  1. Hi . This might help I have 96 tarago, have some problem like yours , you right with the oxygen sensor,I change them both 2 and another thing is fuel pressure, the fuel pump works but usually its worn out,low pressure keep you pressing accelerator hard, very noticeable on the hill have to use 2nd gear(auto) I'm drivin with it for couple years till it really dies on the road, After changing fuel pump I notice a big difference in power and fuel, idling should be 750 to 800rpm, if not, you running on open loop, clean your injector , throtle plate, also pcv valve. Good Luck
  2. hi emil , sorry i didnt visit this site for a while, yes i diagnose it my self by connecting wire between te1 and e1 this is the site http://www.troublecodes.net/Toyota/ i use obd1 codes ,ours diagnostic is on passenger side lift the seats ,its near the ecu,pls note when reading the codes just switch on and dont start, hope its help let me know how it goes cheers.
  3. i would say it might ecu related, try self diagnose lift your passenger side seat you will see small rectangular cap near ecu open it and connect te1 and e1 with small wire or equivalent ,turn key on ,no start then read code on dashboard, check engine will flash, normal reading should flash 1/2 second continously, if theres a fault the flash will be 1 second flash, example code 12 will be 1 second flash followed by 1/2 sec flash then 1 sec then 1sec flash, let me know what code number .
  4. early sunday morning on the way to work my 96 tarago stalls on the way to work and wont start anymore lucky off next two days ,get it towed home then next day got me confused there is spark and pressure but still dont start ,no fault code so im thinking no ecu related my thinking maybe some relay or airflow meter problem, circuit opening relay allright so i connect fp and B+ this time no pressure so i assume fuel pump, still doubt because i heard some people change pump and still have problem, finally find out the pump works intermittenly so change it and works fine again @ 320,000kms the only thing is you have to pull down the tank to get access of the pump ,thinking at first that might be removing carpet to get access so just to share this experience to fellow tarago DIY owner, from newbie cheers
