  1. had the car since Dec 30 2011, now done approx 13,000 km in it... on average, im getting 6.9... had it as low as 6.1 from a couple of trips over the weekend (697km used a tad over 42lt) and a qtr of a tank to go would of seen another couple of hundred at least with some still in reserve..
  2. The 2L-TE is also in the Hilux Surf... Timing kits are availabel and a mechanic will charge anywhere up to $1000 to do (in a surf) as its a pain in the butt... (Have to pull all belts, fans etc....) 2L-TE's have a few common problems (at least in the surf's) which are cracked heads and leaky fuel pumps (again another grand for a pump replacement and even more for a head...) If you service it regularly and check the coolant constantly, you should be right.... All toyota dealers will be able to source parts for the motor as a lot of it is interchangeable with 2L and 3L stuff off Hilux's and 4runners...
  3. And here is a picture... Now had it for just on 2 weeks and added 4,000km.... Very comfortable on long drives, love the cruise control...
  4. Had the car 2 weeks now and just clicked over 4000km... read out on the dash says average of 6.7lt/100km That fits with my calculations...
  5. Another 725km and got it down to 6.56l/100km bit more highway this time and more cruise control use... light wasnt on, but was near servo so filled up.. still had 120km to go by the trip computer..
  6. Had mine for less than a week and done 1200km... Driving it like i would any other car except around town (60kph zones using the step/glide technique) 1st full tank got me 774km with the fuel light on... worked out to 6.97lt / 100km.... Very happy with the car so far... I dont have to pay for the fuel, but i find myself trying to get as low useage as I can... I reckon if i can average less than 7L/100km im doin well...
  7. they dont last forever!!! just short of 3 years is pretty good in my books...
  8. He clearly pulls out the strip of nails in which you can see the gaps where nails have been removed. The nail gun needs to work it's way past these empty spaces and to do that, it needs to be triggered. If the nail gun was not to advance when he was "firing the blanks" then the act itself would not work. I know these things are all about illusion and whatnot, but something like this doesn't mean that he can't pull off such an act. he didnt remove the strip from the gun... 1:44 in the video, he picks it up off the table... the gun has been modified to vent when triggered without the head being pushed back (see vid @1:37)
  9. he hasnt memorized any sequence... the mail gun has been modified... when firing a nail, the head is being pushed down and the trigger pulled - nail gets fired out. when NOT firing a nail, he is merely putting his hand at the head and pulling the trigger... Any other theory???
  10. 3L (Aussie 2.8 N/A diesel) 5L (Aussie 3.0 N/A diesel) those 2 are relatively basic electronics wise and should be a simple fit (surfs had 2LT / 2LTE fitted which are similar) If your more adventurous, try a 5LE or 1KZTE(3l Turbo Diesel from early Prado...) or whack a v8 in it...
  11. Avalon on its own would be better.. and seeing as though im getting a hybrid camry soon, a separate section for either Hybrids or the relevant hybrid model would be good as surely there will be things about them that are not relevant to the general camry section for example...
  12. Hey all... New to the site - Member #26,000... Wifes car - 1998 Toyota Rav4 AWD 4 door My old car - 1992 Toyota Hilux Surf (recently retired due to motor issues - Might bring it back to life with a V8...) My new car - 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid (Yet to be delivered..) in "wild fire" red.... You could say that we are a Toyota family.. But it hasnt always been so... Ive had Datsun's, Holden's, Mitsubishi's, Mazda's.... Finally saw the light and from now on, its Toyota only!!! Cheers, Rob.
