able to drive it very far. You can drive around with the base tune, but I wouldn't be fanging it or anything. When I got it installed, I had a tank of Vortex 98 + Octane booster to make sure it wouldn't ping too hard. Driving back home and then off to the tuners the next day, keeping the revs and throttle position low. I had problems with a granny in her old school beetle, and I must admit she had me at every traffic light :D
  17. Thats funny, traditionally 2ZZs have been in the <1800 category (which it is, since it's 1796cc) Checked out the results, and its been placed in the <1800 category. Second was a 4AGE blacktop laying down around 91kw. The 3sge did good in a ST162 at 107kw.
  18. Took it to the Toymods dyno day, highest in my category (1.8 - 2.8L n/a), not many people in that category though. I got 115.6kw, and I think I should get a retune...the power curve fails to climb in the last 1000rpm :(
  19. Check the ICV, I think on newcelica.org they have a tutorial on how to clean it out properly.
  20. I will be attending the dyno day at Silverwater with the Toymods group tomorrow. Hopefully I'll see some people there, I'l be there in my white sportivo.
  21. I'm interested, but I really don't think you'll get the numbers. Not trying to discourage you or anything... But I'm interested to see if I made any more power up top with my current setup...
  22. snorkel removal does not increase the power probably at all, 0.5kw maybe??? $550 for a TRD CAI? Go get a CES CAI and a drift filter from autobarn. That would be less then $500 for sure.
  23. I've only had issues with the clunky shifting, but that was kinda fixed with a heavier gearknob (TRD SS didn't really help :P)
  24. Obviously a guy that does not know how to draw comparisons. Ae1xx vs zze12x, take your pick Got to admit that the build quality of the sportivos are not as good as the japanese corollas, but you barely notice it. NVH was never a plus on this series corolla, but if your a modder it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, its what suits your needs. Most of the guys on twin cam are in love with their Ae series corolla, just like how the guys here love their zze corollas. Should throw that question up on a civic forum! :D
