  1. CLEAN YOUR MAF SENSOR!! Well i'm sure most people here might already do this on a regular basis. For the people that haven't done it before, do a search on the internet on how to clean your MAF sensor. I used electronic contact cleaner, from jaycar at $10 a can. Its pretty straight forward, remove MAF sensor, remove O-Ring, and blast away with the can, let it dry, reinstall the MAF sensor (remember to plug it in :D ). Take care though cause you wouldn't want to damage it ($$$). Anyways my car does not sound as rough and idles lower and the does not vibrate as much. Dare i say that power delivery is smoother, no extra power though. I'm more happy with this result then my CAI. :( Cheers P.S. If this is already stickied or something, then my apologies...just too excited!!
  2. I think its quite new technology.......no one has really taken that route. Try www.spyderchat.com, one guy got a whole setup running within a month. Search for rotrex. Cheers P.S. Need to do more reading, i was looking at modding the 1zz with the 1.93L kit, got quoted 2K for machining only!!...but maybe the rotrex is a better option :D
  3. We all know the rules when it comes to dyno numbers anyway. :D Yeah i was referring to the 1zz only. I haven't heard anything about the 2zz one, so i'm not commenting on it. But that is indeed a surprising result i must say. Cheers
  4. I'm in too!! Now i just need a grille... Cheers
  5. Mate you might want to read into how the guys achieved this on their 1zz :P :P :P :P running 23psi on a stock setup .... hmmmm ..... can anyone say gernade. what i can tell you though is the boys managed to get over 400whp out of a stock 2zz ... yes thats right stock internals ... only mods were injectors & computer + boost obviously and thats it ...... now that shows how good a 2zz motor is :P :P :P :P I don't think there running a stock setup, they are running with off the shelf items. Only thing that is stock is the crank and the inlet manifold. I believe they are prolly running the 1.93L (Forged piston and sleeve) kit. I"ve been pondering about that kit for a while now Cheers
  6. If you want some more reading with regards to the Greddy and applying it to the 1zz, try www.9thgencorolla.com They are a US based site, with lots of info on modding the zze12# corolla. Alternatively, go to the tech section in the GREDDY website and have a look at the manual Cheers
  7. Really?! Hmmm........Thanks to you i might have to start looking into the emange now. Cheers P.S. I just always assumed that it was in a completely different price bracket
  8. Price is usually the major factor......... :(
  9. Have you got any experience with it Rollamods?? I'm not saying about installation, sounds pretty straight forward. But i'm just wondering about the before and after effect. With regards to the fuel economy i'm getting, even i'm stumped with why its happening. I'm pretty sure its not my driving cause after about a week i've gotten all over it, but consistently getting 320km/tank is not very pretty. I believe that maybe my MAF sensor might be a bit dirty (75K), so need to go to jaycar to get their electrical contact cleaner. The CO contact cleaner at my local spare parts shop wants $35 for that bottle :o Jaycar sells a similar product for $10. Cheers
  10. Bar any other commitments i suppose i'll get it by the end of august....if not then after november. I'll look around in Indonesia as i'm going over there for a wedding in Nov. Hopefully its cheaper. My reason for getting a camcon or SAFC is that fuel consumption is very very bad with a CAI. I use to get 500km to the tank......but its now a consistent 320km............that is very bad in anyones book. Got rid of it and running stock intake right now. Cheers
  11. Well it all depends on what you would like to ultimately do to your car. Power FC Vs Neo SAFC........not a good comparison. Completely different products that have different application. I don't think it would work with vvtl-i at all. Last time i checked out Apexi's line up, they support vtec only (hence VAFC). If your doing basic bolt ons (I/H/E) then i suppose SAFC would be alright for your application....if your looking at much more further work on your engine, then you would need finer control which in this case you should opt for the Power FC. Do a search and look up some discussions on piggyback controls on this forum, its quite informative. Power FC cost 3 times more if i'm not wrong. Power FC is much better......question is would you spend that much, If money was no problem go Power FC!! Cheers P.S. I'm tossing between a SAFC-II or Camcon, why you must ask SAFC-II looks nice!!
  12. Now i can finally sleep at night Thanks for the help guys Cheers
  13. So the hose is only for the 05+ corollas. Mine is a 2003 model corolla. So this doesn't apply to me correct??
  14. Don't you just love the internet..........a vast sea of information.....reliable information is another. I've installed my CAI a few weeks ago. I'm still reading up on other peoples experience etc, but i just need one thing straight. Does blocking the vacuum hose apply to me?? I have a 1zz not the 2zz. I understand that the 2zz has a butterfly valve in the stock airbox, thus the need to cap the vacuum hose. But i've heard some people mentioning about blocking the hose when they have a 1zz rolla. HELP!! Cheers P.S: Also i looked at the picture that northy posted up in the CES CAI section for the 1zz.....there is definitely a hose going into the air intake.
  15. I drive an auto conquest. i regularly make the trip up to around 6K.....won't go any further lol. I've tried driving gently but it doesn't seem to make a difference in my fuel consumption. After installing the CAI, i've lost about 50km per tank.....i'm currently getting 400km to the tank (when the light goes on)........that is so bad. I should maybe take it to another mechanic Cheers P.S. i think i drive more gently with the CAI on though, it bloody noisy if you boot it past 4K
  16. Uh.... Basically i removed my oem filter box + accessories (Resonator, ducting, etc).........I didn't block any tubes whatsoever, but i have a 1zzfe. All i did was unclip i think maybe it was a temperature sensor attached to the outside of the airbox and the MAF sensor. Is this ok?? I think only the 2zz-ge require capping of certain hoses. Cheers P.S. I hope i didn't do anything wrong... :(. After driving with the CAI for about 3 days the car does seem to rev faster...doesn't feel like its struggling (that much) anymore.
  17. Is it that noisy you reckon?? I have no experience with other filters whatsoever. But i just installed my CAI (from shift performance) and Apexi intake yesterday, took me almost forever to put it on (2hours) and finally gave up and remove part of the bumper off to get rid of the stupid resonator. Hooked everything up, broke off one of the heads of the screws that is suppose to be holding the MAF sensor. Haven't fixed that yet. Switched the car on, after resetting the ECU..............It was noisy.............it sounded sick (ill)....sucking like crazy!! Minimal gains i think, the car seems to be able to accelerate better after 60km/h though. But for normal driving, doesn't do much. Also does anyone notice a weird metallic sound (almost like rattling) around 3-3.5K...after 3.5K it seems to become more smooth........but around the 3.5K mark it sounds a bit wrong. Cheers P.S. i wonder if i can run a high 16 in the auto or not.
  18. Pending as well for me thanks (Don't forget me :( ) If it gives a nice finish on the outside i'm in for sure. Cheers
  19. I'm interested too. As always the price determines the decision. :D
  20. MAN!! Thanks for all the input guys, now i'm kinda put off as to the amount of things that is required to convert it. But i'm not to the point where i'm giving up, not yet anyway. :( I'll do a bit more researching into it to see how it goes. If it indeed is that much of a hassle i'll off load it to my wife and prolly get a 1.5L yaris ( ). But the 1zzfe has much more better potential then the 1nzfe...ARGH!! Thanks all anyway
  21. Dear All, Just signed in a few days ago, so hi to everyone. 1. Does anyone have a rough cost on converting an auto to a manual? Doesn't need to be exact just an approx figure is ok. I know that prolly selling the Rolla (2003 Conquest) and buying another one might be the better option (maybe a yaris?), but if the cost of the conversion isn't too much then i might give it a go. Reason for that is i believe the auto trans is very inefficient, also i read somewhere that your losing about 10KW compared to the manual. Thanks.
