  1. Had you have searched, you would have found one thread which clearly states something you may find in the thread: http://au.toyotaowne...cs/page__st__30 http://au.toyotaowne...cs/page__st__45 Interesting, the caster specs posted by David the Viking are quite different to mine, although the camber specs are very similar. I wonder if this will be looked at at all when Toyota releases the 50 series Aurion? "When"? Have you been living under a rock? I daresay being its all new bits in 50 series (isn't it?), this issue wouldn't/shouldn't carry over. Haha I actually saw 2 Sportivos on the weekend. Yeah, imma stick with my 40 series...

  3. It'd be great if we could get 1 or 2 more people to post up alignment specs like in the first post just to get a second opinion on the specs. Just to put to bed once and for all how slight or severe it is off, hence what kit needs to be bought.
  4. At least I don't have to worry about sitting there drooling over images of the new model until I eventually blow my savings on one. The Sportivo especially look horrid! IMO the 40 series and even facelift models were a very classy, subtle yet mean looking car, but this is just hurting my eyes... The specs list would be the only incentive to upgrade as its very very comprehensive for the price. But to me looks are just as important and they've really failed in that department.

  6. Where'd you get them from? I got a quote for RE002s and they were over $300 a corner for the same size you've said there I think. I just ended up with a set of Yoko S.Drives from the states, $126 a corner :)
  7. Awesome make keep us posted :) It's an issue because you have to force the car straight buy constantly holding the wheel slightly right of centre. I don't think it's a major problem, just as a bit of an annoyance to some of us. Exactly as above, its not a major issue just an annoyance. Plus because I always have to have my steering wheel slightly turned right I can't read the LH indicator stalk because the spoke gets in the way which can get annoying. On a Sportivo 3 spoke wheel.
  8. Thats a good price! Thanks for contributing the info. Have you noticed the car is any better or haven't had a chance to have them installed yet?
  9. You do realise that ~2/3rds of the Camrys and Aurions made at Altona are LHD and exported overseas, mostly to the Middle East...... So maybe my mechanic was right after all haha.
  10. Hey mate, I'm currently looking into getting the issue fixed. As per other posts there is a Fulcrum/Superpro kit that has been claimed to fix the issue. You can find that here: http://www.superpro.com.au/find-superpro-parts-for-my-vehicle/part?id=SPF2904K. I just rang up the nearest distributor to me and they quoted me $235.50 for the kit. So not too expensive IMO. If you take your car to any reputable suspension place they should be able to fit them no worries. I know of a few around my area but I doubt that will help you... As for the issue with tyre road noise by the time I got my car the tyres were due to be replaced, I can comment now and there is very little road noise running Yokohoma S.Drive's. Haha yes I'm aware of that. When my mechanic said that I thought about sharing that info with him but didn't think it'd be useful :P. I only wrote that in the first post to try and explain 'what' the issue is if you know what I mean. I actually work in Lambton mate so just down the road from Gateshead! Might give those guys a go if I end up going ahead with it. I used to take my car to Bowers Suspension in Merewether. Back a year or so ago I had a Supra and they fully redid the suspension, new urethane bushes all round, new shocks etc and they did a fantastic job. But more lately I took my Aurion there for a wheel alignment (to try and get rid of this pesky left pull :P) and they did a pretty shoddy job. When my mechanic checked it out he said they alignment was way off. The toe in on one of the rear wheels was 8mm off! Maybe it was just a bad staff member there I dunno :P I didn't approach them for a refund just took it on the chin.
  11. Hi all, After many times to different suspension places / mechanics and a lot of wasted $$$ I finally have a report that explains why the Aurion by itself pulls left which is unable to be rectified with a simple wheel alignment. Below are the results: _______________RH SIDE:______LH SIDE: Caster:____________3___________2.5 Camber:__________ 1.4___________1 The mechanic I took the car to tried to explain it as if the suspension geometry from factory is set up for a LHD car (whether or not this is true is another thing). Because of the camber of the road, the suspension of every car is set up to counter this slightly, so the cars don't pull left. With the Aurion however its as if the suspension is setup in a way so that instead of countering the effects of the camber in the road, it increases it. Fortunately of course there are things that can be done to fix the issue. Fulcrum/Superpro sells a suspension bushing kit you can buy so that this can be adjusted out of the suspension which supposedly fixes the problem. LINK. I just rang up the nearest distributor to me and they sell the kit for $235.50. Just thought I'd share this info with you guys anyway, hope it answers the question for somebody.
  12. Received and installed mine yesterday, cheers Steven!
  13. Varex exhausts are illegal p plater or not. AFAIK aftermarket exhausts are legal under the p plate laws as long as they comply with the law limit of 90db. This is in NSW anyway.
  14. Awesome thanks heaps. Great helpful post there :), and agreed props to Steven!
  15. So since I was a complete noob and only sent my address yesterday when will mine be shipped? :P
  16. 6 have been sold in this current group buy. If you're desperate for one I can organise one at the discounted rate for today ONLY if you choose to pay via paypal, but you need to be quick smart in PMing your interest. Haha I think you misunderstand, I've already bought one and sent you payment ;)
  17. Seeing as its the 25th how many payments have we got? So over my current unit.
  18. I think 30k is a pretty realistic figure haha. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to discourage you, I've thought about the same thing but I get scared thinking about all the problems you'd inevitably run into... But by all means go for it! You'd have such an envious car in the end :) Oh and on the subject of motors, don't go 1JZ-GTE, trust me. They were a good engine at the time but with the technology of modern motors it'd be such a step back IMO. But if huge power and potential is what you're after a 2JZ-GTE would be a better bet, albeit more expensive. Personally I'd choose a 2GR-FSE/2GR-FZE or for something really different a 3UZ-FE out of a late model Toyota/Lexus.
  19. Wooo we've got our 5 :D I was starting to worry there haha.
  20. I've thought about it before but its just not possible IMO. The 2GR-FE is designed to be used east-west to start with. You'd need a completely new subframe up front that would be able to mount the 2GR-FSE north-south and also that fits an Aurion... Also, I haven't extensively looked at an Aurion on a hoist but I'm sure you'd have to cut a tunnel out for the tranny and driveline, I can't imagine Toyota leaving enough room if the platform was only ever intended to do be FWD. Then you'd need a completely different rear subframe to mount the diff to etc, and whether that will fit around the fuel tank and all the other existing components is anybodys guess. Then you'd need rear wheel bearings that will take a CV axle. Thats just the problems I can think of off the top of my head, if you tried to do this conversion you'd just run into headache after headache :P
  21. Could you please quote where you got the 6kW higher than the Aurion from? Just curious as everything I've read seems to quote 203kW... which being Lexus, is probably based on premium unleaded only. The Aurion on the other hand is 200kW on regular unleaded and this is bumped up to 204kW with the use of premium. Nope, you're right it is 203. I was going from memory and turns out mines hopeless haha.
  22. Much much easier to buy a manual straight up. Theres so much info around the net but jeffy is right about the SZR model. I could sit here for hours and type out your options but I'll do my best to consolidate the info :P Basically you've got pre facelift and post facelift and the models changed at that point. 1993-1996.5 - Series 1 or S1 1996.5 on - Series 2 or S2 (facelift introduced many many aesthetic changes as well as changes to the models etc) Now theres the non turbo models and turbo models. Since listing everything about the turbo models will just confuse you since you're only looking at NA Supras I'll stick with non turbo models. S1 SZ - 'Ghetto' spec. Small brakes, open diff (A01A), auto gearbox (A340E) or manual gearbox (W58). Everything an option... S2 SZ - Basic spec. Small brakes, open diff (A01A, A02B LSD optional), auto gearbox (A340E) or manual gearbox (W58) S2 SZR - Top spec. Big brakes, LSD (A02B), 6spd manual (V161). All the gear from the twin turbo model, converting to turbo is a straight drop in ;) From experience you're better off saving up 15 grand or so and getting an S2 SZR. So many S1 SZ models are just falling apart just from getting trashed and not cared for etc. Trust me on this, get and SZR and have the best of the best on your car from factory that will take all you can throw at it, or get an S1 SZ and spend the leftover money fixing all the oil leaks (and all it takes to break a 5spd is a stern look and a few nasty words, seriously they're weak as.) Converting is possible but very difficult. I converted an auto to 6spd myself and the gearbox alone costs 3-4 grand alone and its a serious undertaking. Do yourself a favor, stick with an SZR :)
  23. I could take a quick look if you liked. I've owned 3 Supras in the past and fixed many an oil leak on my own haha. Where abouts in Newcastle are you? I take my car to Medowie Car Care I know a mechanic there and the owner, only mechanic in Newcastle I'd trust although they're not familiar with imports.
  24. Power output is 6kw higher for these no? You're right its unlikely to be the exhaust though...
  25. Can't say for sure but don't really see why not. It uses the Camry platform (like the Aurion), and has an east-west mounted FWD 2GR-FE.
