  1. Just reviving this thread, did anyone buy a set of mirrors of these guys? If so did you get the folding module they supply? I bought a pair and am still chasing them for a wiring diagram for the module, they keep telling me the photocopied sheet they sent me is the wiring diagram but it only lists the wire colours and functions for the mirrors, I have 9 wires on the module and no idea which ones go where or what's postitive or negative, can anyone help me as they are typically stalling in getting back to me, I don't recommend buying off Keylight, their site says California address but they are Taiwan based, have read complaints about them on a US Lexus TOC forum. If you want fold back mirrors then buy just the mirrors (they seem to be pretty good and they are a perfect fit) but get a control module off eBay, that is what I may have to do if no-one can't help me out on here if they have a wiring diagram. I have googled it but found diagrams for other modules, ZMC etc, the module just has FOCUS9260A0904 on a label on the side, no idea who makes it. Hope someone can help me, paid $48 for it and will be about $50 for one off ebay from Singapore or I can get one from the UK but if I can would rather get the one I paid for working. Please PM me if you can help.

    Cheers.

  2. Speaking of folding mirrors, I got a pair from that link on here somewhere, they have wiring for mirror heaters to clear fog from the glass. I looked at 2010 Aurion features in Redbook and can't find any models that have side mirror heaters, I looked through my owners manual in the fuse box section and there is a fuse for the mirrors in the one behind the glovebox, I had a look at mine and it has a 10 amp fuse already in there, listed as MIR HTR (mirror heater) yet when I turn on the rear demister the mirrors do not get hot and after having a look behind the mirror there are no wires, could it just be part of the harness? they usually don't put fuses in if the feature is not on the car, when I get round to installing the mirrors I will play around with the plug and see if there is power to the mirror's plug when the demister is switched on as the manual says the mirror heaters work when you turn on the demister. Does anyone have mirror heaters in their Aurions and if so what model do you have or is it a Camry feature?

    Cheers.

  3. The LED bulb upgrade to all interior lights, don't mean to appear stupid but how do I do that mod?

Also I wanted to upgrade my headlights but Auto barn tech looked at my car and told me I couldn't touch the factory installed low beam HID lights.....?

    Cheers.

Most car shops have LED bulbs to suit most car interior applications and types of bulbs, I have gotten some good cheap ones off eBay and if you have a Jaycar electronics store near you they have a decent range, sizes, colours, sometimes you have to try them out 1st, LEDs project light forward and not so much around as a standard bulb but now you can get ones that have SMD LEDs down the sides and on the top, these are great but sometimes the light can be narrow and it depends on the placement of the bulbs behind the lens/plastic diffuser. you can get some good results with a bit of trial and error and shopping around. You just get the same type base (T10 wedge or festoon) and swap them over, you have to have them round the right way, negative and positive wise, if it doesn't work just pull it out and put it back in with the terminals reversed.

As for your low beam they may be Xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) bulbs and you can't get better than that. Hope that helps.

  4. I'd like to fit the philips DRL 5 to my Presara but would like to know what the guys that have fitted them to their cars think?

    Work ok?

    Look good?

    Not bright enough?

    Etc

    Thanks.

I fitted the Philips DRL 5 to my Touring, I am impressed, very bright, there is a slight delay when you turn on the park lights or the ignition off before they go out but that looks cool if you like that sort of thing, some pics enclosed. Though in pic three all the lights are on they are now wired so they only come on by themselves and turn off as soon as park to switched on, this is a legal requirement. Bodykits kingdom sell a set that go in the fog lamp chrome surround, they look more factory but not sure how they perform, you can find them on their site or on ebay by searching 'Aurion'.

  5. For me the best revs i could get at 70km/h about 1.4k rpm, 80km/h about 1.5k rpm and 90km/h about 1.6k rpm. no idea if that is 5th or 6th gear but i think it's 6th gear.

Satorl893 i managed to get 230km/h on my Aurion before. IIRC reading somewhere the limit was electronically limited to 235km/h

Yeah that is about the same as what I get rev/speed wise. 230km/h! what does it handle like at that speed, pretty flat or floats around a bit, I've only had mine up to about 180km/h and it is surprisingly comfortable, they just feel like they love speed, I am amazed a mine and how quick it can get to 140 or more just overtaking on the highway. I thought they would electronically limit it but 235 is not bad, clearly without the limiter it could do more, the speedo goes to about 260 I think.

They (well a 2007 Sportivo SX6) are electronically limited at approximately 255km on the speedo. GPS speed when the speedo is reading that is 245km/h.

That's all the discussion I'm permitting on that. There is no place that most of us here can legally achieve that speed in Australia.

So if a 2007 SX6 Sportivo is limited to 255km/h then what is a TRD supercharged version capable of? Only the TRD is supercharged right, the Sportivo isn't is it? I guess it's not just top end speed, there has to be a limit, 230km/h is fast, I guess like you said there is nowhere you can legally do that in Australia (the Northern Territory has no speed limit doesn't it but I have no idea what the roads are like and with the heat and dust who would want to risk it) but it's all about how quick you can get there, even if you get 230km/p, I have seen a vid on youtube of an Aurion speedo going to 235km/p, it gets there pretty quick for a car that is what? under 60grand for the top model, at least our Aurions are value for money, honesly I have seen Ferraris, Lamborghinis and such in Melbourne when I have been there, what good is a car that you get booked everytime you go over 2nd gear plus the Aurion has so much more practical features. What is the sense of paying a 1/4 mill for a car that gets to 100 in under 4 seconds when it has practically no boot or sometimes the basic feature? Fine if you have a spare 250 thou in the bank, but is it value for money? unlike the Aurion that has looks, power and is practical, would rather an Aurion and a mortgage and not just a car for the same money.

  6. For me the best revs i could get at 70km/h about 1.4k rpm, 80km/h about 1.5k rpm and 90km/h about 1.6k rpm. no idea if that is 5th or 6th gear but i think it's 6th gear.

  7. Addition question I thought of today, in regards to my poor economy in city cycle compared to others on here, my car does not go into 6th gear until I reach 70kmph, (I know this cause I have counted/watched the Tacho needle drops while taking off and appart from taking off in 1st, there is only 4 rev drops between standing and up to 60) is this because 6th gear is too high for speeds under 70, is that how it is meant to operate or is it not doing the right thing, does anyone's Aurion go into 6th at speeds under 70kmph? Even when I am in 'S' mode and I change to 6th at 60kmph there is no revs drop, it only works up to 5th. Nothing in owner's manual except not to exceed 198kmph in 4th, wow...how fast would and Aurion go??,

  8. 100 meters is not that far, a human sprinter can cover it in under 10 seconds.

My 100mr PB is 19.01... (minutes that is :spiteful: )

I have given up on Vortex around here .. (2285) I have not experienced any difference over ulp for so long I am no longer donating to their booty. The same with Shell around here. With BP Ultimate I can notice the difference so will be sticking with that or good old ulp in the future. I achieved the magic 7 number using BP Ultimate so can't argue with that.

Graeme... would the body kit cause more wind resistance and not help your economy?

From owning many straight 6's and a recent 10 yr stint owning a sweet Toyota 3L V6 the way to drive them is with a gentle touch... just let the momentum build up, no need to drive them like a 4cyl. If someone beats you to the next lights then so be it..

It bugs my mrs... my Kluger kills her 07 2.4 4cyl Camry on economy .

Techniqcally it should improve handling but it is just all show, If you look at any race car the kit scrapes the ground and bottoms out constantly and would be totally impractical on the street, race kits are desided to stop air getting under the car so they dont float at high speed. Mine is just a lip kit, the rear apron may cause extra drag from air coming from under the car out the back, the sideskits don't stick out that much and with the 4 mudflaps gone to fit it all on I think the mudflaps would have caused some drag but that is getting a bit picky, the front spoiler is not much lower than the original bumper, it sticks out further forward and is rounded so should really go throught the air without causing extra drag. I just meant I drive more sedately now the kit is on cause I am worried about potholes and anthing that could damage it like driveways and stuff, the car scraped before if I pulled into or out of a driveway to fast so I take it slower now and when coming up to speed bumps and driveways, I start slowing down a lot earlier instead of harder breaking before I pull in, makes for a smother ride also, wasn't really about fuel economy just the kit wasn't cheap with the painting and all so I want to look after it plus it makes the car look so much better (looked good before though) but don't want to thrash my car now, have spent too much and want to look after it and only drive it hard if the need arises, like overtaking on the highway etc. I just meant before the kit went on I had a bit of a lead foot, now the car looks a little more prestigious I want to preserve it.

  9. ... because fuel economy and avg speed functions would be relatively important to me, certainly in such a modern car.

It's not hard to calculate your average fuel economy yourself though... and is more accurate. The average speed function is pretty much useless as well.

Yeah I have done 4 hour stretches on the highway with cruise control set at 110 kmph and the cluster computer will say my average speed was anything from 89 to 95kmph, also the outside temp can be affected if you park the car in the sun or if the engine is hot and you park to go somwhere then get back in a bit later like well within an hour and the outside temp will be high, think it's just heat transfering through the metal in the body to wherever the sensor is located.

  10. Dash camera? you mean like the ones they have in taxis? If so Jaycar stock a couple and I have seen them on eBay if you mean those ones that attach to the rear view mirror, Jaycar call theirs an in car event capture camera or something close, just got to Jaycar's site and search 'car camera' on you can view the specs online of the ones they have.

  11. I changed both the T5 bulbs in mine also to LED's, white ones in my case. Looks alot crisper and brighter and matches the rest of the lighting in the car :) easiest thing to change and the bulbs only cost a few dollars on eBay

Never considered white but it would match in and give it a good crisp look as you said.

  12. I noticed a lot of wind noise but thought it was just the car as I had the weather shields fitted before I took delivery of the car so didn't know any different, then I got sick of it being so loud and had a closer look, Toyota had not fitted them properly and the drivers side one was sitting on top of the where the mirror meets the door and the wind was getting in under it, they replaced them under warranty and I did notice a big difference. I imagine the slimline ones would produce less noise not sticking out as far as the regular ones.

  13. Thanks Barney for that,

The builder who is working on my house says his son who is into Ford F250/350s with V8s in them says that he gets better economy overall using Caltex Vortex, I noticed going to Melbourne that some smaller servos didn't have the Vortex unleaded and when I filled up there was a difference in performance, those that had the Vortex Unleaded when I filled up I did notice the car ran smoother, had more power and got better economy. As for the last service, all of them since new have been through Toyota with the capped $130 service for the 1st 3years, but as I said since the bodykit went on before this service I am more sedate in my driving habits because of potholes and in carparks to avoid damaging the kit and this has also made me drive the car less agressively, I had a bit of a lead foot at first, but even back then when it was guzzling fuel I would take it easy but didn't make much difference, not sure what they did last service, was a big one, well they had heaps listed on the job sheet but doesn't mean they did it all but like I said the car is smoother, accelerates better though I have not given it much though I did the other day to beat some traffic, even with the traction control the wheels were spinning for nearly 100meters or so, not full on but I could hear the squealing as the traction control engaged on and off. Like I said getting around 14.5l/100 round town when I used to never get under 15s. bought it in Dec 2010 so it was it's 4th service I think. only has 13500ks on it. Want to take it on a good higway run and see how it goes to compare very soon.

  14. What is wrong with my Aurion then, since it's last service around town I have been getting 14.5L per 100 which is good as before that it was always in the 15s since I got it new in 2010, the best I have got on the highway with cruise control on is down to 8.2L per 100km. Don't know what I would get now after the service but no matter how moderately I drive it still guzzles, like I said 14.5L per 100ks is the average round town but only since it's last service, it has 13500 km on the clock. Don't know if it's the heat up here or what, drove it from Townsville to Melbourne, was pretty impressed though it seemed to get better litres per km at 110 than 100kmph but even better at 140kmph. It's like it's built for high speed and crap around town. Since I put on my bodykit, I have been driving very sedately, but not much improvement over if I drive a bit harder, most of my calculations were before the last service but I connot believe the pic above, I have never seen mine get under 8L per 100km no matter how I drive. On my trip from Townsville to Melbourne, I limped into a town, fuel light on, gauge on empty, trip meter said zero k's left, got 717km out of the tank, it took 69 litres to fill, I was impressed with that having a 70 litre tank I should have been able to get another 100ks out of it though I have been told that Toyota have always had around a 10 litre 'reserve' after the gauge is on 'E'. Still can't believe how much mine goes through when I fill up. My last average was 14.7 litres per 100 varied driving around town but mostly moderate and not too much right foot. Hope my trip computer is ok, my km/litre calculations are about the same so it must be right but I see heaps of members on here getting better economy than me? Can't wait till it's out of warranty so I can put a decent air ram style pod filter on it with a cold air intake pipe and open up the exhaust from the 'Y' to 2.5 inch pipes with no rear mufflers, that will hopefully give better economy, more power and a nice sound both intake and exhaust.

  15. Hi Michael,

You might want to take a look at the link below also called 'Aurion Aftermarket speakers help me' if you haven't already. I got some advise on my rear speakers, you have to watch the depth of the speakers cause the tension rods for the boot can hit the back of the speaker if they are too deep, because of this thread I went with the Rockford Fosgate Punch series meantioned, as you will read in the thread they fit well in the rear but you still have to put rubber around the boot rods as they do touch the magnet, there is a link on there to some photos of these speakers installed and you can see the rubber around the rod, I have chatted with the member who's pics they are and he said the sound was good also, Rockford Fosgate Punch P1694C 6"x9" 4-Way, I got a mine off eBay for $129 delivered brand new. Have not installed them yet, the back seats have to come out to fit them but apparently they give good bass and midrange and are a perfect sounding speaker for the rear. As for the front I went with Jaycar Precision series 6 x 9 kevlar cone 2 ways with a 1 inch silk dome swivel mount tweeter. Appartently the Rockfords in the rear work excellently with just the standard head unit. Both the Rockford and Respose speakers are 75 Watts RMS. As for head unit I am sticking with the factory one, has the reversing camera screen and I am impressed with it's features. Can't afford to replace it even if I wanted to, have spend too much on other stuff on the car so far, time to rest my wallet. As you said though the critical mass speakers, SS69 and RS69 fit in without mods.

Hope this is of some help.

    Cheers

    Graeme.

  16. Hi GregoryB,

I have a 2010 Aurion also, my mods are pretty limited as it is still under the 2nd year of the new car warranty and I have check with Toyota on a few things and some mods can affect the warranty, something as simple as an oil pressure gauge, I asked them about it, I have one I got to put in and spoke to the Warranty Manager, he told me that putting the 'T' piece in so I can keep my oil light as well as the gauge, because it is none genuine all the oil system warranty is voided, even if it's not related to the gauge, any oil leak or blown gasket would not be covered he told me regardless of where it occured, I have added DRLs, footwell lights, headlamp and interior light upgrades etc. as you will read on my signature, does that void all the electrical system?? techniqually by what they have said it should but you can have spot lights fitted or a none-genuine tow bar and that does not void the warranty on electrical. But sometimes I feel 'what the hell' and just want to go with performance mods, air intake & exhaust are first on my list.

    Cheers.

  17. Hi there, sorry to butt in but I'm from the Aurion side of the site but a Toyota lover of all models, I don't follow the Corolla threads so excuse me if I am posting stuff you guys and gals already know but I was at Toyota on Tuesday getting things done to my Aurion when I noticed a black coupe being rolled into the show-room, I leapt out of the waiting room to have a look, immediately I see the '86' display plates on it so went round the back to see the badges, only the Toyota symbol on the word Toyota on the rear, asked the sales guy, is this a revival of the AE86? He said yes it was a Corolla, anyway grabbed some pics with my phone, sorry bout the quality but my phone is not that great, as far as I know this is a Corolla 86 two door, may be old news to you but it just says Toyota on the back and has an '86' badge on the side, didn't get to ask the dealer about it, I loved it. Anyway thought I'd post it on here for you to gander at.

  18. Does it have the 2.4 EFI 22RE motor with a manual gearbox? Sorry, Hi there, Graeme here from the Aurion side of the site but I had an 83 Corona CS-X, fell in love with it and all the models and variations after it, studied the Avante a lot when my parents got an 86 model later on when I had an 84 Celica which was basically a 2 door Corona with pop up lights and a faster diff, even the later front wheel drive Celicas were considered 2 door Camrys, would love to help if you want. Have pics of my Corona in my album, still think they have a great look and heaps of potential. 1986...Independant rear suspension about a decade before Holden were boasting about the Commodore having it, rear wheel drive, great rack and pinion steering, comfortable, what model do you have, CS, CS-X or Avante or one of the CS-i Limited models?

  19. Was at Toyota getting my overhead map-light console replaced due to a faulty switch on Tuesday, 400 bucks normally, they replace the whole thing, luckily it was under warranty but I digress, spotted this 2012 Sportivo in the yard, sorry the pics aren't that great, used my phone which is not that good for pics, new Aurions zr6, no offence but what have they done, tail lights look ok but rear apron has too much grey plastic around exhaust & in between to my liking and the front looks great but look at the fog lamp surrounds, again overkill with the grey plastic. Interior is nice, corbon fibre look is great, my Touring has silver on the centre console. worried about if it scratches or wears, really like the new interior though. Oh and I caught some pics of the new 2012 Toyota 86, (Corolla they said, I think bringing back a modern equivalent of the old 1980s AE86 Corolla Sprinter Hatch/Coupe, grabbed 2 pics of that also as they rolled her into the display room.

  20. Age: 41

    Sex: Male

    Status: complicated

Reason for purchase: Went to Toyota for a look, saw it on the yard and wanted it, was the last 2010 Touring model in stock, got great deal as they had to move it and got heaps of extras thrown in. Just couldn't let her go, my 2003 Camry Sportivo was starting to cost a bit in servicing with things going wrong so seemed right. Was meant to be, I have had 4cyl mostly and 2 v8s but never a 6, V or straight but I am sold on the V6 in this, no wonder the cops use them. Awesome power.

  21. On my 2010 Touring, I have not tried yet but on the battery side behind the airfilter box there is an ECU looking silver box that has a harness with a mass of wires that go into the firewall into the fuse and wiring plug box behind the glovebox inside, I am hoping to run my wires through there. There is even some black gromment looking things that stick out of the rubber boot that seals that ECU looking box's wires through the firewall, that's my plan of attack if it works for all the wires I want to run from the engine bay/battery to inside and inside wires into the engine compartment...Hope that helps.

  22. I have a 2010 Touring in black, just put a Bodykits Kingdom lip kit on it, got it local/Australia/Qld, front lip/spoiler is ok, would show up more in white, have to get side on to mine to see it even then it doesn't look that fired up as some, the front spoiler above is wild and looks great in black, mine is tame compared but depends on how wild you want to go. Honestly when I bought mine from bodykits kingdom, they have a silver Aurion/Camry as their display model, looks really good and the front lips really sticks out but the front does not look as large/agressive in black on mine. looks sporty but factory sporty standard and not fired up like you want but who knows, in white it may stand out more, I thought it looked great in silver on eBay but once I had it painted was a little disappointed but then I don't have to be too carefull with driveways, speed bumps, gutters and concrete barriers in car parks, I think you would have to be careful with the one above but then YIN/YANG, looks wild and agressive but you may have to be careful parking or the kit I have I am still carefull but have more clearance. Will take some pics of mine and post soon. Depends on the light and angle as to how noticable mine is, like I said it looks standard/sports factory cause it doesn't appear to stick out much further than without it but could just be the colour as I said, stands out more in lighter colours. As for side skirts and rear apron.bumper spoiler it looks the same but more noticable in full sun as aposed to the carport but then I don't get to see the car out and about, only when I am coming back to it, the black is a hot colour but hides a lot of the lines on the skirts, apron and front spoiler, thought I will say it makes the back seen very luxury/prestige from the rear, not so as agressiveliy sporty as it was without it, trying to add some chrome to the back to basically add more to the clear tail lights, going to chrome the strip above the number plate, have done it partially and looks great similar to the rear pic above but going to try chrome around the tail lights, not buying the full piece ones, I find using chrome pinstripe works as good if you have the patience but it can be a pain to apply and get it right, just too much black at the rear with the apron as well so want to bring more to the rear, once I get the exhaust modified (2.5" press bent from the center resonator with no rear mufflers) I will get them to set the ehaust outlets further out to show off the chrome tiips. Like I said that kit above, the front spoiler is wild, skirts and apron basically the same but if I had the cash and they only sold the front spoiler, I would get one. Actually that kit is for 2006 to 2008 so would not fit 2009 on Aurions, facelife happened in 2009 so need to find an '09 on' kit which there was not much choice when I got mine but depends on how big your wallet is.
