  1. Not that this will help but I got the INA W900 unit and from what I have seen you will probably need to buy a new camera
  2. I have now got just over 150k's on mine and still no real problems with it. Besides the dash rattles which dont really bother me, I have not had a problem with it. I brought the factory extended warranty (Extra Care) when it covered everything and it has been pritty handy for things like shock, which on aussie built toyotas have never been the best. The only real problem I have had with mine is that it just recently got diagnosed with piston slap, but it is not major. The car does just over 1000k's a week and still going strong
  3. Depending on the head unit(I bought a Alpine unit) u can buy a steering wheel interface module which wires into the steering wheel harness and allows you to program the factory buttons into an aftermarket unit. the one in my car works really well ill beit sometimes a bit slow but it works by modifying the signal of the button pushed to something the aftermarket unit can read. I paid about $180 for the unit and its been really good
  4. I bought some remotes for caterbury toyota for my MCV36 and the service dept programs them for free or thats what they did for me anyways.
  5. I get that same rotten egg gas smell in MY 12/07 ZR6 but mine is as stock as a rock, only recently got magnaflow mufflers and that seemed to have got rid of the smell. I have had a chat wit a mate of mine who is a forman at toyota, he mentioned that as I dont drive my car really hard it could just be a fuel thing and the car doesnt get a flogging so no real clean out or flush
  6. I bought an Alpine INA-W900E GPS double din head unit, with a genuine surround, spacers and also bought the steering wheel interface module (so I can still use my factory steering wheel controls on an aftermarket headunit). Cost me about $2000 but it is a very good headunit. good sound very accurate GPS guidance but does have a few small problems but you will not find an aftermarket unit that is perfect. I had a look at pioneer, kenwood and JVC units but didnt have the same speed and accuracy as the alpine one. I drive through tunnels and the GPS still works and it does also highlight whether you are underground or not. My 2 cents if it helps
  7. I am going through a muffler swap at the moment and am looking into some magnaflow mufflers. discussed it with the exhaust shop and he doesnt believe there will be any power gains and that replacing the rest of the pipe is a waste of money as it doesnt need it.
  8. Mine has 97,000kms on it and runs like a dream.............. no troubles at all
  9. woodworm, on 31 December 2010 - 07:49 AM, said: it looks like we will have to embrase and enjoy the jiggles as they said they couldn't really improve it. The shocks check out OK and apparently never give any trouble anyway and there isn't much else it could be. I might try a different brand of tyre next time as that is the only option left. I commented that we thought the ride should be similar to a commodore but according to Toyota, the Aurion has a firmer ride as the springs have been beefed up (from those in the Camry) to accommodate the V6. Hello woodworm, I was glad to see that there are other people that find this ride not satisfactory. I was certainly disappointed with mine AT-X in this regard, and was surprised that none of the reviews I have read before buying the car mentioned it (then again, it appears most people do not mind this sort of thing). I am referring to that peculiar vibrating jiggle, that is induced by driving over minor imperfections on the road. I do NOT mean bouncy in a "soft" suspension sense, when you expect slow swinging/swaying motions. It is quite harsh vibration, may by three-four impulses a second, that comes through the seat and jiggles all my soft bits :-) I find it annoying. If you found any way how to fix it, please let me know. Regards. I have the same problem in my ZR6 ............ Caused by some silly driving resulting in flatspots on the tyres :P
  10. Hey I am looking into an LPG direct injection kit for my Aurion and would like to know if anyone has installed them on their cars, and what they think, pros or cons. I want it because I do over 1500kms a week and stop at servos approx every two days or so and would like to extend my fuel capacity. I have been quoted about $3800 to $3900 and the govt rebate is about $1200 and this kit has a moulded fuel tank which will fit nicely into the space behind the rear seat with a 60ltr usable fuel capacity (80 ltrs total). I have spoken to a mate who is a workshop forman for a toyota dealership and he has said that they dont get any in with LPG and is doesnt have too much info on them but did mention that it would not be a problem for my car. Any sort of feedback on these kits would be appreciated Thanks
  11. I usually fill up every 2 days and usually get 550kms at 1/4 tank mark and I usually do 120kms freeway and 130 kms city a day I have tried the E10 a few times but only ever manage 450km out of a tank. Now I just stick to 98, Usually shell or BP more for comfort than anything else my 2 cents anyways
  12. If I heard that advice, I'd be questioning the quality of advice I'd be getting from that person. From my own experience, I have not found the Varex to cause any loss in power or an increase in fuel consumption. I had a pair fitted in March 2009 (see "DJKOR's Aurion" & "GOT MY VAREX =]") and considering that afterwards I had remained just as heavy-footed... or increased... my fuel consumption figures did not go bad. If anything, they probably improvedd slightly, but that could have been many other factors. Anyways, you can see my fuel consumption trends here: Aurion Fuel Consumption (Excel Spreadsheet) My quarter mile times weren't affected as well. Actually I had one of my best runs with said aftermarket exhaust fitted (see here) but once again, there could have been a number of other factors at play. As for when the Varex is closed, I can't quite say. I rarely ever closed mine and after seeing how much of a restriction it cam be when closed, I never really liked the idea. Personally, I would suggest to save your money and just get a pair of good quality high-flow mufflers. The Varex are pretty much a gimmick. Yeah His advice did seem a bit weird hence why I resorted to the internet. The only reason why I give this particular person some weight is because he has done some work for me on two of my previous cars and is a genius, does brilliant work. I like the idea of what the varex muffles do and am still considering junking the whole exhaust system and going down the custom road. Thanks for the feedback
  13. Hey All First of all I would just like to introduce myself. My name is Daniel and I Have a 07 Sportivo ZR6. This is only my second post (first being in the new members page)and have found this site very useful in answering alot of questions about common problems on cars. I would like to apologise in advance if this question has been asked before but there are alot of Threads and I havent been able to read them all. My problem is that one of my mufflers have rusted through in the spotwelds on the muffler and is leaking. I have tried to claim it under the extra care warranty but with no success. This was not much of a problem and gave me a reason to change and upgrade the exhaust. I have spoken to a exhaust bloke here in sydney about the XForce Varex mufflers and was given the following advice about their application on the aurions. I was advised that they were not suitable for a duel exhaust application due to weight (Apparently over 10kgs each muffler) and that with the Aurions, the aftermarket exhausts cause too much loss of backpressure and loss of torque down low. He also advised me that the Aurions have stainless steel exhausts and that it should not have rusted in the first place. I am aware that when you make changes to exhausts or any other type of performance modification that you run the risk of changing the performance levels of the vehicle, either good or bad and am looking for feedback from anyone who has either just the mufflers,or the whole exhaust done, and what they think of it before I go out and have it done. I would like to know if their was much of a loss down low and especially since alot of my driving is on the freeways (approx 1500kms a week) whether or not there is a bad droning sound. I would like a nice exhaust note as long as it doesnt give me a headache at the end of the trip and any bit of performance improvement would be a bonus Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  14. Hey my name is Daniel. I have been visiting this forum for a while and have found it useful when looking for information on some of the cars I have owned. I have got a Aurion suportivo ZR6 and a AE101 corolla hatch. At the moment I am looking into some small mods for my Aurion and have had some good ideas from this forum.
