  1. yeah 2 no issues but its just in case of the 3rd syndrome, and 2 slim line up rigts and a capsule should fit. im thinking id rather a vasectomy then get rid of another stivo. Rather have timing chains than timing belts anyday. Foresters are good but 8200rpm is way better.
  2. well after selling my problem riddled 2004 sprotivo- (suspension and steering shake at 80kmh + ) lookks like the mrs kids and i might be getting back into a sportivo- currently we have a 2001 gt auto forester, but with tight parking at work and home, it really is to big for us (plus we dont use all the boot or go off road- only 1 time in SA). If we can fit out 2 slim line baby seats and capsule into the rear seat- i think its a goer, just need to find a dealer willing to swap the forester for a sportivo (or a levin at the worst) with minimal change over- yes $$$ are tight. We loved the size and practicality of the 2002- 2006-7 hatch and would love to get another one. Remarkably the rear hip room is smaller in corolla by 10mm but has 20mm more shulder room from online specs. and this is where baby seats matter! shoulder room. If anyone in vic has any options or contacts- let me know. cheers
  3. another reason why i sold my old stivo.... (apart from being a piece os SA made rubbish that toyota refused to fix under waranty!) For same details, a 2002 gt forester is cheaper to ensure than a sportivo now! still read here ocasionally waiting for my old cars owner to join as it only sold from the dealer last week or two (6 months to sell it after trade in hahahahahahahaha, i know im the winner there as they sold it for same $$$ i traded it in for and it still had vibration at 90kmh plus, but sold from a dealer that only had 70kmh roads near by). shop around every year, but with mods its limited to a few now (out of working for car insurance now and happier for it). thats my 2c, keep the change
  4. was looking at the road with the camera(camaera phone) sticky tapped onto flat bit of the steering wheel. the button was almost where my thumb was at the 3pm area on the right hand side. Didnt have to watch the tacho, once you drive these cars long enough you can listen to the rpm and pick when the 8200 is coming up due to the scream (its like wringing its neck and waiting for something to break). The button on my phone is just a light tap so was easy to do, tried video but to shaky.
  5. this should be possible in first that lands you directly in lift in 2nd and third if you can do the same in 2nd rpm wise..... (this was not bouncing off the limiter but kissing it on the way to 2nd lift). man i miss my 8200rpm waaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you probably need a clutch adjustment and learn the sihft characteristics of the car but having drive 3 sportivos, they all felt lsightly diffenernt in the clutch and shift (all stock cars). oh forgot you dont have lift (neither do i now, i have boost)

  7. well deal is done this thursday.... getting a forester turbo Suprisingly its better on petrol (unleaded 95 octane) per 100km than a stivo :) (on 95 octane) also is a lot quicker when a sortivo lined me up on the test drive (couldnt help it but it must have been fate (ive got an auto now too) hope he wasnt a member here, it was blue not silver so they arent that quick ;) so was hoping for calder friday night and a trade in sat morning but its not meant to be. so will only have my seat of the pant 15sec qtr miles to remeber 8200rpm (might go make a quick digi movie of the wonderous sounds of lift, take the air box off too :) ) signing off on thursday...
  8. the vibrations i had were the steering wheel shaking 5 to 10 mm in my hands from side to side on flat freeway, all wheels balanced, wheel alignments done and wheel shims in. back on stock rimms, still feel the same shake but no physical shake any more. toyota cant find anything wrong, or professionals either physically but can feel it. no fix so sell the car, unless someone can tell me how to fix it. maching rotors didnt help either (shake was not under braking, just normal driving)
  9. mine felt unsettled with 215 45 r17 on there too, with the stock suspension, handled great on corners but in a straight line did not. was not the rims as tried them on another rolla and all good but that one was lowered. figured mine has a vibration in the steering at 90 to 100kmh with stock rims too in a straight line. Apparently its normal (for toyota) with engine vibration coming trough the steering wheel at 100kmh as its a sports car. did the lowering get rid of the unsettled ride? what were the symptoms etc (if similar might lower mine instead of trying to trade it in for a good price)
  10. as long as i can bring my rwd piece of rubbish... just want to see what it can do.... (and not go bang) wont have rolla by then maybe (trade in prices are rubbish for pre facelift, might just go coil overs or low on stock rims and keep it that way... squeeze a family in there)
  11. I stand corrected Azza, they told me it was not recomended........ still wouldnt use it though, dont use the cheapy ethanol one either, bad experience in another car.... required to dum all the fuel and clean out the tank, not just dislodge it and flush it through the injectors
  12. i run vortex 98 or bp ultimate (mobil synergy 800 gives best kms per tank but idles rough for me) v power 100 has ethanol, something not recomended for the 2zz engine according to toyota... ethalnol os sugar in a form and can lead over long periods of sitting and time to form a sludge (in ethanol form too) in fuel systems. Its also not recomended for carby cars (which my other is)
  13. yes family is unexpectantly expanding (like my waistline, as well as the wifes) Blue stivo, relax wheels are safely locked away at my parents in laws fortress. Im hoping for a turbo wagon but trade in price will dictate if it will be turbo or not... (trade in prices seem to be around 19 to 20k max).] Hve to trade in as there is not enough time and too much stress to sell privately with the other factors. Shame with so few kms too (24000), didnt plan on selling but its a case of have too. If anyone knows of anyone wanting to pay 22k for it cash send me a pm, other wise dealers going to sell it for 25 or so... due to kms.
  14. well looks like its time for the corolla to move on. cant say its been all smiles but there is nothing more applealing than 8000rpm screaming in your ears. so will know in the next week or so whats going to replace it but best of luck to all the other silver ones left.

  16. apart from what ever language you speak, they speak it too? what more could you want? i feel your pain, about to put =mine in for warranty work too, called toyota australia first and forewarned them as i have had hassles with the dealer i bought from before too. they said try them first, if nothing, then complain to head office then they will send you to another.

  18. I would like just to meet up, sorry can't make it to big cruises any more. Will catch up when you meet before you leave on the cruize, but till not be joining. How about another time (different to this thread) meet up at that neat little cafe/garage in the City as suggested before. Then we can part ways for those wishing to cruise. Monthly meets would good as this is a central location for west, east and north. is there any melbourne meet up action, my other (non toyota) car club has been a bit slow on the meet ups lately too and the weather has been sooo good too.

Vic roads have one inch rule for wdth and not more than 20mm increse in rolloing diameter as well as width of tyre from stock if i read section 8 and 34 correctly. so 215 is max width on sportivo legally, 17 or 18 inch tyres and max rim width is 7 inch wide. Just make sure they meet load ratings too (tyres that is) Most states go by one inch or 25mm, unfortunately one inch is usually just over of 25mm (25.4mm)
  20. yeah took it to pedders, they couldnt find anything wrong as the car only had 17,000kms on it then. they said wheel alignment, they did it and still shook. so they didnt charge me
  21. shake is still there, less but still there slightly at 90 to 110 kmh. . basically the steering wheel can sake up to 5mm in your hand when driving on the freeway at these speeds. have had multiple wheel balances, alignments, its all good. had a suspcted wheel buckle hence the new rims. nope all good and old rims were good too tried some 16 bsa rims, still there and was worse! (thats bsa for you i guess) im running out of options talikng to some engenieers from ford i have narrowed it down to a few possible (expensive) options. 1. possible worn/faulty shock 2. grabing brake (3 mechanics say its not) 3. worn.faulty bush in the front end 4. unbalanced drive shaft. thats all they could think of. tyre/wheel rotation from front to rear etc doesnt change it either. still the same. it happens only on freeways at 90 - 110kmh and it could be theoretically tramiling by one wheel against the other 3 any ideas befroe i throw more money away at this south african built thing. no wonder toyota wont bring cars in from there again. Apart from that no other issues from the silver stivo (wear on the drivers leater due to my fatt a$$)
  22. $1300 is great price with tyres, was that new? Must be old stock that the perth guy had as sppedy have no lite 7 left in the country under there control, they are sold out, unless the tyre outlet has a set in stock. They only have one magnesium color left in 17 x 7 , heaps of 18x 7 left though. I wanted magnesium but the gold work with the silver stivo cause of the machined polished lip.
  23. i actually went with speedy wheels lite 7 (none left in magnesium but 1 set left in gold and machined lip), but the kyowa 226 were my back up (from a wheel place on sydney road that is questionalbe at best)
  24. i would personally go the kyowa wheels over the k speeds, but thats my opinion. the kspeeds are a soft alloy/ metal like the bsa type rims. thats what i noticed in the wheel shops. yeah those 228s are hot..... but i went a different path. gold with polished metal lip on silver rolla tomorrow. sounds bad looks good. now just has to be lower, damn warranty i know one shop on sydney road has the kyowa 228 (or similar i think) for around $880 a set in gunmetal only. 17 x 7. no tyres though on them, just rims.
