    CARGO COVER

Yeah Croco, I bought my KX-S new and it had one fitted. I know you've bought one now and that's a hell of a price to pay for what you get. Mine started to tear along one edge of the centre bar and when I realised that you couldn't see into the back anyway with the anti-glare screening on the windows, I pulled it out and it's now in storage so it can't get damaged any further. My wife has a habit of buying plants and sticking them in the back when I'm not looking because her car is much smaller. Something to keep in mind after paying $830 for one. Watch out for wives!!
  2. Left home to drive into town the other day, listening to something on the radio. Suddenly a sharp rattle / vibration developed under the dash panel somewhere. It just so happens that I love my car as it always runs quiet and smooth. This loud rattle came as a shock to the system. I naturally applied the standard immediate fix by hammering my fist on various parts of the dash gradually getting more violent and less in love with my car. Nothing I did worked. Several moments later, I gave up on trying to listen to the AM station I was on and switched over to FM. Problem solved immediately. No noise. In all my years I have never heard a radio station deliver anything like the vibrating racket as a background noise during a talkback radio show. Never jump to hasty conclusions I suppose.
  3. Yeah I've had mine for four and a half years now and am still wrapped in it. Good fuel economy for the size of the car and I'm no pussy foot. Great handling in corners due to the mag wheels and low profile tyres along with all of the electronic super whizz bits that help to keep you upright provided you aren't a moron behind the wheel. I guess it says something when I can honestly say that I haven't even consided an update or another type of car. Mine still runs like new at 76,000 km.
  4. Guess there's been some inflation since July last year holmesie. Prices going up like electricity.
  5. Hi everyone, Mine's a Nov. 2007 KXS that I bought new and my first set of Bridgestones lasted for 60,000 km. I changed them for another set of the same at $385 each because they were on special at the time. My originals would have lasted a bit longer but circumstances made it more practical to change when I did. I do a an even mix of country and city driving so I think they aren't bad wear wise and they behave on the road quite well, if a little bit noisy. If I change my tyre brand it will be for a quieter tyre provided the wear is good. There doesn't seem to be a lot to choose from yet however.
  6. I'm going back a bit in time I know but having recently joined I'd still like to comment. This is regarding Cookies query in December 2007 about using LPG for her AWD Grande. For anyone considering this move who hasn't used LPG in a car before, have a think about the following: In every service station, there is usually only 1 LPG pump. I found it a pain in the neck having to wait in line nearly every time before I could use it. The fuel connection between pump and car is a screw on and you have to line it up just right. Try it when you are in a hurry with people banked up behind you. The fuel is cheaper but you don't get as many kilometres to the litre. They don't tell you that your new system requires serviceing just as the engine in your car does so you are up for double the service costs. You lose luggage space. You need to run a tank of petrol through your car once a month to keep things on an even keel. To stop your valves from burning out, you pay another couple of hundres dollars to have an oil injector mounted so that it squits or drips oil into the fuel at regualr intervals. The oil costs a 'million dollars' or seems to and comes in a 1 litre container if I remember right. And lastly, I had this system mounted in my 80 series Landcruiser and stuffed the engine within 12 months. The Toyota workshop foreman just shook his head when he saw it and told me not to bother doing anything with it but just get rid of the car. I took his advice and bought a new Kluger KXS. That was back in November 2007. Anyway, it's probably some food for thought even if things have changed these days.
  7. Someone named Daryl sorted it out just fine. Thanks mate.
  8. Hi everyone, I posted a topic on the home page by mistake when I joined several days ago and the topic developed into a thread with good responses from David and Ron. The information from Ron in particular regarding servicing costs right up to 200,000 km is worth hanging onto for most of us. The problem is that the post and thread has vanished right when I asked these guys if they knew how to transfer it over to the Kluger forum. Where did it go and how do I get it over here so that everyone can benefit? Any ideas? thanks, Peter
  9. Yeah thanks Ron. That information is very handy and I'm sure nearly all Klugerites will benefit from it. I get the feeling that you guys may be very knowledgeable about this forum business and as I'm new to it, is there some way to transfer these posts over to the Kluger forum so I can correct my initial mistake in posting here. I feel a bit of an idiot reposting the same thing again.
  10. Hi David, Thanks for your response. What you suggest is possible I guess but I would not like to think our fuel is dirty compared to theirs, but then who knows? That's something no one here in the fuel industry is ever likely to admit to. You're right about getting this into the Kluger forum and I wasn't aware it existed until after I joined yesterday. I'll post the same message again there and see what happens. It's good to talk to like minded car owners and get feedback. Thanks again David.
  11. PeterEC Hi everyone, I've just come on board with my Nov. 2007 model KXS Kluger KXS AWD. I've had it since new and will probably drive it into the ground. It's done 76,000 km now and still running like new. I had a bit of a shock recently however when I was informed by my Toyota Dealer that the cost of my next service would be $1350. After my initial reaction over the phone they decided to prune it down to $1150. When I asked what was involved that could come to a bill like that, I was informed that it was mainly due to the 'Inline Fuel Filter inside the fuel tank'. The Service Manager informed me that unfortunately the filter cost $169.00 and several hours to replace. Plus other incidentals which I readily accepted. I couldn't get over how much a filter change would cost after only 80,000 km and stewed over it for a couple of hours or so, then rang another dealer with the same result. Still not convinced that this was right, I then went onto the internet and sourced the same information from American dealers. Surprise, Surprise, they didn't change over their inline fuel tank filter until the car reached 100,000 MILES!! And, 1 hour to replace the filter. I didn't ask the price of the filter. I love my car but the Australian Toyota Distributors seem to be doing an 'Ikea' on us. I rang my dealership back and explained what I had done on the internet. Their reply was that 'it's different in America'. When I asked what was different when it's the same car and similar country, they could not respond except to say 'it's different in australia'. Well yes it certainly is, isn't it! I'm just wondering if anyone else has gone down this path because this was the first new car in 30 years for me and for all I know, all our new car buyers these days may be copping a similar hiding. Won't stop me buying a new Toyota when the time is right but they can forget their service schedules. What's good enough for the Yanks is good enough for me and a lot cheaper. Still a satisfied customer after all of that.
  12. Welcome to the Toyota forums PeterEC :)
