  1. nek - thats for the tip. that is very good info. i have read the tread - very interesting might i add. it explains why the car also felt different after a reconnection of the battery (ECU reset). learn something new every day! i will try tonight re: the power windows when i get home from work. ta hanzo
  2. Yea it appears that way. After the mod, the drivers side passenger window controls dont work anymore. I did notice that once the battery was disconnected and reconnected, the 'auto' function on the windows do not work for about 12 hours. The small green light on the window button flashes when the ignition is turned on. I guess the 'auto' function uses a mini battery/capacity to hold charge maybe. Once the charge is full (after about 12 hours), the small green light stops flashing. I am going to leave this for a few days and see if it resolves itself (my battery theory). I have a service manual for the 2004 model but the electrics and schematics dont make sense to me.... I need to dig up the latest service manual (Corolla.iso).. I downloaded from a link a while back but just need to find it.... ta hanzo
  3. I have a problem with the driver side power window controls for the passenger windows (the driver window works fine). The lights come on when I switch the ignition but the buttons do not work. Yesterday I installed an ipod adapter which involved taking out the center console. I rechecked all the cables I removed, and I am sure they all have been replugged in. Does anyone know what I could check to make sure the driver side power window controls are working properly? ta hanzo
  4. OK. I just installed the ipod adapter and all I can say is that I am very pleased with it. With my ipod pluged in, I hit DISC twice and it plays from the ipod. I press the TEXT button and it displays the song title etc.. Up/Down arrows for next/prev tracks... It took me about 2 hours to install. The hardest part was getting one of the sockets off from the center console. I drilled a hole in the corner of the center console compartment to run the ipod cable thru. The Neo box is secured on the inside of the right of the passenger panel. Make sure you know your stereo security code before you do this cause once you disconnect your battery, you need the sec code (PIN) to re-enable the stereo. I got in a bit of trouble cause my sec code did not work! I had not changed my sec code when I purchased the car and found the letter from Toyota tell me what the default sec code was. Well, it didnt work for me!! And no I did not change the code. I called Toyota and they said they cannot do anything and have to wait till monday for their service dept to open. I then remembered I read somewhere to try the last 3 digits of your VIN. I tried it and it worked!!! Also make sure you have a long enough rachet cause 2 bolts for the stereo are way in their. To get the center console out, you will need to put it into Neutral otherwise it wont come out. This Neo box is quite expensive (especially shipping) but I am happy with the results. So now I can play my ipod or wifes/mates ipods and also have a spare AUX in as well if needed in the future.
  5. I received delivery of a Neo Prolink unit (http://www.neocaraudio.com/products/ipod.php) today for my Corolla 2006. This is one of those units which lets me hook up my ipod to the stock OEM HU. I have not yet set a security code on my stock Radio/CD unit and before the install, I will need to disconnect my battery. My question is, when I re-connect the battery after the install, will my stock radio/CD unit continue to work (as there is no security code set) or does it reset to some default code - something like 0000 or the last few digits of my chassis number? I have not yet looked behind my Radio/CD unit and wondering is their space behind to mount a small box (5cm x 7cm). Would velcro be sufficient for the mount? I am a newbie to custom car audio installs so pls bear with me. Roughly how much will a car shop charge for an install like this, if I don’t want to go with the hassel of DIY. I would like to do it myself cause I read it is not all that difficult and should only take an hour or so. Ta hanzo
  6. Anyone have any experience with Trueseal car care products? They are based out of Melbourne. I received a free bottle of wash/wax (Tru-Kleen) and paint protection reviver (Tru-Renew) with my new Levin.
  7. Just purchased a Corolla Levin 06. Need to look for a decent car wash and have heard horror stories about Crystal car wash in Chatswood. Does anyone know or recommend any decent place. There is a place up in St Ives but its kinda far from where I live. I would wash/wax the car myself but the apartment block which I live in does not have car washing facilities in the car park.
  8. Hello everyone, I am scheduled to pick up my new Levin next week and researching on how to mount a TomTom SatNav. I am looking at a TTOne or a TT Go 710/910. I do not like the windscreen mounting which comes with the TT as I have heard there are loads of problems (marks on screen, falls off, drooping etc..) and from a security perspective theives would know I have a satnav in the car and be tempted to steal it. I saw there is a TT One mounting kit from a company in the UK which sells a mount either active (with power) and passive (without power) which sits over one of the air-con/fan ducts. Has anyone had an experience with this mount and is it easy to remove and setup. I am looking for a solution in which is easy to setup/remove. Has anyone used a TT Go 710/910 in a Corolla '06? These units are slightly bigger/deeper/heavier than the TT One. I am considering getting one, but the mounting issue is making me go with the TT One at the moment. Cheers.
