  1. Welcome Carl Your description of the fault with the used Kluger is something I would just walk away from, however the price is good so I can only recommend that you get the RACQ to do a thorough Vehicle Inspection Report before considering it further. The Klugers are great cars even after the new car smell has gone. I still look forward to driving mine everyday. The Territory handles better but the resale suffers badly in comparison to the toyota so take that into consideration in choosing between the two. Unless you intend to go off road the 2wd versions are fine and the cost is much closer to your budget
  2. Try Kmart Tyre and Auto. I picked up a set of Bridgestones for $320 each fitted. ( Brisbane ) Just ask them for best price, they will always drop it a bit. They have access to the other brands as well.
  3. As you say Toyota change the placard on the models to suit the wheels they fit at time of sale. The Altitude model is based on the The KXR and has the Grande wheels and therefore carries the 103s rating but the standard KXR has the 107. It would be good for the placard to have 107 for 17inch and 103 for 19 inch printed so customers could upgrade wheels if desired.
  4. I have been to Fraser Is several times and my suggestion is - Hire a 4WD with low range. It gives you more flexibility of when to travel and better ground clearances etc. My pet hate is pushing pretend 4wds of tracks so everyone else can get past. The Kluger is probably cable of the the beach driving but There is plenty to see and do off the beach especially if the weather is not great. Dont get me wrong I love my Kluger but Fraser Is a mix of beach and tracks and if you really want to see the most of it you need to be prepared. There are times when even the troop carrier we used could not get through some of the tracks that had become too soft or over used. I agree with Skitzo, getting the sand out is impossible and the cost of hiring will be offset by the reduced resale value. If you do decide to take the Kluger consider the tyres you use as ripping the side wall out of the $375 each Bridgestones is going to cause a lot of tears.
  5. Were the tyres hot when you checked pressure? You should be checking them when cold, as the pressure will increase greatly during use. This is interesting. If tyre pressure should be checked when cold, how do we do that as most people need to adjust it at the service station so we have driven and made the tyres hot. What effect does it have? ie if I put 40 psi in the tyres at the servo am I really running them at say 35psi cold temp and causing excess wear as experienced by some other forum members or should we have 40 psi cold temp which will be much higher when driving? Will the higher pressure be beyond the manufacture recomendation ? Does anyone know?
  6. Jonathon There is a thread about this topic at the bottom of page 2 of the threads. I have included it here. hope the link works and is of assistance.
  7. Ray Just changed one the other day. Super cheap auto stock both High and low beam globes for 2003 to 2006 Kluger. Not many places do. Cant remember the exact code but they are numbered 23 and 24 and are approx $26 each.
  8. 2010 KX-R 44k/k 7 seat 2wd towbar @ $36000. 2012 KX-R 6km (new) 5 seat 2wd towbar, nudge bar, weather shields, mats, full tank, $37,500 drive away. Decision is easy :-) The used one in the link has the grille of the updated model late 2011?? Odd? The Update model ( 2011 ) occurred in late 2010 not late 2011 so there are a some 2010s out there with the new grille. There are a few bargins out there at the moment so look around and ask the question on price you might be surprised.
  9. Barney that is amazing economy. I often get between 7.2 and 7.4 on that same stretch of road with 2 kids and 2 adults plus gear in the car, AC on and a surfboard on the roof. I use 91 ron shell and 38 psi. It reverts back to about 8.4 lts per 100 on other highway driving. These 2wd klugers are excellent on the fuel.
  10. I have the same problem with both. ( 2010 Alttiude ) The steering issue I have reported twice and have been told that because it doesnt happen all of the time it is not the intermediate steering shaft. But true to form it will not do it on service day. I am just going to keep reporting it until it finally gets fixed (under warranty ). Bluetooth operation is a lottery. I originally had a nokia and these generally do not work with the bluetooth. Not very good considering the number of these phones around at the time. I now have an Iphone and still have some conection issues but more importantly clarity or sound quality issues. The unit is the same as the MY11 KXS. I recently was driving a 2011 corolla for a couple of weeks and the bluetooth in it was so much better and clearer. This situation is very disappointing for a $50k + car.
  11. Chris I was just searching for another topic and found the thread mentioned above. If that doesnt work then it is on page 10 of 38 and was started 13-12-10
  12. Ok all fixed. Apparently all you need to do is turn the phone off and on a few times while deleting and reregeristing the phone and it will eventually work. Anyway all good now and back to being happy with the Kluger.
  13. Chris I believe there was a thread on this last year that even described how to install the DVD players including wiring. Might pay to have a look and search back over the topics.
  14. Hi guys and Girls. I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if anyone was able to solve these problems above or successfully have the unit replaced. I have the 2010 Altitude model which has the same updated 6 stack head unit. I have recently purchased and iphone and it was working ok until the recent iphone update ( I think 5.1 ). Now it says it is successfully connected but does not connect when a call is made or received and although the audio controls on the steering wheel and head unit operate the itunes and phone no audio is transmitted. I have checked the obvious items such as volume control and have tried to remove and reregister the phone and pair the connection and still nothing. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.
