  1. That seems strange mixo.. I bought my previous 2010 Hybrid as a Demo so technically I was the 2nd owner but still got the $130 fixed price servicing :-/
  2. I find the ride a bit firm in my H with the tyres at 35 PSI. My biggest gripe with the ride is the harshness over broken bitumen. I thought our previous car (a 2010 Hybrid Camry Luxury) had a more compliant ride and handled broken bitumen better (and without any clatter) The North West of Tassie has fairly good road surfaces thankfully... Overall still very happy with the car but do wonder why they didn't pick this up while tuning things...
  3. Welcome Steve, Would be nice but not cheap. Had mates do it in other brands and no change out of $2500 :-( You should try some Googling and see what prices come up ;-)
  4. It is for descending very steep hills to save constantly applying the brake. It seems to sort of change the gearing so the car doesn't try and run away. On less steep hills the regenerative brakes in the new model seem to hold the speed pretty well if you set the cruise, so don't seem to need the B setting as much as we did in our MY10 Hybrid;-)
  5. For that price they should do the rear window and 4 side windows that is the norm (top of windscreen if they will do it would be extra) $345 is a good rate for tint-a-car ...They are normally $460 down here but I got mates rates of $395 (which matched Extreem Window Tinting,,,
  6. Don't know how black would look? (these should fit and only A$28 delivered) http://www.ebay.com....ht_13714wt_1016 or these for just over $100 delivered (genuine Toyota but no mention of a colour choice??) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-Camry-2012-Splash-Mud-Guards-OEM-NEW-/140790582307?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2012%7CMake%3AToyota%7CModel%3ACamry&hash=item20c7c5cc23&_uhb=1#ht_500wt_1054
  7. You could try Global ebay (from USA) But not sure if they have wildfire colour over there + freight can be a killer from the USA.. Be aware they might have a slight effect on your economy (effect the aerodynamics) Because of that and the price I haven't bothered so far..
  8. Sorry I got confused (thought you were the one getting a silver H) I'm sure it will look fine with Wildfire.. Look forward to some photos ;-)
  9. I got Octane looks good with Magnetic Bronze think it would Look good with Silver too... Haven't seen Formula 1
  10. The silver is a nice silver I've seen a few 2012 Altise and higher model non Hybrids around and half wish i'd gone with it although getting some nice comments on our Magnetic Bronze car... I'm happy enough with the quality of the touch screen audio in the H. I'll have to post some pix now it is all finished. Tint, spoiler, rear sensors, Fog lights from the USA, Hybrid Decals and Slimline weathershields + Stainless sill plates, dashmat and Neoprene seat covers :-))
  11. I don't think you'll regret it Rob, the new model has won 4 awards in Australia now since Feb (they are a great car) Mind you the V40R wasn't bad either and I get a bit peeved when I hear negative stuff about them. My old V40R Luxury is being driven by the Finance Manager at our local Toyota Dealership and as they didn't have a V50R demo handy they lent it to a potential customer for a day or two and it impressed him enough to order a new HL :-) What colour are you getting? Mine gets its final mod fitteed today (slimline weathershields that were on backorder) Have fun in your new car (I'm loving mine, done over 5,500 kms in just over 2 months and I only live 7Kms from my work... Cant help finding excuses to go for a drive) Cheers Dazz
  12. 6 is good with the eco button off (I'm averaging 5.8 over 4500kms since new) I am used to driving with the eco button on (still climbs hills with ease and easy passing too ) I guess you would get used to it in eco mode but saving 30 cents per 100 km i would rather the extra power, but thats just me. With me driving and in different environment conditions, not sure how much difference the eco button makes (but $3 a tank sounds realistic) For my next tank I might try with the eco button off, but after 3 or 4 years of driving for economy it maybe a hard habit to break LOL Yeah it depends what your used to, i stepped out of a fg xr6 turbo into this, so going from 12 to 13L/100km to 6 i am pretty happy. My last two cars were a 2010 Hybrid (6.3 LPH) and a 2008 Hyundai i30 Diesel (5.4 LPH) ... I can see why you are happy :-)

  15. The 2012 Hybrid Camry H has just won the award for the best Medium Sized Car under A$50,000 from "Australia's Best Cars" Click on "Full details" then on the links for the Comparison Table, Video Etc... http://www.australiasbestcars.com.au/2012/default.htm
  16. Fairly impressed with the Michelin Primacy LC tyres they have put on the 2012 Hybrid H model.. (they would fit the 2010/11 Hybrid as well) Check out the rating below... and looks like they may be available from $160 each http://www.productreview.com.au/p/michelin-primacy-lc.html
  17. Hi, as previously mentioned, I recently upgraded from a 2010 to a 2012 Hybrid Camry. One of the big improvements I have noticed is the way the new model uses the regenerative braking to help maintain a set cruise when going down hills with the cruise on. It still struggles down really steep hills to maintain a set speed, but light years ahead of our 2010 model in that regard. With the low rolling resistance tyres our previous Hybrid would continue to increase speed down hills with the cruise set. Without touching the brakes 105Kph was soon say 120kph or more (nice recipe for a speeding fine) and one of the few things I didn't like about our 2010 model! I would still have preferred the cruise control buttons to be on the (ugly) new steering wheel though, like they are on our 2nd car (a 2010 Hyundai i30 CW) rather than a stalk behind the wheel as in the previous model.
  18. Thanks David :-) Did over 700 kms on the weekend, hills and headwinds sure push the fuel use up on the highway but she liked cruising around Hobart which offset this a bit.. A lot of our highway is 110Kph limit which I tend to "use" so I suppose the fact the overall average for the 2200 kms we have now travelled has sneaked up to 5.8 LPH is not so bad (One tank E10 / one tank 91 unleaded)
  19. Hi David, Yes, like you say it is ironic that they put lower profile tyres on the more luxury model. Generally the ride is quiet and comfortable but the H on 16" Michelins tends to shudder a bit if you hit a broken up patch of bitumen, where the 2010 Hybrid luxury on 16" Dunlop 300e Tyres didn't :-/ So I think their suspension tuning was not all that good.. That minor fault with the ride and the ugly steering wheel buttons (the 2010 model had a nicer steering wheel) are probably the biggest criticisms I have with the latest generation car. They have improved it in a lot of other areas though. I wasn't overly taken with stitched dashboard which is a bit of a "dodge podge" but that looks better with dash mat in my opinion. I also found the styling of the H a bit bland but now I have a spoiler on it plus driving lights, Hybrid decals and tinted windows think it looks pretty schmick :-) and here is my distance to empty reading :-)
  20. on the 2010 model there is an eco button on the right side of the dash behind the steering wheel, but that is only to limit the effect of the air con and doesn't effect the engine performance. The 2012 has an eco mode (and an EV button as well) in the centre console just in front of the gear selector. The eco mode tones down the performance to just a little better than my 2010 model, but seems to give me about .6 LPH better economy average (than the 2010 Hybrid) A couple of short tests would suggest if you drove with eco mode off (which feels real zippy :-) ) you would probably lose the better economy that the 2012 has over the previous generation :-( The EV button sort of locks the car into electric only mode but only until you put your foot down a bit (exceed say 50Kph) or the battery gets depleted (it is ok if you are just ticking along around the CBD or moving around a large car park looking for a spot or something though.
  21. Hi Radio, I am running 34 PSI in the tyres which seems a good compromise between economy and ride .. The Michelins on the H must have stiffer sidewalls than the Dunlops and Goodyears I ran my previous 2010 Hybrid Luxury as I feel the rough roads more. Not sure about the Bridgestones? on your HL. I have experimented with the EV button.. I think it is a bit of a gimic as it will switch to EV by itself at under say 50kph on flat ground if the battery has reasonable charge. Probably the only time I will use it is cruising around multi level car parks or moving from one part of the CBD to another. I would like to enjoy the full power all the time (eg having ECO turned off) but from a few short experiments, it does push the fuel use up especially if you are a "racer" ;-) The eco button does take the edge off the performance but still acceptable for me and when mine sits on 5.7 average then I reap the benefit of the compromise at the pumps My 2010 Hybrid seemed to like E10 so it probably ended up with that every 2nd fill. I have just put some E10 in the new H but haven't driven enough with it yet to see if any performance or economy difference to the 91 I topped up with earlier. I don't believe the e10 adversely effected my economy in the 2010 model and if anything made her feel a bit zippier? Due to work and other commitments I am expecting to do at least 3000kms in the next 4 weeks so will have a better idea after that.
  22. "Cough, send them in cough cough".. Don't think they would spend the $$$ sorry.. They are currently negotiating on a 2005 Holden Rodeo Dual Cab as a 2nd vehicle .. but they were impressed with the Hybrid :-)
  23. What tire pressures are you running, what fuel are you using? Do you live in a hilly part of Victoria? are you doing mainly City or Country miles? I gently get up to speed then feather the accelerator to keep it there. Don't have to make a concious effort now. Seem to have developed a knack to keeping it in EV mode for extended periods and getting it to stop completely at most intersections etc..
  24. I've done about 1300 kms in my 2012 Hybrid H now and when I filled to the brim came up with 1108Km to empty :-)) BTW I wouldn't brim if I wasn't doing a good drive straight away. Indicated average at this stage is 5.7 LPH (which fits with my manual calculations) Roughly 50/50 City/rural driving ... Previous 2010 Hybrid mostly sat around the 6.3 LPH mark under the same conditions (used to get around 900 Kms out of a tank with best of about 940) Looks like cracking the 1000km will be easy with the 2012 one (it is really handy having a range like that) B)
  25. Thanks for the update, Have had our H for 3 weeks now but was away for one of those in Victoria driving an identical rental car so only done about 1100kms. Haven't reset the average economy for the last 600kms (since last fill) and it has settled on 5.7 LPH. Trip computer said 1108 Kilometres to empty when I filled her up, which is great :-) Drove with eco button on all over Victoria in the renter and got 5.67 (calculated) over the 2145 Kms travelled so haven't been game to turn it off on ours except for a few "tests" LOL Liked our previous 2010 Hybrid Luxury a lot but new model is awesome .. let a mate have a little drive today and he raved so much his wife had to have a little drive too :-))
