  1. So I kicked off my upgrades yesterday and I am fairly happy to report that I am confident the new TR splits are going to go in once I have completed fabricating the pods. This is the stock speaker - it appears a little different from previous models, maybe it just looks that way in person. I then set about making my template This is my clearance, plus thickness of my pods once they are mounted The comparison - upgrade vs stock - :-) very excited to give these guys a run, been in the garage for many years. How my new speaker will sit (kinda) and finally marking out my template onto the MDF for the base of the pod. I have finished cutting all my mounts out now and glued and screwed them ready for fitment this weekend, just need to finish off my crossovers (with this particular speaker kit, you build your own from the components that are supplied) If anyone is interested I will keep updating the progress and take some more pics. Also, sorry for the formatting, I don't know how to post pictures the way everyone else has on this board so I had to settle for photo bucket.
  2. My blackberry bold 9700 is working great. Thus far (2 weeks) it's been the best Bluetooth connection I have had in a car. My only complaint is that my address book does'nt upload names only the number appears on the LCD of the radio and when I try to use the voice recognition for dialing it fails, but normal calling from the handset works great and I can accept an incoming call and hang up from my steering wheel buttons.
  3. Had my new ATX delivered with a full tank (no idea what fuel) and got about 600 km's from that tank, I than put in a small amount (shell vpower) to get me through a couple of days till my fuel card arrived and filled up from near on empty (over 60L) with shell E10. Drove with the air con on non stop and all city driving and got just over 550km's. Today I filled up from near on empty with shell 95. Car has 1100km's on it thus far. I always test a few different fuels (refineries) in my own cars when new as I have found varied results with different manufacturers and the end result can be as high as an extra 80km's from a single tank. With the Aurion I am limited to shell due to company car policy with my workplace.
  4. This thread has been a great read and will come in very handy when I kick off my upgrades. I am hoping to fit some splits in the front that I already have, however I know that they are huge and most likely won't fit, but that won't stop me trying. They are called total recoil splits (most people would have never heard of them, but they were not cheap and never been used by me yet). I purchased them about 8 - 10 years ago and waited patiently till I had an install worth using them on, and this will be the one. If they don't fit I will sell them and hopefully fund speakers that do fit :-) I only want to add a single sub and leave the rear standard although I am starting to think that the bass will be fairly restricted with what can get through to the cabin with what's been posted here so that will depend on some testing I can do to see what works for me. I am not after earthshaking bass that can be heard from streets away but I do like to feel my music and hope that inside the cabin it moves some air.
  5. Thanks, I am in Sydney in the Bankstown area.
  6. Hey all, Recently took delivery of my 2011 Aurion ATX and discovered this forum through my investigation of upgrading the factory speakers. The car is a company car, however I am not limited to what improvements I want to make providing I can leave it the way I found it in a couple of years. I drive 1 hour each way to the office plus weekend driving so it's in my interests to enjoy my time whilst driving :-) More of my time will be spent reading more so than posting and I have already spent a few hours here before I registered. Happy Easter to everyone and thanks for keeping a community such as this going as it's an awesome resource for new players such as myself.
