  1. We suspect one or many injectors are leaking in our ZRE corolla. What are some decent/reliable aftermarket ones that are available? edit. These are some cheapies from ebay, any good? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4pcs-Fuel-Injector-23250-0T020-For-09-15-Toyota-Corolla-Matrix-1-8L-23250-0T020/254355188408?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D60278%26meid%3D7ba4f25b6c024e1cbe05bb900d0ebcc8%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dco%26sd%3D223581643138%26itm%3D254355188408%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 Also, I'm after something that will just drop in, with no mods to them or the computer etc. Cheers
  2. Our ZRE152 factory stereo (base model) has started playing up. It says there is a disk in there when there is not, so time to get something a bit nicer. Our budget is the minimun we can get a way with, but we do want a reasonable sound. Do all aftermarket double dins stereos fit? I see some talking about 200mm etc. Are the factory upgrade decks (say from a Levin) worth it or should I go aftermarket. What are some decks worth looking at, something that is more just plug n play with out manually soldering wires etc, but do want an output for a sub. Are the factory speakers ok, they sound pretty dull playing from the factory deck. If they are worth upgrading what are some direct fits. Anyone used those underseat subs. Are they ok or should I go for a full 12" box setup. I want some decent bass.
  3. Is there a how-to on replacing a fuel filter on the ZRE. I've seen the video on the ZZE setup, but the ZRE filter looks very different.
  4. Thanks for the pointer. I had a chance to look at it last night. I suspect it is indeed the stalk, as when I first turned it on no lights, flicked it off and on a couple of times and it started working. Flicking it off and an a few more times it randomly would work, othertimes it would not. Looks like a trip to Toyota is in order. Is there a how-to available for replacing it?
  5. In my LS1 commodore (I know not a corolla) I tried it for 1 tank. My car is mafless tuned for 98. SOTP I though it felt a bit sluggish, and the computer was pulling up to 4 degree timing out (I can fully log it and view it at home). I drive the same trip all the time in the car and fuel economy is always around 12.3 to 12.4, with the 100 octane it jumped to 13.3. I didn't try any flat out performance runs as I was already concerned it was ripping out timing so stayed away from WOT.
  6. My wife was driving home last night and noticed the dash lights and radio was cutting in and out. It was rpetty late when she got home (I was in bed) so I didn;t get a chance to check anything out. My plan is to check fuses to see if one is not sitting correctly, and check to ensure there are no shorts around the battery. Google says maybe the tail lights are also cutting out, so I should check their fuse too. Is there anything else I can check / known issues? QldKev
  7. Why? wouldn't both cars be better from a decent air intake setup? Toyota wanted to keep the car fairly quite, so used the air intake they went for. It's not like either of them are quick cars a Sportivo 0-100km in 8.4sec is slow if you ask me. Have to admitt that type of money seems a bit excessive for the style of intake. I got my full OTRCAI for my V8 for about that money. And that thing can do 0-100 in 4.65secs and would be able to drop at least another sec with a decent stally and tyres.
  8. Our ZRE152 has averaged 7.8L/100 over the last 10,000km, by the display. 40% Highway, rest around the town. Mostly e10 fuel, with the random tank of 98 to help keep the injectors clean. QldKev
  9. Just ordered a set of the weather shields for the ZRE152, and the car is booked in for Friday to be tinted with Octane at tint a car. QldKev
  10. I've had both on my cars. 20% is illegal but it is a nice tint, I wouldn't go much darker, I found a 15% I had to be a pain reversing at night. 35% is ok in some of the better tints cause they give a nice black color. It will also depend on the color of your interior, dark interiors make the tint look darker. Also if you ever need to get a RWC put on some white sheepskins, and it helps quite a lot. QldKev
  11. A couple of months late, but incase you have not already got an exhaust on our AE101R we went a 2 1/4" cat back. Using a long hotdog under the back seat and a offset straight through glass packed muffler on the back, existing via a s/s tip. Sounds pretty decent, way better than a farty cannon. An idea of the muffler I'm talking about it here; but make sure it is glass packed. http://www.stainlessworks.net/cart/popup_image.php?pID=530&osCsid=af019aa4e1c2a203a1a4c87234ff6dba QldKev
  12. Thanks for the welcomes. If we are ever down in Brissy when there is a meet on we'll try and get there. The AE101R has got some basic mods, Air pod 2 1/4" exhaust 15" mags Decent stereo / subs Sitting a bit lower than stock (not too much as we live in a country town) It had a sports steering wheel but the son doesn't like it, so it has the stock one back :( Dark tint Tacho About the only thing I would like to do is look at running an oil catch can as it has always breathed a bit of oil back into the intake at high revs. At this stage I'm not allowed to touch the ZRE152R, but I will keep working on it. I'm not even allowed to add a sub QldKev
  13. Hello peeps I'm QldKev, yep from Queensland and my name is Kev We've had an AE101R for about 8 or 9 years and it's still going strong, and a few months ago handed that down to the son. With that we got a replacement car a ZRE152R. Although I don't want to do heaps of mods to the new car I was reading SteveAndBelle's review of the underseat subs and it has got the ideas going. A bass upgrade is on the cards as the stock system really suffers for bass at low volume. I've also got a VX Berlina with a GENIII which is more my toy for modding. QldKev
