  1. Hi Clayton, How has it been going? are you happy with it? We were generally very happy with our 2010 Hybrid Luxury which had 57,000 on it after 2 years .. traded at the end of September on a 2012 Model :-)
  2. One other thing, wet roads seem to push the fuel useage up a bit with the low rolling resistance tyres. I have noticed on both Hybrids my economy figure sneaks up by about .2 LPH if I drive around on wet roads for a day or two.. I assume the tyres are designed to stick to the wet roads more for safety. The car doesn't roll as freely on flat and down hill sections when the roads are wet so that supports my theory also.
  3. I got into good habits with our previous car a 2008 i30 SLX Diesel Manual Hatch.. That had heaps of Torque (255NM) for a 1.6 Ltr motor and I found i often needed a lot less throttle to maintain a consistent speed. The Hybrids are a bit the same. Fuel saving is a bit addictive. Like I've said elsewhere I tend to stick to the limits in the case of our 1st Hybrid (2010 model) the speedo was 7 or 8 kms pessimistic so 110 by the GPS was about 117 Kph by the speedo. but still got pleasing economy(The 2012 is more accurate)... . On flattish roads I use the cruise but on Hilly stuff i don't as it accelerates a lot more aggressively than it needs to. There are about 6 ways I can go to and from my work (only 7 Kms away) but I have worked out a couple of them are more economical than others so usually go those ways. I don't drive slow I just drive smart. Some people don't like the stop start engine thing (I love it) I think it's great that when you get pulled up by lights or road works all the other cars are using fuel and mostly the Hybrid is not. Not sure where you live but hills and colder weather push the fuel use up as bit ..You seem to use more going up a hill than you save going down the other side. Cold weather, under 10 degrees C, the stop start doesn't seem to operate as much (particularly until the engine gets fully warm. Between lights try an anticipate and slow down and speed up gradually. I like the power when overtaking so can sometimes opt to give her a blast (but once in a while doesn't seem to hurt the economy too much...) Hope that helps a bit and makes sense .. You just have to get into good habits (I treat it as a bit of a game) Oh and I usually leave it in the mode where you can see it go up and down.
  4. We just traded our 2010 Hybrid Luxury on the 2012 Model :-) We used to average an indicated 6.3 in the summer and 6.5 in the winter (down here in Tassie with our 110KPH speed limits on the highways. Did around 5000 Km trip on the mainland in March this year and got an indicated 6.1 average (flatter and only 100km speed limits in most places) I just used to accelerate gently up the the posted speed limits (using my GPS Speedo) and then back off when I got there using the the electric motor to help keep the momentum) Anticipate lights and stuff like that .. Economy indicator is pretty good teacher .. Good luck with it (great car) that is why We bought another :-)
  5. That is a bit of a worry (hope it never happend to me) Had a 12/09 Camry Hybrid Luxury in which I did over 50,000 kms in 2 years without incident .. just traded it last Friday on a 2012 Camry Hybrid H. They are certainly a great car. I do wish mechanics could do more than just look for fault codes these days (seems to be the standard excuse) :-(
  6. I realize I am a bit late on this topic but just for the record we got nearly 50K out of our first set of Dunlops (No balance or alignment issues rotated every 15K) and replaced with Goodyear Excellence which are very similar in quietness, ride etc...
  7. Hi, I haven't been on for ages.. I have just traded our 12/09 build MY10 Camry Hybrid Luxury for a new 2012 Camry Hybrid H (which we hope to pick up on Friday 28th September (2 more sleeps) :-) Have been very happy with our existing car (no warranty issues in nearly 60,000 kms) Averaging 6.3 Lph in warmer months and 6.5/6.6 in the winter (wet roads and colder temperatures make a noticeable difference) Running it down to O km cruising left can just squeeze 900kms out of a tank.. Hoping to make the magic 1000 out of the 2012 model. Getting excited now as the power of the 2012 Hybrid is awesome. Got Rear Spolier and rear parking sensors + Syle visors and stuff thrown in with the deal and will be adding Driving/fog lights from America via Ebay + Neoprene seat covers and a few other goodies (trying to get it closer to the spec of our existing Luxury) wasn't prepared to fork out the extra for a HL P.S. Did 5000km Trip from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast and back over 2 weeks in March this year and got a displayed average of 6.1 (only used about $440 worth of fuel) The Hybrid went flawlessly .. they are a very much underrated vehicle
  8. I think I might be the person that Adamsy was talking about who used to have the i30 Diesel I was actually averaging 5.4-5.5 LPH in the i30 but it was a manual and obviously quite a bit smaller and lighter than the Hybrid. The average economy of our Hybrid has crept up to 6.5 over the winter but the i30 was thirtier in the winter than it was in the summer too... I got in the habit of driving economically with the CRDi and work pretty hard to keep the Hybrid running on electric where ever the opportunity arises. I reckon I could get down to 6.0 in flater places..like South Australia where many drivers get better than 5.0 in the Diesel i30's Still very happy with most aspects of the the Hybrid (and the excellent local Toyota dealer) ;-)
  9. I am from Northern Tasmania and we bought a low mileage Camry Hybrid Luxury Demo about 12 months ago.. Really enjoying the quietness and economy (generally more than happy with most aspects of the car and the excellent local Toyota Dealership) Cheers, Dazz
