  1. I'll be there a bit after 7-ish... Will need to leave early, that's why.
  2. I was there last Thursday night and met some of you. Kirius, I left for home around the time you headed off to meet the others so I missed you. I didn't mean to cause any offence to other Toyota owners; don't get me wrong - the other cars there looked great, but I thought that other Celica owners would be the best people to advise me about specific Celica-related things to look out for (and also where are the reputable places to get parts and where can I find reputable mechanics who really know Celicas and wouldn't steer me in the wrong direction with them?) I had some bad runs before with some mechanics who have tried to disable things on my cars before and then try to offer me peanuts for it, and I know nothing about cars so I'm an easy target. I just hoped that some Celica-savvy people might tell me what to look out for. I have no interest in turning it into a street-machine; I just want to get it back to full-running condition and intend to keep it for years to come... I certainly wasn't trying to project an "Us vs. Them" attitude! :-) Kirius, I might catch you at another meet maybe? definately ^_^ i will be there this thurs, ill be earlier though now that i know where im going.. (blames HTC) once again i quote: "(mick who has owned like almost every model in every gen-currently owns a sexus :D,) and Trent who runs the same motor but in a camry(well did before it became a 5sge) both these guys are encyclopedias on celicas and im sure we can help you with any prob you have. (yay finally another st184, im excited, LOL) " just to stroke trents ego :D haha. Yeah ghost i know exactly what your talking about too i have been had recently by the dodgiest mech ever, but thanks to mick and trent, i now know the best registered mechanic around(except them of course but theyre not mechs by public trade), if you have probs you need only find Johno. :D I'll try to get there early this Thurs around 7pm if you and anyone else will be there around that time; I have to go to bed early that night - early start on Friday morning! If I may ask, what car problems did you have that your mechanic (I'm guessing that's "johno") fixed for you? Can you tell me where he is based and what he charged you for the work done (if you don't mind me asking). Thanks!

  4. Hi All, I'm a month-old new owner of a ST184R 1992 Celica, and recently joined this site. I'm wondering, besides "cruises" arranged monthly (as there seemed to be one last Sun 2nd October), do any Celica owners in Brisbane meet up weekly anywhere? I know little about cars, but am interested in meeting fellow Celica owners whose vehicles are around mine's vintage. Hopefully, I can learn a few things and get a few tips on how to look after my new baby. I'm not interested in doing it up with all sorts of modifications; just restoring it to full working order gradually when I can. (It is very much driveable still though!) Kind regards to all, Ghost 5.

    My Celica SX - ST184R (1992)

Celica SX (ST184R) 1992 model. Purchased for $4990 (AU) with 175033 Km's on it. Needed a little bit of repair after purchase, but drives okay and is in generally good condition for a car it's age.
  6. Hi, just had my Celica baby for just over 3 weeks now... and loving it! Ok, here's my scenario and questions: When I start the car in the morning and drive off, there is a low (whoomp, whoomp, whoomp). It sounded like a flat tyre at first with the windows up but it wasn't. Secondly, when on the freeway at around 80kph or more, when I press on the brake there is a judder on the brake pedal (I don't think from memory that it can be felt in the steering wheel). I read online somewhere that this might indicate the rear discs - it this true? Is it cheaper to just replace the rear discs and brake pads than try to get them machined...? What are the Celica experts thoughts here...? Many thanks if you can help!
  7. Oops! Had posted a car question here. Now moved to the car forum!
  8. Hi All, just introducing myself as a new registration to this site. Glad there is a Toyota Club in Brissy! I have had my 1992 Celica SX (ST184R) for just over 3 weeks now; it's always been my dream car. I sold my 2002 Corolla Ascent Seca just last Friday (it had more K's on it than the Celica!). The Celica is fantastic to drive - I feel like a big kid... :-) I don't know much about cars, but in the first week of owning it I had secured 2 owners manuals and a Hayes repair manual for it. These helped with getting the AC compressor fixed (a faulty gasket - which a AC mechanic replaced and regassed it for me), the headlights fitted with Xenon bulbs, a parking bulb changed, a front plastic bar thingy above the front bumper changed, the spoiler and licence plate reflective glass surround replaced, and I even figured out how to strip (and sort of clean) the car antenna so it's working now! A local mechanic replaced 2 engine mounts and gave it a general tightening of bolts in various areas. It still needs a little mechanical work, so hopefully there might be some other Celica 5th gen owners here who might be in the know and can give me some tips on what to look for or who to see to get things fixed that's honest and reliable. Why the name "Ghost 5" ? Well, it's always hard thinking of a name on sites so I chose this one because my Celica is white (like a ghost) and it's a 5th generation... Anyway, Hi everybody! I might pop out to one of the Thursday meets in Brissy and meet some other members! Do they still meet every week - if not, when is the next one?
